Truly astounding, I've complained in past about bathrooms being dirty; tampons stuck on walls for days. -News story comes on local news a few days ago about a DEAD woman being left in the bathroom stall at the lifetime facility for 2 DAYS without being discovered. -I call with concerns about it and had questions about my membership costs being the highest in the area so they follow up by sending me an email this morning letting me know my rate is going up again to $154 a month!? Over priced club and they do not keep it clean! If they in fact are checking the bathrooms frequently, they would know if there is a deceased person in the stall. This review is based on my experiences using the LifeSpa here at Lifetime Fitness. I do not have a gym membership here- currently a member at another gym. I have been going here for a year, every two weeks, for a no-chip manicure. I've never had any reasons to complain about the services here. My manicure is always perfect, and lasts two weeks, as promised. My nail tech, Kelsey, is amazing. Super nice, friendly, and fun- and always does a fantastic job. She also does a fantastic pedicure! The reception staff is always great. I usually deal with Jamie, who is so nice and welcoming. Jamie and Kelsey are always so accommodating when my schedule is crazy, or when I call for a last minute, emergency manicure. The facilities are always neat, clean, and well taken care of. I highly recommend Kelsey for any nail services that you need! read more

I actually went to the spa/salon in Burr Ridge (Or should I say BrrrRidge-Its freakn cold today) and had my hair cut. I cannot believe all the negative comments and I'm truly wondering if ya the same club we go to!!! However, this is not the same club it was when I was a member 7 years ago but today I can say: Lifetime is amazing. I lost 16 pounds since joining and have made a big lifestyle transformation thanks to the encouragement and motivation from the staff and fellow members. I have used almost every service and class at the club and have enjoyed every single one. The TEAM class is awesome. The camaraderie of ur fellow TEAM members and the motivation and attention from the trainers are second to none. All the trainers are exceptional...I dare u to walk through the club without them smiling at u or giving u a high five. It can't be done. The kids center is REMARKABLE. iPads, climbing structures, classes....AND they not just take my special needs kid but treat her like a princess. The kids swim program is great too!! The instructors are all so great with the kids and very accessible. If you see something unclean etc, if u report it the issue is quickly remedied. I really can't say enough about lifetime other than: it's my happy place and it could be urs too. read more

Staff not friendly and rude a lot of times (probably because of the way they are trained and strange corporate policies), facility is overcrowded (specifically basketball and raquetball), can't bring a child (such as a sibling) unless I am their parent (written permission not accepted), can't bring a guest after 9 PM (no exceptions... I tried to bring a guest at like 9:02), If I forget my photo ID/lifetime card, I am denied entrance even though my picture is on the computers, employees can't ever make exceptions to any of the rediculous rules, etc., etc., etc. The facilities are nicely kept, but all these strange rules make me hate the place. It seems like every time I go, they want to deny my entrance for a reason I am unprepared for. I discover something new about corporate policy every time I go. It sucks getting treated like crap for something that you pay your hard-earned money for. Oh, and if I want cancel my membership, I have to pay an additional month since I have to give 30 days notice to cancel. What is the reason for this? To make more money? Good luck getting customers to come back. From now on, I will dis-recommend Lifetime Fitness to everyone. read more

It was a while since I've been here and I recently had the opportunity to do so. My regular LTF gym in Warrenville is undergoing extensive remodeling, so i was allowed to go this higher spec 'Platinum' gym (Warrenville is 'Gold' ). This still baffles me because the amenities at the Burr Ridge LTF are identical to Warrenville, so why people here have to pay an extra $5/month is beyond me. Anyways, The gym here has been COMPLETELY remodeled. Don't know when, but now it looks modern. Gone are the 4:3 old square aspect televisions. Now we get pretty widescreen lcds all round. They knocked out some walls to make it feel more airy and open. Locker rooms have received a make-over with brand new wood paneling for all the lockers. It looks fantastic, and it appears this look is spreading to all the gyms. I went to the Romeoville a week ago location and the interior decorations match. I presume my Warrenville gym will look the same when it opens. Crowding didn't seem to be a problem, surprisingly. All my previous experiences with this gym included severe over crowding ... maybe that issue has been addressed or maybe i just got lucky. Either way, I've upped my rating for this gym. if you can front the application fee and $65/month, there's no reason not to go here. read more

