They had my cut up mangoes and pineapples. These are priced competitively. So want to spend time with their various bakery pastries, but have cut them from the diet. Hope one day to at least, occasionally enjoy these treats. This store and all Lidl's are competitively priced. Very clean store. Nice employees as well. Is it busy? Yes just like the others. You might have to wait a little longer in line. That being said bargain shopping is worth it. They definitely don't have a lot of choices, but this is how they keep costs down. This German chain of grocery stores is awesome. They have the same return policy as Aldi: if you don't like an item, you get your money back and the same item back. I enjoyed checking out all of the aisles to see what was in stock. They have herb plants, unique fruit items, including plantains, Belgian chocolates ($4 a box!), and a unique selection of German sausages and meat items. The non grocery items were interesting and occasionally amusing. The inventory included children's clothing, sundresses, men's dress shirts, tools, automatic toothbrushes ($39), tents and kayaks. The dairy and produce items were competitively priced with Aldi (approx one block away). There was a decent selection of beers & wine (even boxed wine). The small bakery has fresh breads, pastries and pretzels. Bonus points for the tents and kayaks. read more

Since I cannot post multiple reviews, I have taken into account the good and the bad encounters since the store opened. Food quality: don't buy produce or fruits unless you take the risk to buy already moldy products or unless you want to consume the products immediately after purchase. Management does not screen the produce and fruit for mold. Availability: I posted a few pictures. At 18:00 in the evening, the bakery section is completely empty, the 'bakery personnel" do not bake additional rolls or bread, and they are extremely rude. No whipped cream, no bananas, no seltzer water, no lettuce, .... that happened on one day. Management: an absolute failure. I brought up the lack of disinfecting wipes and reminded them that the disinfecting spray was empty and they didn't acknowledge my concerns. The number of people without a mask has skyrocket and management and corporate doesn't do anything about it. A few months ago, I encountered a lady who visited the store with her kids. Non of them had a mask and the kids ran into me with their kid sized cart and were all over the store. Employees did not interfere even though they were close by and witnessed this. My email to corporate was ignored. No improvement. Management is rude. I have brought up price mistakes at the checkout because I look at what prices actually ring up. Management has never apologized got the inconvenience. I added a couple of pictures that depict the freezer box: bloody chicken juice that dripped into the freezer box and had been sitting there. This is highly unhygienic and should be removed immediately. Instead the staff is busy with their cell phones. I will update this review later, but you get the idea. read more

I must say that Lidl has now become our #1 grocery-shopping spot. Consider this a 4.5-star review. Can't give it 5 stars because we honestly can't get "everything" on our weekly shopping list here, but can get pretty close. And the quality continues to be superb. Both fresh & frozen seafood has been wonderful, & I like that nearly everything in their cases are either BAP-certified or USA-sourced. They also have some very interesting & reasonably-priced frozen seafood items like in-shell Escargot (6 for $3.49) & oysters on the half (6 for $6.99). While I'm not a fan of raw oysters & even if I was, wouldn't eat them frozen/thawed, these are FABULOUS when used for half-shell dishes cooked like "Oysters Rockefeller", & in fact we bought two trays today to enjoy for Valentine's Day for just that recipe. Anything keeps me from having to shuck them myself is fine with me. As for other protein products, their ground turkey is the least expensive in town, chicken prices are terrific, & I enjoyed a 10-oz. boneless ribeye steak last week that was a poem of butter tenderness for a mere $5.99 total. Yes - produce does sometimes need a look-see to ensure freshness, but do keep in mind that one reason Lidl manages to keep prices low is that they get a lot of their produce shipped in a few days a week, as they do not keep storage facilities on-site. So yes, some produce suffers. But if you use your head (& your eyes), you can easily select some really wonderful fresh produce at bargain prices. (Two-pound bag of Sunkist lemons for $1.69 anyone? Fresh limes for $.19 each?) As for bakery goods - their Apple Turnovers & crusty baguettes are to die for! As for "complainers" re: lack to stock - the store is only open until 9 p.m., thus by around 6-7 p.m., yes, stocks of fresh bakery items are depleted & they don't re-bake & restock just for latecomers. This is something else that helps keep waste & prices down. You snooze, you lose. Show up earlier. Last item - you can find some very nice wines here at really nice prices. Their Chiantis in particular have proved to be excellent. And while they do not keep a lot of staff on hand (yet another cost-saver), the few times we've had to ask an employee for something, they've been friendly & accommodating, even to the point of going into the back to see if they have something we want that hadn't been brought out & restocked yet. All in all, we now make this our very first stop when grocery shopping & will continue to do so. We save a bundle on some terrific food, & only visit the other local markets for the few things we can't get here. read more

This store is brand new. The parking here is easy and stress free. Lidl has the best produce at the best price around. I also like some of the cheese and cold cut offerings! Not impressed with the meat or frozen fish here though. Tried the frozen salmon. When it thawed, it smell fishy. Tried a steak imported from Ireland. It was ok though the taste was not the best. They have some fun cheap decorations for holidays. Good place to pick up essentials like bread, milk etc. read more

