I joined about a month ago and I'm loving it! Lifetime gives you variety. Instead of just lifting weights all the time, you can rock climb, play squash, basketball, relax in the 2 over-sized Jacuzzis, swim indoor or outdoor and more! It is also very family oriented which is great! I often do not shower at gyms, but since the locker room is clean and they provide clean towels, it makes it more appealing than rushing home to shower and get dressed for my next move. Try the food in the cafe. They list the nutrient content and offer some great suggestions as well. I don't easily give a 5 star rating but I did here. I never thought I'd pay this type of money for a gym membership but I feel that you get a lot for the money so I signed up! They have a lot of free classes like yoga etc. that you can participate in as well and indoor and outdoor pools and saunas. They have basketball courts which they use for volleyball sometimes as well. They have a huge variety of cardio equipment like stairmasters, ellipticals, and treadmills. They also have a lot of machine and weights for weight training. The only downside I can find is that during peak hours this place gets insanely packed. read more

What the hell is wrong with this place?! My boyfriend and I came here to workout last week, and he lives super close to this gym but always wants to work out at the Johns Creek location, and I see why! For a Lifetime fitness and the cost, they should be ashamed. We only came here for convenience purposes, because we both typically work out together at JC. First of all, the weights are all over the place. Half the weights are missing. I don't know if they are scattered or just gone altogether, but I didn't have time to be searching. There is a mirror that is cracked, and apparently per my bf has been like that for months, and they have masking tape over the cracks. How tacky is that!?! The locker rooms and bathrooms aren't very clean, the gym floor is a hot mess, and it's completely not organized with regard to their free weights. Some of the equipment wasn't operational when we were there, which I guess can happen, but I just wonder how long these machines have been not working properly. I'm so thankful my boyfriend wants us to workout in Johns Creek. Sad he lives 5 minutes from here, and doesn't even want to utilize the gym. read more

Lifetime is the best gym in the world. I repeat, Lifetime is the best gym in the world. 1. Lifetime is safe and secure. In order to get into the gym, you must have your card swiped. On file, there will be a picture of you that the rep at the desk will see. If your picture isn't you, they won't let you in. So everyone in the gym has a membership. Simple as that! 2. There is something inside for everyone. If you're a hooper, you can play ball. If you're a rock climber, you can rock climb. Racketball, swimming etc, it's all there. Upstairs is equipment to workout literally every muscle in your body. If you need it, it's there. 3. Its friendly. Not just friendly, but kid friendly. The staff is great and the people are just awesome. If you need someone to watch your kids while you go to the gym, they have child care services as well! 4. If you don't know how to workout and don't know what to do at the gym, there are free classes for you. Literally from 5am-8pm almost every day, you can find all sorts of classes to attend with an instructor that will show you what to do! 5. The pool is to die for. They have lap pools, hot tubs, water slides, kiddie pools and more! It's like being on vacation two miles from your house. 6. The food is great. I really enjoy this gym! Even when the parking lot is packed, you'll never have to wait on cardio equipment. They always have organized cardio classes also. The indoor pool allows for year round swimming, and in the summer the outdoor pool area is large with water slides and a snack bar! My kids love coming with me, because their children's center is always full of kids to play with in the kiddie basketball court and play maze area. When it comes to gyms in the world, I have to say Life Time Fitness has really done their homework and delivers with a solid A+. The equipment is all generally top of the line and in excellent working condition, their other gym facilities are also generally top notch and more than you can ask for from a health club. From cutting edge equipment, multiple machines, a full room dedicated to cardio, fitness classes, private showers, a health cafe, indoor and outdoor swimming pool, dry and steam sauna, fresh towels, private lockers, to friendly and helpful staff, comfortable lounge with leather sofas with a big screen tv, advanced child care center, well run and organized child activities and summer camp, children swimming lessons, rock climbing wall, rock climbing lessons, basketball courts, squash courts, and spa & beauty center (and more) LifeTime Fitness really delivers and you get a mother ef*in astounding health club that even your mother would approve of (hopefully). That being said, I will mention that this club is not your cheap run of the mill gym that advertises $10 a month like some of the other clubs around town. This is a solid, bonafide, "you get what you pay for" type