I have changed my review to full on positive after attending this gym with greater consistency in the past months. it is perfectly maintained, spotless and the people are very very helpful. i haven't ventured into the pool yet, but the locker rooms are pristine, machines are maintained and the place feel more like a spa than a gym. Happy people abound !! It's a great environment. As a new member, you have to run the gauntlet of saying "no" to personal training which is somewhat hoisted on you; maybe it's for good reason, i don't know. After all this is a business; i get it. This gym is amazing I was a member of The sporting club at the bellvue in center city Philadelphia which is a comparable gym but I like the level of service I receive at Lifetime . Being that I travel often being a member here gives me access to other Onyx gyms around the county .The indoor & outdoor pools are great in addition to the huge hot tubs . Unlike most gyms this place is never overcrowded and if it was there is plenty of space to go around . I highly recommend becoming a member I enjoy it so much that I pay a $5 toll per day just to come from Philly to Jersey to workout read more

Love this gym! I've been a member for about 6 months. I enjoy the variety of classes; however, I do wish they had more over the weekend. just updating from my last post~ i left lifetime officially in july 2017... i first tried to freeze it b/c i was out of the country for 2 weeks back in may 17. little did i know, there were a lot of extra fees on top. for example, an activation fee? and then the actual monthly fee of freezing the account is by pro-rata basis? the activation fee and rate by pro-rata basis were never disclosed to me... of course, the reps will just say, "did you read the fine print?" IMO, that should be communicated explicitly during the sign up orientation... at first, i tried to discuss this with one of lifetime's relationship managers who sounded reassuring that he will put in a case with corporate to reimburse me for activation fee. it was a relatively small amount but i just dislike the idea of hidden fees.. i paid extra monthly for the flex plan to have the option to freeze my membership, but in additional to that, there are MORE fees when i actually freeze it. as a customer, i can't understand that approach.. after 2 weeks, i never heard back on the adjustment. it was then when i decided to leave lifetime for good. when i put in my "last day", there is a 30 day period before it is actually cancelled.. so i left my account on freeze until the contract was completely terminated... i was pretty annoyed with the whole process and even though i enjoyed my time there, i'm happy i'm not dealing with the expensive membership anymore.. heck even my trainer whom i met at lifetime left due to terrible upper management.. we still continue to train post-lifetime without the excessive cost and boundaries. definitely at a much happier place right now. read more

I've been a member since April of last year and I stopped going in August because I found the center discouraging and unfriendly for someone of my age - I'm 58. I took advantage of their free hour personal assistant upon joining the club and my evaluation came back that I was in overall poor fitness shape. A fair assessment had I been 20 years younger, but not in my age category. Then I fell ill immediately after I began and was sick at home for three months. You can bet I wasn't going to go back after being judged at the bottom of the scale when I was healthier. And no one called to ask why an active member wasn't showing up. Althogh my review is long I recommend you read it before becoming a member here at life time; Although the gym is fantastic itself, with the great cafe with amazing food, the locker room which is really nice, and the pool which is very nice. There are a lot of things I would have to complain about as an average person just trying to workout. I like to play basketball before or after my workout, only some of the time it is open for me to use but they only have one court and it is either being occupied by the children's group which they have a center for but for some reason take up the court for games, then they'll have full/half court games that will last a very long time, this is unfair to people just trying to shoot around when lifetime only has one court. I've also noticed how lifetime does not have a track. They do have top of the line tread mills but most people like myself like to run on a track. Lifetime in Mt. Laurel also has a huge amount of land surrounding the gym itself, they do not take advantage of it, for all this money I am paying for a membership, instead of a spa not many people even use because that costs money alone... Make a tennis court. Or an outdoor basketball court. I would also like to add that although they have top of the line equipment for working out, I don't believe they put Space into the picture. When I goto the gym I am struggling for a bench to use, or the right dumbbells to use. I can go on but I don't have that much more space, Finally, there is only one exit at the moment and it is very inconvenient for most of the member due to where they live, I can say from a lot of people we have to make an illegal turn. One day policemen are going to start to hand out tickets like its nothing, they have another exit which is very convenient and have Been promising to be opened but nothing has happened. I've been coming here since they opened October 2015. This place is awesome! I try my best to get a workout in everyday which isn't hard because I love it here! This place is like a resort - yoga, Pilates, indoor pool, outdoor pool, basketball courts, sauna, steam room, spa and a plethora of machines to keep your muscles confused and your work outs from getting boring. Despite my poor eating choices (which you can see from my reviews here LOL) I've managed to lose 10 lbs in the past two months and maintain my ideal weight. This gym has pretty much everything you would ever need. When looking for gyms we took everything into consideration before deciding on Life Time. Although somewhat pricey, you get a lot for what you are paying for. When we went there for our first visit, and before joining, we had to go through an "account manager" for a tour and explanation of the pricing plan. Prior to committing, we went to check out the closest alternative in the area, the YMCA. It was like night and day. Despite the lower price point at the YMCA, we chose Life Time and went back that night to sign up. Considering everything you get included at Life Time, it would cost more adding everything a la carte at different facilities. A few tips: make the most economical choice if given "LT Bucks" when joining. You could spend all of them on two personal training sessions, or on 3 months of something else. Also, be prepared for the up-sell talk when going for your first "consultation". Know what you want and avoid the pressure to add on any other sessions or packages. All in all, its hands down the best option in the area gym-wise read more