Frankly, this place has a ton of potential, but misses the boat on little things. 1. The place is dirty. If they just kept the place clean it would mean so much more to those of us that are considering being members. And by clean, I mean that everything should be immaculate. All. The. Time. 2. The place is very 90's. A bit of an investment means a lot. Hardwood floors, new equipment, and updated amenities are lacking here. The structure is laid out right, but it's obvious that the place is not striving to be upscale. 3. The little things are missing. The towels are small. The staff seems a bit disconnected. The restaurant's menu is lacking. Note to management: With a little more effort you could command three times what you are asking now per member. People want their gym to be like a country club. We want a nice restaurant, a place to pick up dry cleaning, and to feel like we are somewhere that we would like to spend the entire day enjoying. With as much money as you have poured into the overall location and building, you could spend another 20 to 30 percent and be the elite healthclub in the burbs if you played your cards right. And honestly, it really would be nice as there are no health clubs in the area that give people what they want from their gym. The feeling of being wanted and appreciated. read more

I've been a member of LifeTime Fitness for 3 years. I started at Romeoville (no complaints either) and recently switched to Burr Ridge. The process was simple & the price was much more reasonable than I was expecting. I pay a little more for my daughter now but it's so worth it; she has access to an array of group classes along with her time in the kid center!! I highly recommend this gym. read more

I converted to this location from romeoville. They are both equally crowded, Romeoville is newer and remodeled. The choice was easy when they offer free kids classes every day of the week. I pay a higher monthly fee, my drive is further, but my kids don't get hit by other kids while they are in the day care center. The burr ridge group fitness manager is great. Any request, complaints you have are addressed immediately. The aquatic manager, Brian is also wonderful. My kids have been taking swim lessons since they were 2-3 yrs from the other facilities. 5 years later they are finally being taught the proper way. My complaint is their towels; they are way too old, thin, and need replacement. read more

love it because is close to my new home , there is a blonde girl that always smiles and seems so nice when welcoming you . the place is clean and super big . This is a very nice club..i have never had any problems with the customers or employees personally. Lots of Russians and Europeans work out here.. who are very loud for some reason and they can act like a holes sometimes..I just cancelled my membership and you do have to go in and do it..not that big of a deal.. people seem to be too lazy to do that? I just couldn't afford it anymore..the only reason I'm giving this club 4 stars is because of the cleanliness of the lockers rooms. It's imposssible to keep it clean 24/7 but some of the stuff is nasty!!! Members are gross I don't know how some people feel entitled to act the way they do!!!! Allow me to tear this place to shreds. In short, worst experience I've had with a business ever. I signed up for $120 ($82/month + start up costs) hoping to get the best health club experience. It seemed like a lot at first, but then they said they'll throw in a free duffel bag. Hallelujah all my problems are solved! I have a gym bag! The $82/month fee is variable, so only the Lifetime oracle knows what price I'll pay next month. There isn't a single other health club in the western suburbs that has variable fees. Regardless, this place looks great on the outside and has many members so I thought it must be good. I stayed at the club for 2 weeks during which I got about 5 calls a day trying to be sold on metabolism tests, blood tests, massages, and pilates classes. The trainers are incompetent. I'd guess that the trainers took a 2 day training then they got a white binder which they all carry. This white binder beholds the secret truths to eternal health and longevity. I'm 22 years old, pretty healthy, and active, yet their tests said I had the body of a 45 year old diabetic. Not to worry, my trainer told me I just needed to have weekly $70 sessions with her and I'd be back in shape. I also needed to buy their nutritional supplements, because all other brands just don't get it like Lifetime does. Lifetime has REAL protein powder. This gym offers nothing special, nothing unique, and is not worth $82/month. There were no tennis courts, the pool is small and crowded, and there are two basketball courts with destroyed balls. Unlike all of the employees at Lifetime, I am an adept adult and I read the contract I signed which included a 14 day money back guarantee that I acted on. I thought my problems with Lifetime were over with, but they had just begun. When I cancelled my membership I was told I'd receive my refund in "a couple of days" directly in my account. Two weeks later, I called back and was told the transaction is pending and I should get my refund "any day now". Five days later I called to ask if "any days" had passed or maybe time had stopped and I was the only one still moving through time. But that wouldn't make much sense because I was still getting calls daily from Lifetime trainers. Anyways, they said that because I signed up with a debit card, I would receive a check in the mail which had already been mailed. I waited patiently for my refund. A couple days later, I called and discovered the man who signed me up entered the wrong address number to an address that didn't exist. Perhaps all the drool on his keyboard made his finger slip to the wrong number. It has now been a month and I still have not received my refund. I have the pleasure of calling them every couple days to remind them how poorly their business is operated and discover that they've found a new innovative way to not refund my money. I shutter to think of what an imbecile the manager of this health club is like. Their revenue is $82/month from more than a thousand members, on top of that most of them are upsold on their crappy training programs. Despite this there's 1 man cleaning the gym and 100 trainers trying to sell you on their crappy service. With that kind of money I should be running on platinum treadmills and be trained by Julius Peppers. Too bad there isn't a white binder that explains how to run a business successfully. Update: The mailman was smarter than everyone at Lifetime and I got the check (1.5 months later) even though it was shipped to the wrong address number and apartment number. I also found out Lifetime is a public company. I looked at their financials and found out the Burr Ridge location enrolls anywhere from 8,500 to 11,500 members with an average revenue per membership is $1,543. So let's assume Lifetime Burr Ridge has 10,000 members x $1,543/membership = $15,430,000 in annual revenue at Burr Ridge. Are you kidding me??? When you're running a service business you want to make sure you want a competent staff that has been trained. Instead Lifetime's employees can't type in an address properly. Unbelievable. read more