of gym that aims to deliver the highest quality life improving health center around and they do that well. However, I will mention that it is not a perfect gym and has some negative points that I will be happy to mention here. For starters, this gym is popular. Very popular at certain times and can therefore get crowded during those peak hours. Parking can become uncomfortably difficult to find during the peak hours, so keep that in mind. TIP: Even on the busiest of hours, there will be parking available, just possibly on the outskirts of the parking lot which is humongous anyways. Also, I have noticed on some mornings when I come into the gym, there can be some free weights that are not re-racked and you can tell that the staff was unable to fully clean the gym perfectly the night prior. Being that it is a 24 hour gym, this is completely understandable however, and I can not dock any stars nor criticize too harshly for that. Furthermore, I have discovered some people will leave their used towels on the ground which imho screams, "come on friends, your momma isn't going to pick up after you here so please exercise some common courtesy." But, i digress... A few additional points, their outdoor pool is amazing. Only open during the warmer months, equipped with a large slide that is restricted to those that can swim comfortably. Parents Take Note: Toddlers may have to pass a small swim test to qualify using the slide. They have two spas jacuzzi hot tubs inside furnished with a small waterfall that is generally open 24 hours, and a nice outdoor hot tub which is open for limited hours. Ask for Autumn Price (bomb.com) or Lindsey Hislop if you're interested to check out the club or have questions regarding membership, but I'm pretty sure all the membership coordinators at Lifetime are solid, Rachel Duque if you have children who are interested in summer camp and other children related activities, and all their front desk associates are solid. Lastly, note they have locations all throughout the United States. It was a relatively simple process for me to get a guest pass to be able to use their facilities while traveling to other states. Old and crappy machine. Person who picked this machine has to be a senior mgmt who has a big belly and never work out. 3. Old and smelly towel. I heard so many good things about Life Time Fitness so, finally I decided to give it a try. At first glance I was impressed, the facility appeared to be clean well maintained, and most importantly, didn't smell bad. I met with a sales person named Derrick, he was friendly, and appeared to be very helpful, Shorty after signing up, I learned that some of the perks Derrick sold me on were not with-in the policy. Derrick asked me to list names of people who might want to try out the facility, he told me they each would have 14 days to try out the facility. Not True!!! Don't fall for it, your guest will be asked to pay for the day, or get a membership.. I first voiced my concerns with the sales manager, Thomas, he appeared unconcerned, and referred me back to the Sales person with whom the problem started. It's been 4 months now, and the quality has declined greatly,some of the staff members are rude and appear to be annoyed by members, One of the ladies in the Cafe made me a Pineapple & spinach smoothie mmmm... I couldn't wait to taste it, until I saw her drop the lid on the floor, then picked it up, and placed it on my smoothie. Oh no !!! can I get a clean lid??? I had two complimentary training sessions, both were boring, low energy can kill a workout.The sales people are shady,some of the members are nasty, and rude,kids that should be monitored were running around, after the sales person was openly rude to me in front of the sales manager, I realized that management sets the tone for the poor service. I just can't find any reason to keep this membership...... Beware when they tell you you can cancel at anytime, they don't tell you it's a fee to cancel, also, both the misleading Sales person" Derrick", and the General manager told me," If I were to cancel I would have 30 more days to use the facility, however; they neglected to say it's because they charge you an additional month plus a cancellation fee after you cancel. Not my favorite Liftetime location. It does what it says on the tin. It's clean, no wait for machines. It has all the usuals - lifecafe, spa thingy, jacuzzi, sauna, indoor and outdoor pool, rock climbing, basketball courts and childcare. What I love: The shower water is SOOO hot. OMG. I LOVE that. I think this is a personal problem though and not many people will be enamoured with this aspect. I have to have my shower and bath water EXTRA hot or I just don't feel good and here the water is perfect. At the Alpharetta location it doesn't get nearly so hot (the Johns Creek location is good hot water but this the best). What I don't like: Eerrmm the sign in the showers "no spitting in the showers" WTF? What kind of people frequent this location? I always have flip flops and now I'm super glad the water is extra hot. Today I went in the shower and one of the workers was hosing down the showers - no complaints. However, I said "excuse me please?" She grudgingly moved