Founders Classical Academy Las Vegas Our family's experience with Founders Academy has been deeply disappointing and troubling. Based on our interactions with school leadership, we do not feel that this school respects its students or their parents, particularly families from the Black community. We raised a serious concern after our son was spoken to by a teacher using language we found inappropriate and unacceptable. When we attempted to address the issue directly and respectfully, our concerns were dismissed and redirected rather than acknowledged. Despite clearly communicating the urgency of the matter to school leadership, we were ignored for days before a meeting was finally scheduled. When we did meet with leadership, instead of being heard, we were repeatedly interrupted, talked over, and made to feel as though our concerns were invalid. Our child's experience was dismissed outright, despite the fact that students were the only witnesses present during the incident. The focus was consistently shifted away from the actual issue and onto controlling the conversation rather than resolving the problem. Most alarming was the escalation by a member of leadership, who accused my husband of being aggressive simply for using his hands while speaking and went so far as to threaten to call the police. This was completely unwarranted and deeply disturbing. For Black families, threats of law enforcement are not just inappropriate they are intimidating and harmful. No parent calmly advocating for their child should ever be treated this way. Unfortunately, this behavior reflects a pattern. Prior interactions with the same administrator have been marked by rudeness, condescension, and a lack of professionalism. At no point did we feel respected, supported, or valued as parents. A school should be a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment for children and families. Based on our experience, Founders Academy failed to meet that standard. We strongly caution other parents especially Black families to carefully consider whether this is a school environment where their voices will truly be heard and their children treated with dignity.

There is, in our opinion, no better option than the Meadows School. This is the kind of school that parents in Los Angeles, San Francisco or NYC have to jump through hoops to get their kids into, with massive politics and financial commitments at play. Yet in Vegas, many parents (including on our street) send their kids to Dawson due to its reputation for being easier and more artsy as they are terrified of the academic competitiveness of Meadows. If these same parents were in the Bay Area they'd be doing backflips trying to get their kids into the same sort of school there as Meadows. The campus is amazing. The curriculum is challenging. The kids are happy and very engaged in sports, theater, charity and other after-school activities. The parents are friendly and, especially the "Meadows Moms", work tirelessly to help out. Yes, your kid has to test into each school (K, middle, high). Great, we love a meritocracy rather than forced social promotion. And my daughter will have friends for life as she goes from K thru 12 here.

The current sophomore class experienced a loss of several long-term students between freshman and sophomore year. For a small school like Meadows, that is meaningful. These were not families simply passing through; they had been part of the Meadows community for years. When several long-term families leave from a class in one year, it raises questions about their experience and what is happening within the school community. In my view, the current administration is a major concern. I have also seen changes in the sense of community, along with the loss of long-standing families, faculty, and traditions that once made Meadows special. What is most disappointing is seeing a school that once felt so stable and connected become a place where long-term families are no longer staying. That kind of change doesn't happen without a reason, and it deserves to be recognized.

I truly appreciate the communication from his teacher, the IEP team, and everyone involved. They have always made me feel like we were working together to help my son thrive. These events make learning exciting, and my son genuinely loves going to school. I feel incredibly grateful that my son was selected through the lottery to attend Somerset Academy Lone Mountain. My baby wasn't in not one of those pictures to the point I had to call the school and ask was she even there. That upset me so bad and really there is nothing they can say to make me understand this. I would never send my kid back to this school I thought I was sending her to a good school but this school is not it. I'm very disappointed.

There's a level of care and awareness here that goes beyond curriculum and shows up in how students are supported day to day. The environment feels calm, respectful, and focused. Communication has been clear and consistent, and when questions or needs arise, the team is responsive and thoughtful in how they handle them. What I appreciate most is that the school recognizes that students don't all learn or grow in the same way. There's flexibility and understanding built into the structure, which allows students to stay engaged without feeling pressured into a one-size-fits-all system. Overall, Journey Education feels like a place where students are seen, supported, and given the space to develop at their own pace. We've been grateful for the experience. I would love to see a foreign language offering added in the future.