I learned to go during odd hours because it gets a bit crowded at times. The outdoor pool is a great place over the summer. The cafe in Lifetime is incredibly overpriced. I wish the lifetime showers has better soap and shampoo, lotion, and aftershave on the sinks counters like many other gyms. read more

I've been an active member for 7 years strong. It still amazes me how hard it is to get a fresh salad here ( besides that the fact it will run ya at least $7+.) Just purchased a turkey avocado salad. The lettuce, spinach, and avocado all brown & slimy once I opened the container. I really want Lifetime to step up their game. I think the structure and décor is beautiful. I love the idea of a multitude of fitness classes offered in a variety of time slots. Best of all is the 'show and go' attendance aspect of these classes. I 'feel the fitness culture' environment which motivates me to go everyday during the summer. I wanted to get hooked in before school began, so that I would continue to go. I was a little disappointed with my first contact with a personal trainer, John. He realized that my main interest was in fitness classes, so he handed me off to another trainer for my Health Assessment appointment. However, I was fortunate to get Jerry Jasper who is absolutely fantastic, especially with his Hydro Tone class. I was quite impressed with Chris who performs an energizing demonstration during the Aqua class, but so disappointed with Eric who doesn't demonstrate at all in Aqua class. I would like to see the women's locker room floor cleaned continuously throughout the day. Flip flops solve the problem for me. In the past, I've been a racquet and fitness club member in Oak Brook. This is my first experience with a fitness club, and I love it! read more

Joined AGAIN last month, for the 4th time, to the tune of $80/month for a single. My god, I just cannot believe this place gets $80/month for a single. The men's locker rooms and showers are absolutely disgusting, DO THEY EVER CLEAN THIS PLACE? Supposedly they "limit" the number of members, but honestly they will take as many as they possibly can and don't care if the place is jammed and people are waiting. $7.50 for a protein shake ? WTF ? Yes, Im serious: $7.50 for a protein shake. Did I mention this place is filthy , DIRTY ? Need to close down and rebuild the locker rooms. Lifetime fitness would be a great gym if it wasn't for the terrible management. The managers are a bunch of late 20s early 30 year olds that could not make it anywhere else with their business degrees. They are very unprofessional, uneducated, and they just stare at girls that are under 16 years old. My family and I quit this gym because a manager named Chad was staring at my 15 year old daughter while she was working out. It creeped me out so much that we got up and left. What a terrible place to send your kids. Be on the lookout for Chad and others if you go here. read more