and then managed to slap me on the leg with the hose. I'd like to think that was an accident since I didn't get an apology or an acknowledgement...hey, I'm hoping! I've always wondered about Life Time Fitness while I'm out chilling and/or shopping at Discover oooops Sugarloaf Mills. I've actually heard great things about Life Time Fitness from several friends. Everything from 24 Hour Access to great, clean gym with updated equipments. So I finally decided to get a one day pass to go visit. I knew there would be deals since a lot of people's new years resolution is to be fit and/or lose weight. The only day I was able to go check it out is New Years Eve. I already am a LA Fitness member. Don't get me wrong, I do like LA Fitness for many locations and more opening too. My problem is that I'm getting bored with the classes. After two years of being a member, Most Zumba and Kickboxing classes are for newbies. I wanted more challenging classes. Not only that, the instructors that I have learn to love are no longer teaching at LA Fitness and either moved on to other gyms or open their own gyms but is far away from me. Life Time Fitness is huge, just by looking from the outside. I got a tour of the gym from Bo. He is outgoing and friendly. I was surprised to see an Aveda salon next to the main greeter area. Bo showed me the basketball gym. He even mention there is open volleyball on two nights. I used to play volleyball back in the days too. There is a rock climbing wall next to the basketball gym too. I've never done it before but that is interesting. Walking upstairs is where all the machines are. There were tons and tons of cardio equipment. I was quite impressed. Many of them are updated too. My only problem is not every machine has a tv. There are two studios for workout. Studio 1 seems to be focus on strenght training and has many amentities such as bosu ball, yoga balls, dumbells ranging in color for weight, yoga mats, to resistence bands ranging in color for flexibility, and more. Studio 2 is more focus on cardio like for Zumba or Hip Hop. I tried the TCX group in Studio 1. I have no idea what it stands for but it was the hardest and most intense workout I've had in a long time. It's been a day since I've taken the class and I'm still sore! On Life Time Fitness website, the description for TCX is "combine full-body resistance training with continuous cardio training and you get TCX. This intense athletic workout uses a variety of equipment and cycle activity with built-in recovery for an efficient, easy-to-follow workout." Insanity class is even offered here! Bo showed me the Yoga area. I was impressed with several rooms for yoga classes too! Along with them having hot yoga. I'm not a fan of yoga at all. However, I've always been curious of hot yoga. Then we went upstairs (yes, it's another floor) and he showed me the cycling classes. There are two rooms for cycling too. Lifetime Fitness offers complimentary toiletary items as well as clean towels for their members. Every member gets a card key for the lockers as well. The pool area is nice and there are water slides. The monthly fee is triple the price of LA Fitness. that's no lie. There also is only 5 gyms in Atlanta and all are in the northern suburbs of Gwinnett. I wouldn't mind joining ONLY if I worked in Gwinnett. I already live here but I work in Cobb so I wouldn't make it for the classes and I mainly join for the classes. Hopefully in a few years, I will work closer to home and become a Lifetime Fitness member. read more

Joined about two years ago and there's no other gym for me. It's pricier than other gyms but definitely worth the cost for everything that you get. The facility is big and has plenty of equipment. I hardly ever have to wait for a weight machine and there's always plenty of treadmills, stairclimbers, and ellipticals. The classes are my favorite part (C9, barbell strength, and Dance Jam) and a big reason why I continue to come. The instructors are nice and there's an encouraging attitude. The locker rooms are clean and I like that they have a steam room as well as a sauna. The pool areas are awesome. There's indoor and outdoor slides, lap pools, and hot tubs. The childcare is fantastic. There's a playground and basketball court in the child center, so the kids get a lot of activity while you get to work out. They also have iPads and a large tv. I especially like the day camps and summer camps they offer. I never have to think about what to do with my kid when school's out. I've been going to Sugarloaf Life Time for little over a year now and I haven't had any issues with them. The Sugarloaf location is a gold club, but it has just about the same facilities as the Diamond club in Sandy Springs. The biggest advantage the Sandy Spring's location has over the Sugarloaf are locker rooms are nicer, and they have a little more gym floor space. The Sugarloaf location has lifting platforms (big plus for me) as well as a climbing wall. Where Sugarloaf's Life Time falls short is in price and weight room floor space. The price for a membership is high in comparison to most other gyms in the area ( this is a general problem with Life Time), but you get what you pay for with most other. The weight room floor space is a bit small here. Overall this place has pretty much everything you need for your workouts and gets 4 stars because of that. I've been a member of this gym for 4+ years. When we joined, this location was open 24 hours. This was a great as I often don't get home from work until 9:30/10 PM. In addition, my wife works odd hours and being able to go @ 11/12 at night was great. We mainly do light workouts and enjoy the hot tubs and lap pool. They now close @ midnight. OK, sucks, but at least I have a gold membership and book it to Alpharetta. 