I loved shopping at Lidl in Burlington, NC. Loved their fresh bakery products, especially their chocolate croissants. They had lots of foods to try from other countries both Frozen and in the grocery aisle. Thrilled to find one within 25 minutes from me in Charlottesville, VA. Unfortunately, the store closed in July 2023. Now the closest is in Culpepper, about 45 minutes from me. I will probably take a trip now that they have some of my Fall Favorites available. The frozen butternut squash soup was amazing. Will have to buy several packages when I go. The stores I have visited were clean and well spaced out and easy to navigate. read more

Generally I shop at Lidl about once a month and spend at least $100. Today, $123. Consistently I have found the lineups are atrocious. No one seems to be monitoring this at all, including the cashiers, who usually will call the manager at other stores to receive help. Today the manager (I am assuming so, although without a name tag, just his demeanor opened #6 at 2:36pm) eventually came out and helped at a cash; but as he walked by the lineups 8 people deep (two cash open only) with over 39 people in the store (according to the counter at the door)) I asked if he could get some help at the cash, and he simply breezed by, with no reply or even acknowledging. The other people in the lineup also noticed his cavalier approach. It should never get to this point. Just saying - it takes all the joy out of shopping here at Lidl. I've had many 'could care less' retorts in the past from many of the staff, generally very unhelpful. I'm done. 100% based on customer service, not your product. I think the Lidl product is very international and amazing with good prices, but the lack of any kind of customer service - to help, or answer or even a good afternoon, or a smile, is not going to keep my business. There is never eye contact, and many of the prices are not listed, so you do need help; and no one wants to stop stocking shelves, with their heads down. Many fish in this sea here in Culpeper. Aldi's has never been like this, I find the staff their more than friendly,( but I think Lidl has a better selection. ) Management is petty cocky frankly, and I wonder how they treat their staff, which bleeds down to how they treat their customers. On a side note, I purchased a Silvercrest 3in1 cable charger and it will not work in ANY outlet, with ANY ipad/iphone or with ANY plug/adapter. $6.99. I didn't really know what to expect from this store. I've never been in a Aldi so I was thinking maybe Trader Joe's. I was wrong haha. There's basically limited random items, lots of generic stuff. Not somewhere you can really do your grocery shopping. Def would not recommend the meat section. I wandered around but didn't find much that I wanted to buy other than produce. They had a large amount of certain things like strawberries but most of them were starting to mold. I had to dig through several crates to find a container that looked okay. I bought a large container of kiwi that were the best I've had in awhile. They don't bag your items. If you do find something to buy here, bring your own bag! read more

There is a huge problem with the produce. Bagged Potatoes rot within 3 or 4 days. Cucumbers are soft fruit is okay for the most part. Everytime I buy bananas they are green and within 2 or 3 days they are rotten. I know for a fact they are not being stored correctly. They need to do some serious culling and cleaning of the produce department or find new suppliers. Now...for sale items... there is never enough in the stores on the day of sales. What gives with this? Everytime here lately that I go in for something they don't have it. I am guessing not ordering enough. When you ask the employees they blame it on the RDC. I don't know what is going on in this store but since it opened it has really gone downhill. I have started shopping elsewhere again for most things. It sucks because the prices are great. read more

Yes, I'm a fan, and for the last year do most of my grocery shopping at Lidl. I have grown to appreciate their store brands and I love that they offer so many organic products and produce. The wine and beer selection and PRICES can't be beat. But wait--no more cold beer and wines to take home anymore?? So... why did they reorganize the whole store layout this month? I was frustrated this week discovering that many of my usual items were now "somewhere else", and the worst was their putting all the organic products in one spot. I was pleased that Lidl did not do this like most US grocery stores do--whose idea was that to change? I want to see those products alongside the other similar items and then make my choice between the two types. Please, Lidl--put those organic items back where they belong by category! You might pick up some new customers willing to try those options when they see them next to non-organic offerings. read more

Very bad customer service. I couldn't find what I was looking for and the employees were to busy doing other things to help. The store manager walked by me 3-4 times without even saying hi or hello. I finally was able to get and employee to talk to me and she said they didn't have what I needed. It was literally on the shelf right beside her. read more

This Lidl is great, fully stocked, and clean! Everything at this particular store was very organized.

I shop here weekly, and take advantage of the significant saving that are offered on meats and certain dairy products. The produce section seems to be a bit on the inconsistent side, though. All in all, a nice store, located in Culpeper, VA. read more

I am basing my review on two visits, one was during the opening weekend. The second was about 2 months later. I was excited to see a competitor to Aldi. They were fully stocked on staples at reasonable prices. On my second visit, they were totally different. Half the stuff I saw the first time wasn't there. There weren't even tags for stuff that might have been out of stock. I am hoping our new Manassas location fares better. If they have all the stuff they had during opening weekend, it could be a great store. read more
