I've been here twice, both times for gifts, and both times I had a great experience. The customer service is great. Since I don't know much about plants, both times I received help to find ones that could thrive in low light settings and pet safe. They even potted the plant for me, and put it in a cute little paper bag. I couldn't wait to see the lush greenery at this little plant shop. It's a small shop but it sure packs a punch! I've had succulents in my home various times over the last few years. Not one survived very long. Overwatering is the culprit. After having done some homework on what next succulent I might bring home and not to kill, I was eager to purchase a "Laurentii Sanseviera." Commonly known as A snake plant with green Color center and yellow margins. The snake plant in general is also known as mother-in-law's tongue. I can relate to that having been married once years ago. My ex mother-in-law Never cleared the air of toxins though, like this plant does. Very unfortunate. What's unique about the snake plant, is that converts carbon oxide to oxygen during the night. This plant is perfect for the bedroom so we can regulate the airflow and promote restful sleep. It also does not need direct sunlight. So to end a rather difficult year 2020 and a difficult week in my life, I have placed this little succulent on my nightstand beauty and function. I'm really glad I've had a chance to stop at this lovely store and chat with the knowledgeable clerk A few weeks ago. So far, my little snake plant seems to be doing fine! read more

Absolutely loved this little plant shop! I stopped on a weekday afternoon and the place was empty aside from the workers. I did see a sign they are currently limiting the store to 6 people for social distancing protocol. This place is packed with so many wonderful planters and plants yet still feels spacious and has plenty of room to walk around. This is my one-stop shop for house plants. Mostly because it's the closest one to my house. I always come here when I'm feeling like treating myself to a pretty house plant. This is one of the first places I recommend for house plant shopping! They always have a good variety of plants, succulents, and locally made pots to ease any beginner into the hobby, or entice the expert with something unique and gorgeous. All of the house plants I've bought here are always brought home super healthy, and they've absolutely thrived for me (save for one alocasia, which I am convinced do NOT like me as I've unalived quite a few of them). They usually have a really good rotating stock of common and uncommon house plants here. Their air plants are second to none and they have plenty of succulents - naturally! Recently their philodendron varieties have been unmatched, and you'll be sure to find a good pothos here. They also usually have nice ficus varieties. You'll also find plenty of plant accessories here - pots, soil, and everything in between to take care of your plant! They have a nice selection of locally made ceramics. I also really like that they have an online shopping option - it's not as extensive of a selection as you might find going to the shop in person, but I like getting an idea of what they have available before I go there. They have frequent potting classes and events here - I haven't been to any yet but I think it's great that they host these experiences if you're looking to have a little fun with house plants! I was going to do a zoom event planting succulents from another state and rather than order a kit from far away I decided to continue to buy local. So I took my list of supplies that I needed to Life is Succulent along with a terrarium that had been empty for a few years. There's something just restorative about walking into a room overflowing with that many plants. You just have an overwhelming need to have all of them, which knowing my semi green thumb is not possible!!! So I took my list and asked for help! I got all kinds of help with my variety of projects. The selection of plants , easy to care for and trickier. Some needing lots of direct light and some less and more defused, was overwhelming!! By the time everything was done I had everything from pebbles to Spanish Moss and Baby Tears. There were terra cotta pots as well as a variety of artisan crafted pots. And a variety of soils for different plants so I even got a bag of dirt for succulents. Finally they have a rewards program. And they even carried all my stuff out to my car, while wearing masks. It's become a very popular store since I went there when they first opened, after watching the building being remodeled and wondering what it was going to be. It's a small shop but it's packed with lots of healthy, decently priced plants. It's absolutely adorable in there and the staff was so friendly and helpful, and even included a care card for a plant I asked for care help on. I came the day they opened and though they were still getting settled the owner was super sweet and answered all of my questions. They had a great selection of succulents in various sizes and prices. Plant lover's paradise! I've been following Life is Succulent on social media since they opened earlier this year, and I was so excited to finally make the time to stop in today. My expectations were surpassed by how well the owner has curated the atmosphere of the place. I would encourage any plant lover (whether experienced or a beginner) as well as anyone looking for gifts to stop in. The shop is filled with many different types of succulents as well as numerous varieties of other house plants. The owner is extremely knowledgeable and can provide great recommendations on plants depending on the space that you're looking to fill. I was happy to pick up a little prayer plant from her, as well as an adorable little pitcher planter (if you go back into the second room, you'll see she has a little station set up to drill drainage holes into all manner of different planters/containers, so you can be sure to find something unique!). Additionally, there are tons of different gift type options to peruse throughout the store, both plant and Buffalo themed. Tote bags and tea towels, jewelry, soaps and bath bombs, greeting cards, t-shirts, stickers and buttons, the list goes on. It seems that she sources these types of items from local businesses and etsy artisans, so all of these items are great quality and special. Between the well filled out collection of plants and all of these extras, you can really take your time to look throughout all the nooks and crannies in the store that she's filled with different items. The owner has great taste and style! Lastly, the customer service was great. I really appreciated the owner's recommendations. I have an (what I think is healthy) obsession with plants. There is rarely a time when I can leave a plant shop without bringing something home. I've visited a lot of the local places, but for whatever reason, I hadn't gotten around to this one despite it being extremely close to my home! I needed to grab a birthday gift for my sister (also a plant mom!) and this shop was participating in the Shop 716 gift card promotion that Erie Co was sponsoring. I bought some giftcards and decided that this is where I wanted to spend them. Plenty of parking in the back of the shop and wonderfully helpful folks inside who aren't pushy, but super helpful in answering your questions and making sure you are finding what you need. Wide variety of plants available, from the exotic to the common. Each exceptionally beautiful and guaranteed to make you smile when added to your home or office (wherever that may be of late). Life is Succulent is a hidden gem off of Main on Eggert that is every houseplant lover's dream. The shop is two rooms packed to the ceiling of plants, pots, and macrame hangings. They have a wonderful selection of plants for very good prices. They have plants great for beginners, like snake plants, but also carry a wide range of more sensitive plants. How they have the store staged is very appealing and it is easy to navigate all the different plant species. Beyond the plants, their ceramic and pot selection is EXCELLENT. They have a mix of local and national artists who have created beautiful pots. They have solid colors as well as exciting patterns (I fell in love with a rose gold speckled pot). They also have a fun assortment of plant-themed knickknacks, like stickers and cards. This shop is adorable. Right in Amherst at the corner of main and eggert. So many beautiful succulents and herbs to choose from. I chose a few succulents and a customer pot and the owner was kind enough to re-pot them for me before I left. As soon as the weather breaks I'll be back for the hanging herb planters, they are exactly what I have been looking for and I've found them nowhere else.
