Arriving at 1:55pm, I was greeted and seated. 2:30pm rolls around I'm still waiting when it hit 2:50pm I asked Carlos how much longer and he said about 5 minutes (which was 10 minutes) and I was fuming by the time I got to the hairstylist seat. He kindly explained to me that because I called in for same day appointment I would naturally have to wait, which I wish he would of told me beforehand and I would of made an appointment a different day, whatever, after 10 minutes or so I cooled off. I've been going to Carlos for about 2 years now and loved every cut he gave me besides this most recent one. He took off about 2-3 inches and cut my front a little shorter than I would like and my hair looks really "choppy." With fine, straight hair the choppiness is noticeable. After about a week my hair grew a tiny bit and helped with this weirdness, but I'm kind of disappointed since I had asked Carlos about a pair of scissors he was using and he said it was to thin out people's hair/reduce the choppiness look, unfortunately for me he didn't use it enough, but overall I still like my cut, simple and layered. I won't let my haircut stray me from this place especially since it's only $15 for a women's haircut! And the whole scheduling thing I'm sure can be fix or I'll just make sure to go on a weekday. Carlos is friendly and can make conversation with anyone. I would recommend him! His schedule is M, T, F, and Sat.

She completely bleached my daughters hair and had the audacity to say that they would never do what the client didn't ask for she wanted to sugarcoat it and say that it was a "four finger" difference that they added to my daughter's hair they completely bleached it when she asked for caramel highlights, and instead of them rectifying the situation, she takes my daughter to the back and starts talking to her staff it's a quick fix with toner it's doesn't even do anything and gathers with her staff and starts talking about my daughters hair to the other girl that was helping her that Maria didn't even touch my daughters hair. She was annoyed my hair was still somewhat wet and she said to make sure I wash it the night before and to tell all my bridesmaids to wash it the night before. Ok, not an issue. The makeup portion went fine we had a good conversation, so things were looking up. I think she did a great job on my eyes, but I really wanted some great contouring and I don't think she did that. Hair, this is where we went downhill. She said my hair was dry. I apologized and promised to use product before the wedding. She said not to use product the week before because she wouldn't be able to do anything with it, I've never heard of such a thing. I asked for two pieces left out to curl to frame my face. While trying to curl them she said she didn't like these pieces and asked if she can just CUT them off! She was frustrated I didn't have extensions. And I told her I was open to them if it was needed to achieve the look and if she couldn't do that without them to focus on either the updo part or just curl the bottom. Idk why, but she teased the bottom. It looked like a rats nest. I don't understand how she could leave it like that. How would that make me want to come back with my bridal party!? Maybe I was just an inconvenience and she didn't want me to come back? Really disappointed. As soon as I saw it I said thank you and paid $150. I didn't bother to comment or ask her to change anything cause at that point I knew I'd be going elsewhere.

I came a few minutes early and was seen right away, with no wait. I asked Emily what she thought I should do with my hair and she said she really liked my current cut and suggested a trim, taking off a half-inch. I was pleased with her honest judgement: I had gotten a cut in Montreal a few months back and was very happy with the cut except it was overgrown. She trimmed it quickly yet skillfully, blow dried my coarse wavy hair into a flattering style and then trimmed and textured the ends so the cut lays well. Best of all, my hair looks great even when I don't heat-style it. Dried naturally, the waves are nicely layered and just seem to fall into place--a sign of a good cut. I've tried a lot of places in Elmhurst, but this is the first place where I've gotten a great cut at a reasonable price ($35 with first-time customer discount, not incl. tip). This isn't a cutting-edge, hyped up salon--it's a comfortable, relaxed place, mostly patronized by middle-aged moms like me (as far as I could tell from my weekday afternoon visit). No frills, easy-going, no blasting music, no product-pushing. Just a great cut and great service. I'll be back! Disclosure: I will receive a $20 discount (or 20%, I can't remember) for this review, but I'd give Emily and the salon five stars anyway!

They worked with me to make sure I could get an appointment that would allow me enough time to still get ready for the wedding I was attending. Lauren did my hair and suggested doing curl instead of just a blowout. I was hesitant, but let her do her thing. It turned out better than I expected and much more fun than just doing a blowout. She was very sweet and friendly, which made the experience even more pleasant. Jessica did my makeup and I was so happy with the end result. I had originally wanted airbrush makeup but after speaking with Jessica, I decided it probably wasn't the best option for my skin. I didn't give her much direction on what I wanted and wasn't sure what to expect. She took her time and didn't make it feel rushed at all. I can't express how happy I was with the end result. I'm not used to having a full face of makeup, but I wish I could have her do it for me every day! The best part was that it didn't look overly done and I didn't feel like I had a ton of makeup on. I was nervous about the application not lasting but by the end of the night, it looked like she had just applied it.