Man they can sell! We've been members for a couple years and we had to get medical freezes on the accounts. The first guy we dealt with was super nice and understanding. The second guy assured us everything was covered only to get charged...after some phone calls with corporate, they fixed the situation....but giving it some thought and the husband I have decided to join another club on after smaller scale, more local if you will. It was great while it lasted but def . look after the your options. I suppose this is a great club for families as they offer daycare and their pools are pretty big. read more

Absolutely love the gym but just recently started going down to the pool with my family. The lifeguard there is beyond rude. Today I brought my nephew who is only 1 years old and I walked over and grabbed a floaty for him. When we were finished I put it back, she came over by me and asked if I gave my card in exchange of the floaty. I said no and she rudely asked me "you really didn't give us a card?" And walked away shaking her head. First of all, I was never informed that I needed to give my card and she didn't even have the decency to explain to me what I had to do Incase I wanted a floaty for next time. She just walked away shaking her head like I was a idiot. Super disrespectful! I don't pay 110 a month to be treated like dirt. read more

The gym itself is nice, the equipment is good and it is clean etc. The reason I am writing this review and leaving 2 stars is because when I decided to cancel my membership I was really given a hard time about it. First, I had to physically go in to the location in order to cancel. Then, it was 30 days from that point that the cancellation would occur. Ok, fine. Then I find out that I am charged another month dues because I missed some deadline by a few days. There was no way out of it, I talked to a manager and he gave me some run around. Bottom line is if you ever plan to cancel just know you will still be paying for at least 1 or 2 months even after you sign the cancellation papers. This really seems to be a rip off. You don't want to use the facility, membership dues should stop on the day you want to leave, not 30 or not 60 days. BEWARE of this when you join. read more

I have been a member for about a month and so far I really like the club. I haven't been to any other LF facilities so I can't compare the Burr Ridge location with the others. I have read some reviews about dirty equipment and rude staff. I haven't seen any of this. I think they keep the club very clean and so far the staff has been very nice. I say hello to them and take the time to learn their name, it goes along way. I think alot of people act like jerks and think they are entitled to act that way because they are paying a big monthly fee. Hey, it's your choice to pay that. Go to cardinal fitness for $20/month if you want. If you treat them respectfully it will be returned. I did not however really like the sign up process. I got a flyer in the mail about a free week and a $0 enrollment. Well, yes they waived the enrollment fee but then he told me there would be a $79 "administrative fee" to join. Whatever. I paid it and joined. They basically charged me the admin fee and gave me the rest of the month free. After that, I pay $79/month. They did give me $150 in LT bucks for joining which is nice. I used it to get a new raquetball raquet, joined the raquetball league, and signed up for some rock climbing instruction. So I feel the $79 admin fee was worth it. They also gave me a bunch of coupons to use at the spa. $10 haircut, $20 massage, etc. I used them all already. Good services. So all in all for a $79 admin fee I feel I got alot of perks. $79/month is a little steep but I don't mind paying it. For me it's worth it. I never have waited for a machine ever. The locker rooms are clean. I plan on using the other locations which is nice. Burr Ridge is a platinum club so you can basically use any other club in the country except the few Onyx clubs. There are only a few anyway. It would be nice if they offered a cheaper membership for just the Burr ridge club since I will be using that location 95% of the time. Oh well, that's their policy. I would have given the club 5 stars except the shady sign up deal. Lame to say it's $0 to join and then say oh wait you have to pay an "admin fee" instead. Again, whatever. So basically $79 to join and they give you a bunch of stuff that definately pays for that fee and then some. $79/month seems to be about right for this type of gym. I checked 5 seasons in Burr Ridge too but they wouldn't give any details about pricing until I used my free week pass. Obviously they want to get you in there and like the club and pay whatever they want. I didn't like that process so I went to Lifetime. Also, 5 seasons seems to be an older club with some snobby people. They advertise it as a country club without golf. It is. Lots of amenities but if you just want to work out and do a little socializing then Lifetime is a great deal. read more

