This is a nice and quaint little cafe located in Deephaven on the north side of Minnetonka Blvd. there are about 8 tables for indoor seating and a few tables outside to enjoy your meal. First off, anybody who can make a good Cafe Miel automatically gets 3 stars. We opted to split breakfasts we both wanted the same entree. We ended up with the corned beef hash and the eggs benedict (they have a number of variants to choose from). Both were quite solid. I particularly appreciate that they had a good crust from frying the hash. The benedicts were cooked well, and they didn't drown the eggs et al in hollandaise. Their menu is small but has a number of great options worth trying. I am not a huge sweet breakfast fan, but I really need to come back for the Captain Crunch french toast. Certainly worth the trip out yonder to eat here. read more

Don't let the hostess/waitress throw you off. I was glad I knew what to expect from other reviews. Mia greeted us with a scowl and tossed a couple menus on a far corner table for us...but after that, she was perfectly personable and no further complaints about her. Not sure why she doesn't greet customers with a smile, but it didn't affect the service. The food is good, though the "giant sized English muffins" are anything but. They are just normal sized English muffins and not sure why they are billed as "giant sized". The potatoes are spicy with pepper but very tasty and oily. We did enjoy our meals and the prices very reasonable. Now that we know Mia is all bark and no bite, we'll definitely be back! read more

Beanhaven's Southwest Eggs Benedict was my husband's only request for Father's Day, and for good reason! His belly was happy. Another little gem in my neighborhood! Located in the business district of Deephaven. I have been here several time for breakfast and have never been disappointed. The portions are generous and the ingredients are unique and fresh. The atmosphere is casual and comfortable, however its pretty cozy. There are a few bistro tables located outside for summer dining. Only open for breakfast and lunch. I believe they close at 2:00pm daily. read more

I'm all for supporting local, but I've hit my limit on the bad or even non-existent greeting and attitude from everyone who works at Beanhaven including ownership. The food is average at best, and consistently inconsistent. I feel bad but after years of being locally faithful in hopes of being wowed with some really good coffee and breakfast food, today is the last time I'm going to be let down. read more

I've been going here for a few years now. The place is consistent from food to service. The breakfast is very down home without too much flair. Think your grandmother making you breakfast as a kid. However it is good and I rarely have a bad meal. The omelets are always good as is the French toast. The coffee is fantastic and they do a great job coming by often to fill you up. The staff is sometimes very unfriendly. They do not always acknowledge you, especially if you are not a local. I need a good egg's benedict now and then, so one day I stopped off at a local cafe and ordered the traditional egg's benedict. I was very impressed. The sauce has a unique flavor, I'm not sure what it is, but it almost tastes slightly vinegary. I have to stop back every month or so to have this. The diced and spiced potatoes that come with the egg's benedict are very flavorful. This is the only meal I have ordered there and I love it. It runs around $10.00 but worth it. read more

This is probably one of the worst breakfast experiences I have had in a while. Waited over 25 minutes for a table. Ordered coffee and ordered right away. Finished coffee long before I got food. Didn't get more coffee for about 30 more minutes. Food came. Knife was not substantial enough quality to even saw through the eggs benedict English muffin. Hollandaise tasted weird like tangy/sour and too rich. Ham didn't seem done. Some rude lady hovered over every table asking every person how long they had been there and if they were leaving soon. No apologies for delay or even any words for that matter when finally getting more coffee when it was clearly empty. Sure every table was full but there are only 10 and there were 2 staff doing service. Waited even longer after my food and coffee were once again totally gone then I just wanted the check. Finally got that and had to wait at the register for another good 10 minutes to pay. It's really crowded and you're basically touching elbows with the people around you. I don't complain and I'm never picky but this was a pretty awful experience. Was there for a solid 2 hours. read more

Been a fan of Beanhaven cafe for a while but less and less of lately. It's a shame because while the food hasn't changed (and is good), the last few visits have me scratching my head on the surly & unfriendly staff. That's being polite. Today I walked in with my daughter to grab lunch. There was only one table open, when we were seated I asked if it could be moved. The answer I got verbatim (read in your best smart alec voice): "Where? We have to keep the aisle open." And the waiter turned and walked away. Had he stayed for more than 1 second, my answer would have been: To a place where the ladies chair who occupied the next table wasn't resting up against it. Or maybe we could move it 1 fot so her hair and jacket weren't dangling over our table. Or maybe someplace where when I talked it wouldn't have been 24 inches directly into her left ear! And no, I'm not exaggerating. It was busy and had this been an isolated instance, I would have chalked it up to someone having a bad day. As we all have from time to time. But the snooty attitude seems to pervade the place lately and while the food is good and it's nice to eat at a local non-chain place, at some point it isn't worth the hassle.
