This cute boutique just opened up in May and I hope Yelpers will increase the traffic here to keep this store around for a long time. I apologize for not taking any pictures of the interior, but the color scheme is yellow with bee/honey inspired wall-to-wall goodies and gifts. There is locally made soaps, lotions, room sprays, candles, and of course honey (whipped, flavored). There are also bee inspired dish towels, decorative pillows, etc. The owner has a selection of honey sticks, about 15 or so different flavors. So far, I've tried the mango, cherry, orange blossom and the lemon. All of them are really good. The flavors are prominent, but not in your face. It's a good little bit of sweetness if you're ever craving a honey stick. I really love all things bee inspired and really had to restrain myself from buying everything. The observation hive is pretty neat and should definitely be checked out. We tried to find the queen bee amongst all her workers, but weren't lucky. The owner, Felecia Chavez, is an interesting woman. Besides being knowledgeable about bees and her products, she's got good stories too. If you're ever in Culpeper, you should pay her boutique a visit! read more

Absolutely a wonderful experience in this store. The owner gave us a tour of her shop to include the bee hive she has upstairs with a nice explanation of bee life for our daughter. We stopped by to buy a gift for a friend who likes lavender scented soaps and cosmetic articles. Upon arrival, the sales associate, who is apparently the owner was educating customers about the products. My wife and I headed upstairs to watch the bees. After we came back, the owner was still busy promoting a honey based product for acne control. I listened patiently and heard that the product would prevent acne and remove scars. Amazing, I thought, and hoped that she would promote her soaps and other products as patiently when talking to me later. The owner must have an immense knowledge of acne and skin conditions because she said 'trust me, this will help your acne and remove scars'. Who needs a ‍ physicians anymore? What a blessing honey is. Anyway, we the customers left I asked her how she was doing and she said 'good, I am doing fine' without asking me how I was doing. Her facial expression was already annoyed and I could not help myself and tell her that 'I am actually doing fine, thanks for asking'. When we asked about the soaps and where the soaps were manufactured, she told us that the only local ones were from Orange, Virginia, which of course is not local. Her attitude was very defensive and she did not move away from behind her counter to show us the soaps that she was referring to and her ton of voice did not get any friendlier. My wife and I looked at each other, we said 'thank you', and we left the store. Future customers: please do not walk into he store if you expect a friendly small town customer friendly treatment. Unlike other stores in downtown Culpeper, Va, this one does not appreciate customers. My mother would probably love this kind of store, but I will never ever show her that this store exists. read more

The two sweet ladies who work here are the best. They let us sample about five different kinds of honey. Then they didn't charge us for our honey sticks. I have been here twice now. The first time was fourth of July and had a very pleasant experience with the owner. She was sweet to my kids and even offered them a honey stick. Today when we went in it was a completely different experience. When we walked in the proprietor who once was kind to my children was surly and down right nasty. They wanted to buy a honey stick and she told them that if they were going to go upstairs to see the bees to do it now and wouldn't let them pick out their honey sticks. Me not wanting to spoil their time I told them to head on up. I was walking to the stairs as she yelled at me that I had to go with them. This is their policy and I agree with it because I don't allow my children to run a muck or go off on their own and don't think others should either. However her tone to meh the customer was unappreciated and down right rude. When we came down the kid's still wanted a honey stick but she ignored them while having a conversation with what seemed to be a friend. My children were patient and were waiting but I had enough. We left the shop without a purchase and took them to the lollipop station for a peice of Candy instead. I will never return to this store with or without my family. A small buisness like this really should focus more on customer service. I don't expect this place will last but if it does it will not be from the help of families in our community. read more

My elderly mother, myself and my two teenage girls visited La Bee da Loca this morning. We were rudely greeted by the owner, who seemed annoyed that we even entered the store. My mother and I proceeded to look at the soaps displayed up front, while my teens started to walk upstairs to look at the bees. The girls were not even half way up the stairs when the attendant rudely told me they could not go upstairs alone. She literally stared at me and was extremely rude. Feeling extremely uncomfortable, I asked my daughters to walk down stairs, wished her a wonderful day, and left the store. This was my second visit to the store, and sadly my last. Let me add that both my daughters are very polite, quiet and respectful. My oldest also volunteers downtown often (on 3rd Thursdays) helping downtown businesses (like hers) grow. Costumer service is a huge part of a successful business, and I am afraid La Bee da Loca needs to work on their customer service skills. read more

The observation hive upstairs was a fun experience and Felicia is an extremely knowledgeable and patient teacher - she was kind enough to share her time explaining the intricacies of the bee world to our small group! This place is one of the secret gems of old town Culpeper. VA. Tucked in between the adorable boutiques & restaurants, you'll find the spectacular shop of La Bee da Loca, where I t's all about the bees! They have an amazing assortment of organic honeys. And the shop's owner is beyond friendly & inviting. A beekeeper herself, she was so informative. She even has an observation hive upstairs (super cool)!. My wife swears she's going to try every honey she sells! We took home the lavender infused honey and chokecherry whipped honey, and both taste absolutely amazing! read more

I highly recommend La Bee Da Loca and have repeatedly visited the shoppe when in Culpeper. The owner, Felecia Chavez, is very knowledgeable and compassionate about Bees. I have traveled to 3 continents, visted many cities, and shopped in many stores and always make my return visit to this lovely shoppe. Sometimes there are many patrons with only Felecia behind the counter, so please exercise some patience when shopping. I hope you will consider this positive comment and by-pass the few less than flattering comments as that is not La Bee Da Loca. By the way I love the Peach and Mango Honey sticks!! read more

While wandering around Culpeper, my sister and I went into La Bee da Loca; it's a charming store full of honey and bee products, ceramic serving dishes, books, jewelry, and the like. One might have predicted those items, but upstairs there's a bee hive, behind glass, with a tube that lets the bees go in and out - - utterly fascinating. The owner, Felicia Chavez, put a sign next to the bee hive, telling how to spot the queen. She is a first-class raconteur, telling customers about bees, hives, honey and pollen, and cleared up a few bee-related misconceptions along the way! I bought honey and a children's book about bees (naturally), and plan to go back with kids soon; just a wonderful place. read more

i have so many thoughts & feelings about my experience regarding this shop, im not sure where to begin! its gorgeous, cute, rustic, fresh, immaculate...every item placed with great care. the products are divine & a wonderful assortment to browse. all very reasonably priced. for those that arent aware of how vitally important honeybees are to humans & this earth, or feel the problem is beyond themselves, shopping here can help. in addition to the aesthetically comforting atmosphere, the owner is absolutely awe-inspiring. what a human, what an individual!! in the few moments i had with her, i knew i was speaking with someone truly special. i am thankful to share this planet with her. she literally makes the world a better place!!! i very much appreciate her service supporting our troops too. i live an hour from culpeper but made the drive specifically to shop here. i cant wait to go back for a visit & maybe take a day to volunteer somehow. la bee da loca will forever be in my heart & on my mind. this is the earths boutique. thank you so much!! read more