The facilities here, and at all LTFs that I've visited, are top notch. they generally keep the place clean and the equipment working and updated. So, why the 1-star rating? It is due to their poliicies. I moved and just called to cancel and was told that 1) I can't do it over the phone, 2) I can't do it online, 3) they can't email me a form, 4) I have to send them a certified letter (really?), 5) since it is May 2nd, they wiil charge me for an extra billing cycle, meaning I have to pay through end of June, even though I have already moved. This is typical of every time I had to deal with the "office" side of this place. Everything is a hassle and everything has some "policy" that explains why they can't do what you want right away and why there is always extra billing. Not sure if this is due to the pressure of being a publicly traded company, but it is definitely not a member friendly experience. It's really a shame that such a nice club has to be done in by ridiculous policies and procedures. read more

If I could give less than 1 star I would. I've been a platinum member for 4 years and i recently changed my membership to the student flex while I go to college. I just recently re activated my membership to gold while I'm on summer break and I tried to go to the burr Ridge Lifetime for a day or two while I visited my parents at home and the guy at the front seat straight up said no and i had to leave. I have never felt so angry in my life this gym is crap for the amount of money you spend and they don't treat you with any respect. read more

I've been a member here for 5 years now. For the price it's hard to get everything it offers, especially when you live in the city as other places like FFC or David Barton's cost upwards of $100.00/month (I think David Barton's is actually $160.00?!?) whereas Lifetime is $70.00/month The facilities are pretty good, there's basketball courts, a climbing wall, racquetball courts, a spinning room (they removed the squash court to put in this cycling/spinning room, it seems out of place in my opinion, but I suppose the demand for squash just wasn't there), an indoor and outdoor pool and a few other rooms used for classes. I'd say generally things are kept clean, the men's locker room can get nasty, but then again it's a men's locker room and I imagine it's hard to constantly clean when it's always occupied. Towels are offered but I haven't seen any grooming products in the bathroom so you'll have to bring your own. The workout area has at times been less than pristine, but there are anti-bacterial wipes all around for wiping off machines and benches, definitely use them!! Machines on occasion have been in a poor state as well, but usually after a few months and, I imagine, a few complaints, they're replaced. Somethings I definitely do not like about this gym, such as the crowds, this place gets really packed around 6pm - 8pm, the music, the same awful tracks are played over and over and over again (I'd sport my iPod/Phone white headphones like everyone else but I value my hearing too much), and last but not least the SOBs who think it's cool to spit their gum into the cup holders on treadmills, really, wtf?? Okay so maybe my last complaint is a problem of gyms in general, still it's annoying. It would be really nice if Lifetime opened a location in the city, but I'm not holding my breath on that one. I'm sure the cost of opening a facility there and finding the adequate space would cost a fortune, then again there's always the old post office building, has that behemoth been sold yet? read more

I work out here at least twice a week during lunch break. You would think a gym that tries to be upscale wouldn't resemble Walmart check out line at the front door. The lines to get scanned in is Walmart written all over it. How can they not get the main point of entry where your gym experience starts more efficient. Shame on you lifetime. read more

I give it a high rating because of the facility and the locker room. However they do have some crappy corporate policies. I started at this club when I was 14 on a family plan and then you get booted off when you're 21 so you start your own plan. They had more racquetball courts but then decided to turn some of those into cycling. I'm certain days they shut down the basketball court to have a huge dancing/aerobic class. read more

The facility is HUGE.. and offers a large cardio area, tons of weight machines, basketball courts, squash courts, a juice bar, spa, massage rooms, indoor and outdoor pools, hot tubs, saunas, and 2 large faitness class rooms (both usually usually running a class simultaneously). I like the the very polished feel.. its doesnt feel like just a sweaty gym. it really doesnt compete with your average bally's etc gyms... its really competes on the same level as full fitness/country club facilites. I really like the fact that theres tons of weight machines all organized in rows by body parts. lots of cardio machines.. and I have always found their fitness classes of high caliber. I easily can spend up to 2 hours here, working out, relaxing, socializing. Probably not the best place if you want to workout in complete privacy because you will probably see half your neighbors here on any random day! read more
