Free to enter. Unfortunately they don't have their Camel or lion. But the bulls, emu, ostriches and tortoise were great to see!

Free to enter, $1 per bag to feed the animals. It was a great time with my family. The service is good, the people are nice. The ambiance is very peaceful! We loved being able to feed the animals! Thank you Licon Dairy! The Herrera Family

We had such a great time. My baby loved the petting zoo. We had no idea it was so close to home. Loved the fact that it's free to enter the park, bu if you feel so inclined you can, A) donate at the designated donation boxes, B) buy the bags of feed for $1 each at the little market they have which also Carrie's drinks, candies, chips etc, or C) you can do both lol. They have cows horses, bulls, peacocks, bunnies, ostriches, kangaroos, donkeys, and more! They also have a little play structure for the kids which my little one was having a blast one. A little out dated but it did the job lol. There's a steakhouse on the property which we will try the next time we travel out there cause we will be back. Nice little place to get out to.

So much fun!! This place had lots of animals to check out and a legit petting zoo! We didn't eat there but people love their ice cream! We did buy some beef jerky and it was delicious! The animals put on quite the show. Be sure to check out my photos!

The only reason to go to San Eli is to buy some cheese and pet some goats. Unfortunately there isn't a whole lot else you can do in SE (visiting the Historic Art District is my second favorite thing to do in SE) so you know...when in Rome. I love that all of the animals are well fed (beyond the farm feeding the animals, dried corn is available in the store to feed most of the animals). The animals have access to water and a shaded area, but I just wish LD would do more to make the area aesthetically pleasing. I love petting all of the animals, but they're all so dusty (no, not dirty...dusty). But I always seem to fold under the adorable stare of the donkeys and end up petting all of the animals. The animals at LD do change out, but there's always a ton of different animals which makes the drive that much more worth it. The animals that don't change out are the camel, buffalo, chickens, bunnies, ostriches, goats, peacocks, and some deer-like animals. The donkeys change out, but they always have a few around. I'm unsure if the donkeys are young or just ridiculously small in stature. Either way, they're all eat-your-heart-out adorable. And the bigger pens change between horses and cows...so kind of luck of the draw what you'll run into over there. The lake...er...umm...pond. I've heard a lot of people call it a lake, but c'mon guys...it's a pond. It's dirty as hell, but it's just another thing I love about LD. You can rent out these pedal boats and do a couple of circles around the LD pond...awesome. Or you can fish (not sure what kind of fish are in the pond...my moneys on catfish). Or you can just take pictures of the ducks and swans. I usually end up doing the latter. The store is pretty cool before and I always save it for the end of the trip so I can leave with a bunch of dairy products. Of course they sell the infamous Azadero cheese, but you can also buy eggs, butter, milk...basically anything you'd expect from a dairy farm. I never leave without cheese and butter, minimum. Sure it could use improvements, but it's a great stop when in San Eli.

With that in mind, I think that for the size of the city this zoo has a lot of potential for the size of the city and has improved significantly in the last few years. I recently visited the El Paso Zoo for the first time in 15 years and was amazed as how much it has changed. Compared to other zoos, their prices are very reasonable and I like that they also offer military and senior discounts. We visited on Super Bowl Sunday and it was absolutely perfect! The place was not super busy and since it was a little chilly all the animals were super active. Some of our favorites were the penguins and the meerkats. One thing to keep in mind if you visit very early is that all of their stores and vendors are still closed so it does take a few hours for them to open everything up. They also had some sections of the zoo closed up for renovations but not too many. Frankly it was nice to see that they are working to improve the living conditions of the animals. Overall, we had an amazing time and will definitely back next time we are in town.

While this zoo is on the smaller side, I felt like there was enough to see to make it worth it. It's also only $13-15, depending if you're a resident or not! What really stood out about this place were the unique animals - There's a lot to see from the Chihuahuan Desert, and other nearby regions. Each area is also nicely organized by Africa, Asia, The Americas, etc. There were a few places closed due to renovations but I'll assume that's because of the time of year. This zoo is pretty great! And only a short ride from downtown!

My grandma spent most of the visit loudly pointing out the animal welfare issues -- tanks that looked too small, creatures that didn't seem healthy, and enclosures that felt more like afterthoughts than habitats. She wasn't wrong, but it definitely set the tone. Then my mom went to the bathroom and came out pale, insisting there was an escaped snake curled up behind the toilet. Staff didn't seem particularly alarmed, which somehow made it worse. Meanwhile, I just stood there watching the whole scene unfold with the emotional investment of a houseplant. If you're looking for an aquarium that feels safe, well‑maintained, and properly managed, I'd strongly recommend looking elsewhere.

The first annual Brew at the Zoo! To sum it up in one word: (in my Stewie Griffin voice) Excellent…read more First off, who doesn't like beer? No one, that's who. Okay that's a stretch, but even for those who aren't keen on sampling ten different craft beers of their choosing, Brew at the Zoo offered wine. And boy did that wine go fast. I'm a big kid at heart and I absolutely love the zoo so when I found out that the El Paso Zoo was hosting an after-hours adult event I was elated! The cool part was there were animal encounters throughout the night... only animals that could be up in the wee hours of the night like the lizards and snakes, but the elephants were out and about too which was awesome. I didn't mind that a majority of the animals were sleeping away hidden from the public eye, but I would've liked for them to keep the entire zoo open so you could've caught a glimpse or two of the animals that are always on display like the sea lions. The animal encounters were kind of cool because you got to take pictures with the different reptiles (but no touching... which is understandable because of the size of the event). But you came to this review for the beer. The beer was awesome! I got introduced to a lot of different brews and left with some awesome knowledge like the fact that there's a store in EP where you can buy all the brewing supplies you would need to make your own stuff at home. So cool! There were quite a few different vendors and they were from all over the country. I'm sure they'll add more breweries next year, but honestly there was enough as is. And you also had the option to purchase the actual beers. Next year I'd just like to see more wine especially since there's a list of wineries nearby. There was food on hand, but only out of their cafes and a few stands. And it was very limited. Brats and pretzels were available in their cafes. The brats were pretty good (cut in half for some reason... even though you could only order two at a time). I picked up some chicharrones (sp?) and you know, they were chicharrones. There were a couple of other options, but I think they could benefit greatly from getting the Food Truck Circus involved next year... just saying. Options are nice. This event was one of my favorite events in El Paso. I hope they do this every year and I can only imagine it getting bigger and better every time.

At first, the price of admission seemed a little steep, but any such worries quickly dissipated once I learned that the proceeds benefited the EP Zoological Society, so it is fundraising for a worthwhile cause. Ultimately the $35 price of admission is similar to what other craft beer events in EP and you get just as many samples. The brewery lineup was very good, mostly from Texas, like Adelbert's (shout out to the 512!), but with a good number of other states well represented. We weren't expecting to discover anything new but we were pleasantly surprised to see Nebraska Brewing which was new to us. I think this event would be better in the afternoon rather than at night, that way we can check out the zoo's exhibits during the event. I really had a fun time, 2015 was the first year and I'm hoping for many future ones. The folks who put it together clearly worked very hard and they successfully sold out the event, I hope they take my feedback as constructive suggestions, I'm not mentioning them for the sake of being critical. Loved, loved, LOVED the no kids allowed policy!
