The Culpeper Farmers Market, open Saturdays from 7:30 a.m. to 12 noon from the end of April to…read moremid-November, is a friendly & delightful place to stop by & do some local shopping. It's rare that I ever skip a Saturday morning there. In fact, this morning had me lugging home bags of baby Rainbow Swiss Chard, baby Tatsoi greens, & a type of baby Asian lettuce; some lovely apples; heirloom tomatoes; green beans; baby white potatoes; mixed colors of bell peppers - I'm sure I've left something out, but you get the picture. There's a fairly wide diversity of products available - while the majority of vendors are selling fruit & vegetables (some certified organic), there are also several local honey vendors, a smattering of fresh local meat producers (beef, pork, poultry, lamb - even goat sometimes!), eggs, both cut & potted flowers, baked goods, preserves, herbs/spices, a few arts/crafts, & even a local mushroom grower. During the spring months, there are plenty of garden plants & heirloom vegetable seedlings for sale, & during the summer, there are even a few cooked food vendors now & then, serving anything from grilled items to Indian fare. If there's one gripe I have, it's that I find it doubtful that all of the vendors are actually selling what I'd consider "local" produce; I'd swear that a few vendors - & it's fairly easy to spot which ones - are bringing in produce from Lord knows where. But I know which vendors are, in fact, local & honest (they're easy to spot), so make a point to purchase from them exclusively. Bottom line - very nice spot to while away a Saturday morning & pick up some healthy locally-grown produce for the following week's meals.

We were there really early (7am), so there's a chance that my experience wasn't representative, but…read morethere were only a few stands. We saw some fresh produce and a local butchered meat stall but that was it. I thought there'd be a little more vendors there with a few more options. I'll try going by another day and update accordingly. For now, I was not impressed.

The coffee was great and I loved that they had a list of sugar free flavors to choose from. The staff were so friendly and really care about customer service. The ambiance was so charming. I love how they support the other small businesses around them by decorating with the local botanical shops plants and handing out doggie treats from the local pet care shop. Overall great experience and I cannot wait to revisit.

I ordered the smoked salmon on a bagel and tip them 33% (happy to have someone else make my lunch) They asked what I wanted on it. And then brought a plate with everything spread out on the plate. I had to spread the cream cheese, place the capers, the lettuce, the tomato's, the salmon.., I had to make my own freaking sandwich!!! I got my hands messy in the process then had to go wash my hands before eating the sandwich that "I" made. The sandwich was very good. I just ask that you make it for me. Please!! People go out so that they don't have to fix their own!!! Please take this to heart and make a change Thank you

You write on a ticket which sandwich you'd like and soon your name is called. For $9.00 a sandwich, chips and a drink is a good deal, especially when you see the size of the sandwich! They pile on the meat and aren't shy with the fixings. There's outdoor seating, either open air or covered, to enjoy the scenery while you eat. If you're still hungry, the bakery is amazing; pies, cakes, mini whoopie pies; tarts, and more! There's also a huge aisle of candy and sweets. Plus an ice cream bar at the other end of the store. Every aisle is filled with shelves of jams, honey, baking goods, dry goods, spices, soups, condiments, nuts, dried fruits and much more. Love this spot and come back time and time again!