7 miles up Old Milton isn't terrible. Biggest issue I found was the locker room upkeep. Always lots of dirty towels; not so many clean. Maybe mopping the floors every once in awhile? Did make suggestion to desk folks but they are so low on the food chain it almost made no sense. Getting responses back from management is difficult; calls are never answered and voicemails are rarely returned. I'm nowhere near the gym from 8-5 so in person was a no-go. I also found the equipment lacking. We joined Planet Fitness as we liked the equipment better and they maintained much better (LT always has stuff tagged out). While the offerings @ PF are very limited, the equipment is always available and in good shape. Lots to do @ LT; we never did any of the other things they have available. Just not interested in rock climbing, spinning, and yoga. I do like having the heated pool. My wife uses the lap pool much more. Overall, LT Sugarloaf is a good club. Just be mindful of its limitations. read more

I've moved around this area for a summer internship and right after work my friend and I just hit the gym. We go around peak hours, but I've never had an issue getting a spot on any machine I want (except for some of the weight lifting ones, they only have one of each kind but I've never had to wait much more than 5 minutes). Compared to a lot of gyms, I love this one because they have everything you could possibly ever want. Swimmers: -2 indoor swimming pools (competition and a warmer recreational one) with 2 hot tubs -2 outdoor pools, with 1 hot tub and 2 water slides Runners: -about 50 treadmills, 10 elliptical cross trainers, 10 step machines, and some other machines I really don't know the name of.... Weight champs: -1-4 machines of different kinds that works out each area of your arms/legs/abs/etc. -There are two sections, one for weights, and one for benching. I find the benching area one big testosterone fest, with guys dropping/slamming the weights left and right. Every time the floor rumbles, it's always from this area. Healther Lifestylers (Yoga, Sauna, Etc): -2 places for yoga -at least 3 saunas available, 2 wet (a minty one and an unbearably hot one, which for some reason always has a party going on of older, gossiping Korean ladies) -place on the 2nd floor with medicine balls, resistance bands, mats, hand weights, and other toning fitness items -Rock climbing available Ballers: -I didn't see a soccer field -2 large basketball courts Other info: -Very kid friendly, but none of opposite sex children allowed in changing rooms -there's a "healthy" cafe right when you enter -there's also a spa in here, offering nail, hair, and I think massage packages. TL;DR: Unless you're a soccer/racquetball/tennis player, this gym is really nice. Gym trainers are really friendly. Really not a bad deal considering how good the benefits are in the long run, provided you go a lot. ( that was big mistake) I don't go to the gym that often .. but for all those years I've never considered To cancel my membership. I love Lifetime Fitness! I have been a member for more than three years and I really enjoy it. The monthly membership fee is considerably higher than other gyms but I like the programs and extra options offered by Lifetime. The locker room is always clean with plenty of units available. I like that locks are included with each locker so I don't have to worry about bringing my own. The showers are always clean and there are fresh towels available at all times. There are a large variety of classes throughout the day and evening making it very convenient for most members. The classes are a lot of fun and provide variety to the weekly workout routine. When working on cardio, I never have to wait for a machine. There are always more than enough machines available even during the gym's busiest times. The pools are great and provide lots of family fun during the summer months. The two features that caught my attention prior to joining are the Cafe and Spa. Both are very nice with friendly staff members. Sometimes I come to the gym to take advantage of the spa without actually working out. The spa is top quality and comparable to other fine spas in the Atlanta area. I wish there were more Lifetime locations in the area so I didn't have to travel so far to visit the gym. Recently they closed the place for a week for some remodeling, but the only difference I see is new basketball court floor and new treadmills. One key improvement in the lockers: they got rid of the carpets, so you don't deal with the "smelly feet" smell that usually permeates gyms. The outdoor pools are great during the summer and spring.
