My daughter I I dropped in to take add advantage of the brunch that was available until 3:00pm. Ordered the Brussel sprout appetizer to start which was good but needed more salt (or bacon), along with the Caliburrito w/ fries and the "Famous" chilaquiles (have green & red) with chicken and a fried egg, served with refried beans. I love to be surprised with a good finding. We came here for brunch- I had never heard of it. I also tend to stay away from the far east parts of town if I can. As soon as inside, I was impressed. What a great place this is! A food establishment embedded in a cycle shop! I met a gal pal there for some fare and lots of cyclists came in after their rides. Came in around noon, three other tables were occupied so it wasn't busy at all. My wife and I ordered a specialty coffee each and I ordered the chicken and waffles, wife ordered chicken strips and fries with the sauce on the side. Received our coffees were brought to us almost 25 minutes after we ordered them. My mocha was warm, I prefer my hot drinks to be hot. Wife's drink was gtg. Drank and finished our coffees, no food. We watched 2 different parties come and go and all we had was our coffees. 50 minutes later, our food was served. My plate was served warm. Again, my preference is hot. I didn't say anything bc I was hungry and the food was good. The crust coating on the strips is pretty good. My wife's strips came and they were drenched in sauce which had been ordered on the side. So they apologized and took the strips back and made fresh strips which took another 20 minutes. Waitress apologized several times, offered to give us a free pastry or a free drink. Declined them both. Just wanted to eat and leave. Got the check and paid $70 for cold food that was nothing but average and specialty coffees that fell short of special. They try to "resolve" the issue by giving you a discount to their brunch the next day (Sunday). The live Jazz band that was playing that day was Good, even though some of the members were late (the reason for the 2 Stars) I will say that I did not try the food, but my family did and I did get different different opinions on it, they all did agree that the food was not served warm. We will not return to this place I feel that if you pay to reserve a table at a Restaurant, the restaurant should be prepared for the amount of reservations they get and "We were not prepared for everyone to arrive at the same time" excuse is used it is unacceptable. read more

The only issue was that as soon as they greeted us at the door; we were informed that they would be having a special event and will close in an hour. Their hours of operation stated they closed at 9 and the event was scheduled to start at 8. I hope they get better organization because I did not appreciate being rushed to eat and leave as soon as possible. Though we were promised good service and they did not fail. First the host seemed like he didn't know where he was or maybe he was higher than a kite. There was two tables open and he asked if we wanted either one, we said can we sit at the bar as it was empty and he said "uhhhhh let me ask". So they let us sit. Then another person comes and mumbled something about the alcoholic drinks. Not sure what he said. Then the bartender finally asks us if we wanted drinks, I ordered drip coffee and wife ordered Bloody Mary and a glass of water. Took maybe 20 minutes to get the 3 drinks. Bloody Mary tasted terrible. Weak mix and no vodka. They use the well of the well for it too. Next a regular server came to take our food order. So wife ordered posole and I ordered the cowboy meal. Took about 30 minutes for food to arrive for my wife. And another 15-20 for me. I could see the cooks and servers standing around in the back. When my food came. The sorry excuse for sirloin (more like a slice of top round) came and was cold, no seasoning. The eggs were disgusting. It was like they went to a hotel continental breakfast and served me those eggs. They had to be liquid eggs. The breakfast potatoes were bland. Everything also had a taste like they use old cooking oil. Wife's posole was bland, no flavor. She had to use about 10 lime wedges to make it taste like anything. Went to la wheela on a date night with my girlfriend for their jazz and pasta event. We have been here a number of times for brunch and in that aspect la wheela doesn't miss. This particular event however, let's just say they should stick to pancakes and waffles. Apparently boiling pasta is too difficult. No one in the restaurant seemed to have any food on their table and when the food did start coming out of the kitchen, it would be 10 to 15 minutes between each person in your party. I got my pasta and after 15 minutes my girlfriend still had not received her food. When I asked to speak to the manager she was kinda rude. I told her what the issue was and she proceeded to make up excuses as to why they were backed up....not my problem. She said that my girlfriend's food would be right out and they would reheat mine. No thanks can you just charge me for my bottle of wine and let me get out of here. She brought my bill and tried to offer me a couple of coupons to I said no thank you and apparently that offended her so she snatched them from me. Well excuse me for not wanting a hand out, just do better and if pasta is too much for you to handle, like I said stick to waffles and pancakes.
