This review is for my 2019 visit and I still remember the experience I had! I'd just moved into the city and was sleeping on someone's couch (bad idea), ended up catching lice for MONTHS. I had especially long hair then and was desperate to get them out as I worked with people in close proximity, fearing I would pass it on somehow. I came in and the staff thankfully took care of the situation for me and gave advice on how to keep the lice away. The treatment did work, and it was great being able to go in right away without an appointment. I'm sure waiting times vary, ours was not too bad. BUT if they "offer" to check you, first ask how much it will cost. If you come in with a kid with head lice, they make it seem like checking the adults is part of the deal and of course you'd be charged if you do have them, but otherwise not. AND they tell you that "most insurance" covers the treatment at least partially - mine did not, I suspect none do. read more

Honestly, if someone in your family gets lice, you have two choices: 1. Try to deal with it yourself. You'll buy treatment kits that are expensive, have to deal with squirming kids who want to touch their hair and eyes before rinsing, tons of combing while you're unsure if you're even getting everything out, a family with very greasy hair for days, 12+ hours of frantically washing every fabric item in the house, and still not being sure if you've dealt with the issue. Or, 2. Go to Lice Busters. Talk about the issue and have the team assess the situation realistically so that you know what you actually have to wash, etc. before going home, have the kids sit calmly, watching TV and coloring while their hair is deeply conditioned and painstakingly combed by experts (no yucky residue from this treatment! I got it for myself too and my hair was softer than normal afterwards!), and total piece of mind. I went with the first option the first time we got lice, thinking I was saving money, but wasted a lot of time and was exhausted by the end. The next time, I went to Lice Busters, and honestly, this is what I'd do every time in the future. The issue seemed so much less overwhelming, my family was less stressed, and the lice were gone in no time. Totally worth it. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. When my daughter had head lice, I did my research and saw on Lice Busters' website that they guarantee the lice would be fully removed after one treatment, and they seemed legit. Lo and behold, after not one, but two treatments and $550 later, she was still scratching away at her head. I tried to get the Busters guy to come back yet again to help, but he was too busy and I just couldn't wait. I finally brought her to Licenders and they got rid of it in one session. The Lice Busters company has been screening my calls and ignoring my texts to try to follow up and get my refund (remember that "guarantee?"), and when he finally did answer when I called from a different phone number, he gave me the run around and all kinds of excuses, but ultimately said he would give us a refund. Have I received the money yet? Nope. And now they're back to ignoring me. Bottom line- do NOT ever go to Lice Busters NYC. They are not reputable and don't do the job right  Only use Licenders- they're professional and methodical and while not cheap, they get it done in one shot. read more

There are not enough stars available to rate how highly LiceBusters should be rated. Getting lice is stressful, but getting lice multiple times over because of incompetencies in your child's elementary school is a true nightmare. Raffi and Daniel were total life savers during our entire process. Their treatments worked without fail (we needed several, but this was because my child kept getting exposed to lice at school.). They were extremely patient, reassuring, responsive, kind, approachable, and overall they are wonderful humans. My kids, 6 and 2 at the time, immediately attached to Raffi and they still ask about him to this day (not kidding.). Daniel and Raffi also both went completely above and beyond in helping our family with the elementary school issue which solved the problem once and for all. I could never thank them enough. I have such vivid nightmarish memories of my own experience with lice in my sons' hair 33 years ago that when I learned my once-a-week afternoon activity with my granddaughter (of the long hair) would be at Lice Busters, I was not happy. I was so wrong! She walked in apprehensively but she saw two children sitting in youth size beauty parlor chairs, calmly watching cartoons while their wet hair was combed and combed and combed. Half way through her treatment we left to pick up her brother; she happily returned for the second half insisting on opening the door herself. The atmosphere was peaceful; the technicians were silent and efficient, alert to any discomfort on the child's part. They took as long as needed to make sure the hair was free of eggs. This place lives up to all the hype! I called in a panic with an itchy scalp after several of my daughters friends (and parents!) had lice. Yoni had me come in right away. The space was immaculate and welcoming. I noticed that there were movies and art supplies set up for kids, and felt immediately at ease that I'd feel comfortable bringing mine in if needed. A female technician did the initial inspection, and it turned out to be a false alarm - I was lice free! Yoni came over and did a double check, so I felt extra reassured. Everyone here were so nice from the owner on the phone when making the appointment to the women who performed the treatment on me and and my son. We had recently come from another lice treatment place and it was a terrible experience where I walked out because I knew that I was getting scammed and the practitioner wasn't nice! Considering that the premise for going to this place is your kids having bugs in their hair, it's pretty astonishing that it could have been such a positive experience. Yoni is unbelievably knowledgeable, patient, and kind; they are thorough; the place is set up for kids and they go out of their way to make the experience fun, rather than miserable. My kids were at ease because of the staff's calm and fun approach, and because the salon is set up with cartoons, lollipops, etc. And i was at ease because it was clear that they would not let us leave until they were absolutely certain everyone was bug-free. I cannot say enough about this place! I panicked when I found a louse in my 5 year old daughter's hair after a shower. A spoke to a friend; she had tried to take care of her daughter's case by shampooing and combing on her own at home, but it just kept getting worse and then ending up spreading throughout the family. Lice Busters was her saving grace. I quickly made an appointment for the next day - and they had availability. When we walked in, it looked like an average hair salon. We were seen quite quickly. My daughter was a little nervous, so I was checked first. They found 2 nits and no bug. More nits were found on my daughter, but I was told we were lucky to have caught it so quickly- this was a very mild case. I felt total peace of mind as they shampooed and combed our hair for almost an hour. They were kind enough to ask my daughter what she would like to watch on tv. She chose Moana. Lollipops were also plentiful. The bright, clean, colorful atmosphere, combined with all of the amenities put us both at ease in such an uncomfortable, unknown experience. This was my first experience with lice and I knew I would never have felt comfortable dealing with this on my own. Afterwords, Yoni, the main supervisor, was very thoughtful and thorough, explaining all of the things I should do at home along what I can do in the future to prevent this from happening again. He even gave use new hair ties + a special coloring book for my daughter, along with a lice preventing spray. It was also comforting to see that he is available via text and phone to answer any questions. I am not happy we had to deal with this situation, but I am happy to know that this place exists to help me when it does! FYI, they are not open on Saturdays. read more

The good: They were able to see us at the last minute, on the same day. They effectively removed the lice. Yoni provides ongoing support for any future lice outbreaks and checks. The bad: We had to wait a long time to be seen once we got there. Yoni was very rough. My son screamed the entire time, and when he did my head, I understood why. I have done lice removal twice since then, and he hasn't complained at all. They said both our FSA and health insurance should cover it, but neither one did. read more

It's an anxious and embarrassing thing to go through, as my girlfriend and I found out a couple weeks ago. Thankfully, Lice Busters exist. We called for an emergency appointment, and they were more than accommodating. He saw us both within an hour, explained what was going on and what we needed to do, and treated our hair. His calming nature made us feel relaxed, and put our troubled minds at ease. We're going back tomorrow for a checkup, as they ensure their clients are happy and lice-free, but so far we've felt great and haven't found any more lice. I brought in my niece twice within a 6 month period and I still had to do my at home treatments because it didn't work. I was told I myself had eggs but they never found actual lice. It cost me almost $400 here for 1 visit for us, not including having to come out of pocket for home services. So I spent over $600 at this place and it didn't work. Save your money! read more
