LIDL is popping up all across Long Island and the five boroughs. I have shopped in quite a few and this one is my favorite. They have aisles and aisles of different selections. it is completely inexpensive and you can get a lot for your money The bakery section has some rolls and croissants. I like their packaged preferred selection hazelnut cream filled croissants. They sell out pretty quick . Last time I was here one of the employees went in the back to see if they had some waiting to be stocked outside, that was very considerate. The food section has a variety of unique items. The dairy section as well. That you can find different types of sausages through the year, and also some goodies from Europe. The store itself inside is very clean, and the aisles well stocked . Parking is great ! When I do visit family in Long Island, this is the only LIDL I shop at. read more

I got this big bag of "fresh caught" frozen salmon for $8.99 ! In Stop and Shop , a small bag of frozen salmon is $10.00 to $13.00 !! No- this is not Trader Joes but I do save a LOT of money when I come here . And yes, some of the product is generic. TORTURE: I just went gluten free for health reasons; Lidl has an AMAZING bakery that will have you side stepping your local "good bakery" for Sunday Morning breakfast runs when guests are in town ! read more

I have been going to lidl for years and have never really had an issue but today I went to buy some stuff and this worker at the cashier that was a guy with long hair gave me an attitude for no reason. I asked him a simple question with no bad tone about the app and he came off with a very rude tone. I understand we may all have a bad day but apparently, he's given an attitude to other people I know. I'm not the type of person to give back an attitude but there could be another person that will eventually if his bad attitude towards customers continues like that. It's simple, if you feel the need to be a rude cashier towards customers, then simply don't work there and find a more private job. read more

They are calling Lidl another Trader Joe's , definitely not. It's more like a Pepperidge Farm & Entenmanns outlet store. Horrible cold cuts, prepackaged meats, and they charge between 7-10 cents for bags. There is a bakery department that is crowded but thE bakery product's looked like any supermarket bakery not your true independent baker. Very strange lay out of items. Center of store is housewares and some clothing. Very friendly customer service but not a fan of Lidl. I hope this isn't the future of food shopping, I'll just stick to my favorites on Arthur Ave. read more

As one reviewer said, effing Boomers are ripping this place up for no reason. My 2 year old asked for fruit when we were driving around and then there was Lidl. Not sure why there's a fuss over a empty parking lot, but here's my take. It was around 6:30PM and the lot had enough light aNd the wagons weren't all over the place, tidy. I liked. Store was very brightly lit and workers were humming along. Produce was first, lovely selection. A manager asked if I needed help and I was directed to the pickles. Easy peasy. Wandering around I found everything one could need in a supermarket. Plus a large aisle with neck pillows, blankets and some tools. Instead of being closed minded with the Lidl off brands, I decided to try some. Imagine that, trying something new and not bitching about Best Market. Which sucks by the way. Their aisles were wide open which is very welcome. My shopping trip ended with some paper towels, their brand is pretty good quality. 2 for 10, that's 12 good rolls right there. Large package of their brand toilet paper, strawberries, grapes, bananas, pickles, their brand k cups, their brand bag of coffee, some of their brand sensitive wipes. The wipes were very good for any parent reading this. Tyson dinosaur chicken nuggets, super cheap too. And a gallon of milk and a bag of apples. Great buy for 62 bucks. On the way out I spoke with the manager and another employee. They asked how I liked thE store and if there was anything they could do better. I spoke with them for 5 minutes and they even went over the Store app with me. Super nice and very helpful. Seriously good store if you give it a chance. Don't be a boomer and go there just to shit on the store. Maybe the boomers were frightened by the POC? Who knows. read more

