There was a small line but it moved quickly. There are some tables and booths for small to medium groups, but they fill up fast! We were lucky to snag one! Staff was quick and efficient at taking our orders and getting everything out to us! Enjoyed a latte and a breakfast sandwich on this trip, and both were delicious! Super solid coffee shop for those in the area needing that caffeine boost!

Walking in, there are lots of wood accents, stools, booths and PLENTY of plug ins if you want to come here and study/get work done! The service was disappointing to be honest. This place had the vibes to have such a fun crew working and instead we barely even got 2 words for the person who rang us up. The person who made our drinks also had zero interaction. Such a missed opportunity! This is why I removed a star. The coffee: This is one of my new favorite coffees I have ever had! I got an iced whipped honey latte and it was DELICIOUS! The coffee wasn't overly bitter, had good flavor and the whipped honey was definitely a unique treat! Overall, I really did enjoy my time at this coffee shop! It definitely can get busy but don't let that deter you from getting a delicious coffee from these guys! Oh and yes, they do have some snack/lunch/bakery items here to if you get hungry!!

Luckily, the Catzen Café is just a few doors down, so coffee and cats seemed like the perfect place to start. The barista greeted me with a big smile and kindly explained how everything works. I also had the pleasure of meeting the owner, who was incredibly friendly and welcoming. I grabbed a latte, opened my laptop, and headed into the cat den - where the real fun began. Tim the Enchanter was the first to greet me. Definitely not a werewolf (despite the name), but extremely friendly and very curious about what I was doing on my laptop. Apparently he takes his role as office supervisor very seriously. Then there's Big Cup of Joe, the gorgeous gray-and-white Maine Coon who is absolutely magnificent and looks like he runs the place. Leroy, the laid-back orange tabby, stopped by to say hello, and Halloween Blizzard might be one of the most striking cats I've ever seen. Between great coffee, curious cats, and such a welcoming atmosphere, this place is a gem. As a brand-new neighbor, I can already tell this will become one of my favorite spots. I'll definitely be back... and next time I'm bringing my cat- and coffee-obsessed friends with me.

You can either enjoy your visit viewing all the cats through the windows that wrap around the cat room or book some time and enter the room where all the cats reside. I don't remember all the rules if you're only allowed to just pet them, but there are a lot of cats. At the time of my visit, there was a pregnant cat that was staying downstairs in the privacy of her own room, but you could view her on the cat cam. The cats had the freedom of going downstairs through their own private entrance. I did try the breakfast sandwich, which the bread I think either was mochi bread or had syrup on it, it was slightly chewy. I liked it, but it would get stuck in your teeth.

The food was amazing, hospitality was cozy, atmosphere was relaxing to be in. Their menu has much more we will need to return to try. They have an additional location in Minneapolis and a spot at the MN State Fair every year! I'm most eager to get back here to try breakfast soon! Brunch / breakfast is my love language. This place was perfect for the dinner atmosphere we needed on a cold MN evening. It would also be a great pick for date night. The things we tried and you should too: Chicken Wild Rice Soup (10/10) Buttermilk Chicken Sandwich (with the Maple Chipotle Glaze) Almond Encrusted Walleye Redemption Burger their fries were also a bit hit at our table Basically we loved this place and can't wait to try more items from them For more awesome food spots check out the account mallorymademetryitmn on Instagram!

Nice to eat at a place that thinks about the quality of ingredients and leaves the unnecessary artificial garbage out! The atmosphere inside and outside were very nice. You are greeted with all the delicious treats then the restaurant was really clean and had nice, dark woodwork throughout. We ate outside and loved all the vegetation. Only issue was the bugs wanting to eat with us but that's what we get for wanting to eat outside. Aside from the bugs, totally recommended especially if you have to watch for food allergens.

Drove by this place often during our stay here in St. Paul. Based on my affection for " hole in the…read morewall" type places & the restaurants outside appearance I knew I had to eventually give it a try. The interior is clean & cozy with just the right amount of booths & tables plus a Waffle House style counter right in front of the flat~top griddle. The very personable & friendly wait person immediately brought me water, followed by a hot mug of coffee. Happily it was just a regular "cup of Joe" diner style coffee instead of the dark, muddy, bitter Starbucks imitation stuff found in all the trendy places in this area. After checking out the plate of the other counter customer I decided to have what he was having; the Uptowner eggs Bennie. English muffin w/andouille sausage patties, perfectly poached eggs hollandaise sauce sprinkled lightly w/ cayenne & a large order of crispy hash browns made with real fresh potato instead of the dehydrated-then rehydrated boxed kind served in most places. Everything was absolutely spot on! The breakfast menu also features pancakes, various egg dishes & many omelet choices. Sadly, I could only eat one breakfast! I really enjoyed watching the cook rapidly crafting the various dishes in front of me; this guy was a genius at the grill! He & the other cook seemed like they really enjoyed their work, smiling & laughing while carrying on a conversation in Spanish. In short; the food was terrific, the service awesome and the atmosphere welcoming & neighborly. I will be returning often!

I love the authentic cafe vibe in here: cozy, simplistic diner basics like counter stools and booths. The place is adorned with drawings from kids and adults alike showing love for the Uptowner - so cool. I ordered some breakfast classics: hashbrowns, bacon, eggs, etc - and WOW the meal was delish. The hashbrowns were perfection! My service was great - the one server holding things down was so kind and efficient. I love diners where you can see the chef griddling right in front of you. A man in need came in towards the end of my visit, and the waitress provided him with a cup of coffee to warm up - I chose to pay for his coffee, but it's these little acts of kindness from restaurant teams that show why restaurants are the heart of our community. Thank you!
