With parking an issue in Long Beach, it's wonderful that Plaza Wine has access to the largest "FREE" parking lot in Long Beach. The selections of wine and liquors at Plaza is just so very extensive. I really like walking into their clean well-stocked establishment and seeing the friendly smiles of the employees. It's interesting to note that whereas some of the products will be priced slightly higher than discount stores, there's a big difference that's worth it. First of all, you're not waiting for hours on a long line. also the type of products here are of a better quality they're fresher they come in nice display boxes with glasses and extras for gift-giving and the holidays. I recently purchased a bottle of Dom perignon vintage 2008 it's a fine vintage and it can't be found in discount stores. Also it came complete in a nice box and pamphlet explaining the house of Dom. Dom perignon doesn't come this way at the discount store, they just hand you the bottle sans box..good luck with that? has anyone out there tried the "Pink Dom $$$?? It's absolutely earth-shattering. I noticed there's always a fresh different product in stock here. I see the delivery trucks coming everyday. With the free parking and great selections of fresh product and wonderfully helpful employees. Plaza wine and liquor is my go to liquor and Lotto store when I'm in Long Beach. After we arrived at 10:02, the people in the shop were acting like I was not at the door knocking (as well as also dealing with the degenerates in the area, mouthing off at me). After 5 minutes in, the girl we spoke to on the phone, talks to me through the glass saying, we aren't allowed to sell alcohol after closing, which is FALSE. New York laws allow sales of wine & spirits from 9 A.M to MIDNIGHT, Monday - Saturday, in other-words, she either lied or was misinformed, or did not want to reopen, which means we were just given the run-around for no reason. Just tell us you could not wait! While buying here in the past, they are also very selective about who they ID. The girl serving me, who would probably have to be 21+ years to sell me alcohol, has no problem ID-ing a fully bearded fellow like myself, while not ID-ing the younger, hoodie wearing person who was in line before me. All the while, she herself is noticeably younger than I. Yet they aren't allowed to stay open a few minutes past 10? LAUGHABLE. They also hike up their prices. This little store is exactly the type of hidden Jewel that I love to find. These little locally owned places have all sorts of rare and long since sold out vintages waiting in their back rooms. Walking inside I could see that there were thousands of bottles of wine in this little store. You couldn't NOT find what you were looking for. and the folks here were really so nice helping me and answering my questions. Not only was I able to easily find my favorite Ruffino Reserva Gold Label Chianti, still wrapped in Ruffino's emblem embossed tissue paper. But unwrapping it I happily discovered it was a sweet vintage 2010. @$43..A wonderful rare find indeed. This vintage and label will stand up next to the finest of Wines in its category. This will make a most fitting toast to enjoy with my wife and moon cakes. I thought it was adorable that the little place was husband and wife owned and I loved seeing them working here together. I really prefer to support local family-owned businesses exactly like this place. I would certainly prefer to pay a few dollars more here then patronize the big box bullies. So ..take the train & phone in your orders as you're on the way.. or park in the Free parking Rite Aid shopping center across the street and just walk across. And what's not to love??