Probably one of the major places I miss in NY! Lidl grocery has great prices, and some great items you can only get there. The dark chocolate granola and the gelato are some of my must haves. The prices are so reasonable similar to Aldi in set up and what they carry. My parents love the produce and bakery items. My boyfriend and I were doing a shipt order and nothing was in the isle it was supposed to be. This store is so unorganized. Once we found everything we went to the cash register and the man did not even ask if we wanted bags which makes no sense because where would we put everything. My boyfriend said we needed two bags and he never gave us any so we asked if they had bags and he said how many would you like to buy (knowing we're shopping for someone else) my boyfriend said you couldn't have charged it on their card and he said you never asked in a rude tone. I went back and tool picture of sign and showed it to cashier... he called manager 2 times before he finally came over 10 minutes later. This supermarket is strategically located on Jericho turnpike, making it very convenient. Despite the illusion of ample parking, I always find the parking lot to be cramped and crowded. Always be careful! When entering the Lidl supermarket, the first thing I noticed is, this is the first supermarket I've ever been to in my whole life that has no hand baskets. They have carts galore, but no baskets? Why is that? Are we residents of Huntington Station considered to be too high risk to invest in baskets? Think we'll just walk out with them? Ah, but I digress. I'm just asking questions. LIDL is good for buying staples. Common produce is competitively priced, but don't expect to find anything the least bit unusual or unique. Do you need okra or green chilis? Hah! You won't find them at LIDL! They have some halfway decent frozen food that's competitively priced (their own in house brand), and staple items like orange juice and milk. I'm not going to rate the fish and meat offerings since I'm vegetarian. The bakery isn't fantastic but it's got basic items at decent prices. They even have donuts for those who would rather not go to Dunkin. I just go here for a few very basic items at decent prices when I'm in the area, and it's more convenient for me to buy them at LIDL. If I need a lot of things or it's not convenient, I'll just go someplace else. read more

Wonderful new supermarket option, sort of an upscale Aldi (a German import as well). So new and clean, and very well laid-out. Wonderful produce, great dairy and meat section, everything seemed fresh, new, and very reasonably priced. The worst. Couldn't wait for the grand opening. It was far from Grand. I needed (1) onion. Could only find a bag of 3 lbs. So convoluted. Glad I bit the bullet and went there. I'll never go back. BRING BACK "BEST MARKET". Only good thing is that the line moves quickly. read more

This supermarket is an ironic mix between an Aldi and a moms and pops market, the prices are the reason you go there, the people that worked there are a bit ... careless for lack of a better word... some of them act as if they don't have any supervision. The variety of products is very limited as they carry mostly their own brand. Overall is ok. read more

I was surprised and disappointed that Lidl totally renovated Best Market, which had a good selection and quality, to open a supermarket with such limited and prepackaged foods. I wonder if LIDL researched the demographics of each area in LI where they were going to place their stores, which is obviously in the Best Market locations. LIDL is the exact OPPOSITE of Best, which had a fresh (as in NO plastic) produce section, a fresh meat and seafood section, an actual deli, an olive bar, and varied dairy items and a great, friendly staff. Based on the early reviews so far, I am not sure how well LIDL is going to do in Huntington Station. As another reviewer observed, the parking lot is pretty much spotty when it used to be quite full when the location was Best Market. I go past the lot a few times a week. Might be true. Oh, well. This Lidl is mostly clean. We visited this place on a Friday evening and it was quiet. It was easy to spread out and keep distance from anyone because there weren't many customers in the store. What was mostly annoying was that some of the staff weren't masking properly and didn't have their nose covered. It also wasn't organized in a way that made it easy to find things. Because of COVID, you can't get individually bakery items like you could in the past, so you have to buy them packed in groups of 4, which isn't the most convenient when you only want 1 or 2 of each item. Typical Lidl. The workers are robotic and emotionless. They hired a bunch of new ones and they were blocking the entire produce section, difficult to buy anything with people standing around looking at a clipboard together. I bought a water flosser from the garage sale aisle and it had an orange sticker, which generally means the item is smacked up or it was a return. The box looked fine so I assumed the item was fine. I just opened it and the water flosser is dirty. It still had a drop of water in it. To top it off it doesn't even turn on. I don't have the receipt so I can't return it, but please please please be careful when you buy personal care items from this store. read more

Lidl is a market that caters to the lowest common denominator of food shopper. Cheap chicken nuggets, yeah! One reviewer pats himself on the back for being so bold as to try something new in a no-name brand. What a bold trendsetter. A legend in his own mind. The reason that no-name brand is on the shelf is because it is the cheapest crap Lidl buyers could find to satisfy shelf space. This is the Lidl committment to us. If one is willing to feed a two year old cheap dinosaur shaped chicken nuggets, that's all you need you know about who will find this Lidl acceptable. Coming to our area from Queens I can see how one might see this Lidl as a huge step up from the bodegas and small markets available there. But it is a huge step DOWN from what was there. That's all. Enjoy your pre-packaged, frozen, no-name, processed, cheap in more ways than one - food from Lidl. By the way...I happened to be in the Best market in the Mayfair shopping center in Commack the other day. What a beautiful store that is by any measure. LIDL has become my new favorite supermarket. They sell high quality foods at low prices. They have Organic meats & a Gluten Free section for us health-conscience consumers. I've even bought small appliance there such as a hand mixer, small charcoal grill for my last-minute BBQ & natural cleaning products, similar to Whole Foods, but at a fraction of the price. Husband wanted to check out the steaks so we decided to give it a try. When you walk in it's very bright and welcoming. Steaks were ok, not cheap but we where there already and decided to continue to shop... everything was fine until we got to check out.. there was 1 cashier and we didn't have a lot of items so we decided to go to self check out...And we experienced the worse and saddest case of racial profiling.... one of the workers came out of no where and basically hawked us... at 1st it didn't bother me because i thought at 1st she was being helpful but, she questioned almost everything we scanned... she even rested her arm on the shelf to continue to watch us... then asked my husband if he scanned the brown recyclable shopping bag.... like really we are buying steaks you think we're going to steal your damn brown bags.... read more

