I had been wanting to make a change in my lifestyle, get healthier, and I also was new to the city and wanted to make friends. I can say wholeheartedly that CFE has checked every single one of those boxes for me. All of the coaches are super knowledgeable and very approachable. Whether its been injury/surgery, lacking a skill, or even a mental fear of a movement - all workouts are scaleable for every person's ability and no one is ever judged negatively for it. I am also personally familiar with receiving the loudest cheers for finishing last. I thought I needed to get in shape before starting crossfit - I didn't want to be embarrassed. Never have I felt ashamed or insecure around these people who within weeks of joining have become lifelong friends of mine. I am so proud to call these people my family.

I ran a half marathon ... twice... but I was still pudgy. I went through some life changes and saw a sign for Crossfit Equality one afternoon and checked out the website. I emailed the owner and instantly felt welcome. She invited me to an intro session and I got excited. When I went to that intro session I met three other young women and I know that two of us signed up. In fact, that other woman that I signed up with, started the same day as me. We have become the best of friends. And since, we have met other lifelong friends with the same goals and same values. Are there some that get along better than others... sure... but that's the way life is. I have seen such a transformation in my body! I am leaner, I am stronger and I am doing things I NEVER thought I could do. I can climb a rope for goodness sake!!! And all with the encouragement of the other members. I won't lie... it's intimidating at first. But not because of *this* box... but because you are walking into something unknown. But as soon as you meet the coaches and you see what it's all about... you're home. If you are looking to try crossfit and aren't afraid to "drink the Koolaid"... please try this box. The price is pretty steep but comparable for Houston prices i guess. The only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is the class schedule. They have a 5am and nothing else really until 4:45pm. That didn't work with my schedule. As they add more classes I'll definitely revisit joining.

First off I was sold this amazing story about the place and because it's a big place and is open all day and they offer self defense along with another class I was foolish enough to sign the contract without even trying it first. When I went to my first CrossFit class here the coach could care less that I was new. I was so disappointed in how they run this place that I even messed up on my lift. The coaching well there are only two decent coaches and the other just stands in the corner and watches. If you want to get better at CrossFit this is definitely not the place. After the class is over the coaches lock them selves into their offices and you can't communicate with them. The place is falling apart they don't invest any money into it. The weights have been broken and have not been replaced. I stayed their because I didn't have a choice I signed a contract and they wouldn't let me out even though I had only been there a day. They said after 6 months they would let me go if I wanted to but I actually stayed longer because I didn't know where to go. Then I had enough of the bad coaching that I left. I came from a box that was voted 5x the best in the town and the coaching was amazing and it was a community this place is not that. There are better places in Houston you can go to. If you want a good workout they do have good workouts but you will never grow and become the best you can be at this place. It's sad because there is so much potential but they don't invest in trying to make it better.
