EXPENSIVE mistake... $711.00--that is what it cost for my daughter, husband, and me to have our heads checked and treated. It took 4 hours. The process is to drench our hair in olive oil, wash hair, dry hair, and drench again. THEN you have to do this for 3 more weeks. I am so mad at myself for putting my family through this. My 10-year-old daughter has had lice before, and we had the Lice Ladies come to our house. It took 2 hours and $250 total. I cannot believe we spent over $700 on this service. Update: I actually did have nits after this treatment and very diligent (and painful) followup and I had to spend money on retreatment. No nits were found on my daughter, but the entire followup protocol was extremely anxiety-producing because it was basically impossible to comply with for a little girl. I was going to take a star off for finding nits after the ordeal, but I appreciate that the business owners left a comment, so I'll leave it at 2. Note to business owners generally - comments like "I wish you had contacted us" are fair, but to the extent that they are intended as a subtle dig for writing public reviews I take exception. If I think the business can remedy the issue and I have time to deal with it (which I did not in this case) I will usually contact them first but in an egregious situation like this I will almost always yelp it anyway. To those still looking for lice treatment - I would not recommend the lice doctors method. I tried another natural lice remedy that involved less disgustingness and less cumbersome followup. That did not work either (admittedly I have very long hair) and I ended up doing Sklice, which took a total of 1/2 hour of my time and fixed the entire problem. This service was definitely NOT worth the money. Having had experience with other companies, I was under the assumption that I would pay for the service and once it was provided we would be nit/bug free. This most certainly is not the case. They charged $300 for three of us then at the end of the service I was given a sheet of paper stating I would have to self treat my kids with olive oil nightly for TWO WEEKS then every other night for another 10 days --- why on earth did i pay you if you don't get rid of it? Not only that but after some simple googling I found out OLIVE OIL DOES NOT KILL NITS only the adults making this ridiculous service ineffective. I wrote this company, Lice Doctors, saying I was dissatisfied and the person who responded stated that perhaps it was because I went to Lice Ladies [which I had mentioned to the technician] that we had not gotten rid of it. Ridiculous. She jumped to this conclusion without knowing the timeline or any facts. My experience with Lice Ladies was far more effective and costs less! Lice Ladies GUARANTEES when you leave you are nit and bug free. I was contacted by the Lice Doctors customer service [and i use that term loosely]. The woman left a message on my voicemail but did not leave a call back number. She sent an email as well which I replied to and have never heard back. She stated that all companies have a follow up program which I am aware of however those procedures DO NOT include olive oil on my children's heads for 10 nights. I gave them the opportunity to right this situation and they never responded. My grievance is that I paid $300 for nothing - I feel swindled. read more

They were thorough, but be prepared. It's not a "one and done" deal. You are expected to follow a long process for eradication that lasts 21 days. Oiling and combing...over and over. If you have multiple kids like I do, it's exhausting. Also, I have requested an itemized receipt for days now (I literally have left a half dozen messages), but have gotten zero results. One person called back and said I'd have it by the end of the day (but nothing came). I need the receipt so I can submit it for my FSA reimbursement. I like that they came to the home, but I wish I would have gone elsewhere and been done with this once and for all. I won't be calling them again. read more

I'm not sure about the service yet. If the lice are gone for good I will be happy. But the at home part is 3 weeks. This brings me to the reason for the 2 stars- I did not know how much of my involvement was required. I've been doing olive oil and dawn treatments already. This didn't seem special although she went through my daughters hair several times more than I did. Also, I made the appt for 4pm, I received a call asking if 5pm was ok because they wanted to send their "experienced" person. I agreed and the person showed up at 6:45. Her experience was being on the job for 8 months. Also, I wish I understood the process better because having everything setup in the bathroom meant we couldn't use that shower to wash hair. A little explanation or tip would have been nice. read more

We called Lice Doctors yesterday and they had someone at my house within a few hours. I asked enough questions on our initial phone call so that I was very prepared for what would happen when they arrived and how we would treat lice going forward over the next few weeks. (at home treatment for three weeks is required no matter who you use or what products you use because of the life-cycle of lice. It's as simple as that. Back to the company, our technician was on time, SUPER friendly and made the kids feel super comfortable considering they were being treated for lice. She was very very thorough and at the same time had her eye on the clock, reminding me of the time and letting me know the things I could do to save time/money. We are so happy with her service. The tech also taught me a lot about lice.... and what I learned is that knowledge is essential in eradicating these little buggers. Although I hope we never get lice again, if it does happen, I'll definitely be calling Lice Doctor right away. read more

They are great!! This is our first time using a professional service and I'm so glad we did. Everyone from the person I made the appointment with on the phone to our technician were very helpful, nice, and informative. We had Stacy and she is amazing! She walked through every step with me and showed me everything. What the eggs look like and what the live bugs look like so if this ever happens again we know what to look for. She treated both the kids and checked the rest of the people in the house. One of the kids is extremely tender headed and she didn't complain once! The other kid was upset that she had to go through the process but Stacy was great with her as well and made her feel comfortable during the whole thing. You can physically see the difference from before and after the treatment. Stacy was very efficient in getting it all done in a timely matter too which I was very happy about since the charge by the hour. We were provided with a follow up plan which seems easy enough to follow. I'm so happy we decided to go with this company, and if I had to do it all over again I would! read more