Well, this place is different than the usual market, and for the most part I like it. It appears that a lot of people are upset at the store carrying mostly Lidl branded products. I'd recommend giving these products a try - I haven't been disappointed yet - the salad dressings, snack foods, salsas, condiments, frozen food (the Lidl pizzas are tasty!), and dairy products are all very good. As for the deli - I don't miss waiting on the deli counter line at all. The cold cuts and cheeses are very good as well. I actually prefer that these foods are packed in a clean, controlled environment, instead of behind the questionable cleanliness of the former deli counter. The seafood is actually very good - the fish, scallops, shrimp, etc. come frozen, but are delicious and high quality. Does anybody really miss the Best Market seafood counter? I found that many of the former employees in this area were unhelpful and not very knowledgeable. And the salmon offered by LIDL is WAY better than what Best Market sold. I'm very happy with their meat/chicken/pork offerings. I've had some very good steaks, ground beef, chicken breast, pork loin and ribs from their meat department. Initially, I thought that the products offered in the middle area of the store were an odd idea. However, I've purchased some very useful tools and gadgets in this section - a bike repair stand (only $30), a cordless rotary tool ($18), a very serviceable cordless screwdriver ($10!!!) and several other useful items. As for cons: They often run out of sale items, their fruit and vegetable selection is limited (but usually well-packaged and protected from being coughed on and from shopper's dirty hands), and some products are difficult to find. The anticipation of this supermarket opening was a huge disappointment. I truly thought it was going to take the place of Stop and Shop and be far superior than Best Market, which the latter, I absolutely loved. I thought Lidl was offering something so much better. I wish Best Market would return. Lidl's selection in produce, meat, deli meats, and general food items are not what I was expecting for my local supermarket. I'm starting to notice a trend with their sale items. At any given time during their sales roughly 85% of the items are sold out. I found it strange after experiencing this 2 weeks in a row. I'm starting to suspect bait and switch. A quick google search and I found several articles alluding to this and even a court case in regards to this illegal practice. I was very excited for the opening of this supermarket as it's so highly rated, and it definitely didn't disappoint! Surprised by the negative reviews here. It seems they are comparing it to other markets but if you're complaining... just stop coming? ‍ This supermarket is actually my favorite. They always have very good deals and everything is so fresh. We love the chicken and meat here. I usually can't tell the difference between brands, but something about their meat puts them ahead. We tried a ton of their brand and enjoying everything so far. I really like their candy variety. It's interesting to try off brand things that you can't get at other stores. The only constructive criticism I have is their app. I don't see the point of putting in our numbers if we aren't accruing points or getting special discounts. I wish there were some sort of perk for being a member other than getting seafood discounts. Their employees (except one guy I find extremely rude) are very very kind and helpful! read more

I like European-style supermarkets, and Lidl is no exception. The store is clean and has spacious aisles, lots of fresh produce and an ample selection of everything else. Staff is nice. I went over to that place once a little while ago. It was ok but my expectations are pretty high. I have heard good things about that place and has good deals, but when I went there, there isn't that much which is why it lost 2 stars. I have been a loyal Lidl shopper since the day the store opened. Coming from Europe, I knew that they were different from the common supermarkets in the neighborhood. The Huntington Lidl has been improving weekly and if you like quality at a good price, with weekly seasonal specials, this market is for you. However, today I'm writing this review not to praise the store itself, but to praise the management. Yesterday I was shopping with my daughter at the store, when a man was spotted by other shoppers taking pictures of my daughter. The management, with the lead of Shannon, was unbelievable in addressing the situation.