I joined a couple of months ago and everything was ok... I pay alot a month compared to other gyms. I was using one of the equipment and a guy approached me the wrong way. He was cursing at me and said he was using it. I went and told the employees and they just stood there. I asked them if they were going to do anything about it? They even saw how the guy was talking to me because he came and yelled that i was a lying sack of shit..obviously this man was on some type of drug, not in his 5 senses. I was hoping they would take him out , but they didn't. They said something to him .. but the guy was still mumbling things at me and when i finished using the leg machine he started clapping and everyone turned. Finally i just left. Worth every penny. There are no other gyms out there, in this area, that offer what life time does. I don't have kids yet, but I cannot wait to after seeing everything they offer for children and families! This is more than a gym...it's a community. This gym is by far the best gym I've been to. I have no idea what people could find wrong with it. I pay 140 a month for my son and I, we get everything we need. He can go to multiple classes plus the big pool complete with water slides. The adult classes are epic and offered at all times throughout the day. The gym is open from 4am to 12am, who could ask for better hours? I don't understand what people find wrong with this gym, it has everything you need to stay fit. You pay for what you get. One would think that for over $100 per monthly, problems would be minimized for you. Sadly, you would be mistaken. Here are problems I observed during weekdays, from 10:00 to noon. I don't know what happens at other times. My free training hour from joining was horrible....I would have paid more not to have it. Preschool kids are all over and often unsupervised, running and screaming while their mothers use cell phones. Members often leave soiled towels all over the locker room and trash in lockers. There is continual, extremely loud music on the workout floor, worsened by trainers using portable sound systems. Member complaints? Management responds in writing, but does nothing about problems. Members "own" multiple machines with towels that others want to use. Management does nothing about it. Children defecate in the pool.....and there's frequent PH testing, so there may be plenty of urine too. Employee turnover is ridiculous. Most workers don't last one year due to poor pay and hostile management. There are occasional locker room thefts. It's unwise to leave wallets and cell phones in lockers. Cars are occasionally burglarized in the parking lot. Most members don't wipe down equipment after use. There was a serious fire on the roof in 2018....multiple areas were shut down. The products displayed and sold are greatly overpriced. "Life Time Bucks" are a joke that expire and can't be earned again. read more

You can find a better quality gym and nicer staff at ANY other gym. Staff is extremely rude, overcrowded, and did I mention how rude the staff is. It is overpriced, overfilled, and the quality is no better than a retro or planet fitness. Not to mention, I was suckered into a contract. I have gone to the gym a handful of times, now work full time and have school full time at night and on the weekends so I don't have any time to get to the gym and they won't let me out of the contract a few months early. If you go to a gym where they actually listen and care, they would cancel it with no problem. They are in the business of making money and not caring about what happens after that. The locker rooms have been so dirty. Dirty Towels thrown in the showers. Be cautious with your young daughters in the family changing room. Single men like to walk around only wearing a towel as they prance around on their cell phones staring at young girls getting dressed. I've even seen a woman walk around in a towel, sat her naked bottom on the bench and had a convo on her phone. She had no children with her. Why use the Family room - to pick up the single creepy men that walk around naked?? Then you have the Poop Festival in the summer. It's like a daily occurrence that people are pooping in the pool (young kids AND older kids and some elderly). Then the pool gets shut down and you have to go home. They had a 10 year old boy with a known diarrhea issue poop in the pool to have it shut down for the day. Why didn't they enforce the safety of others by making a known child with a health problem wear some type of pull up??!! Are they not aware of how sick others can get?? By the time someone notices it, it's already been infecting the water and some kid probably already swallowed some. Too many violations. The club use to be better under the old GM, he kept things in order. Now it's just ran poorly. Don't think this GM knows how to run a health club. Save your money!! read more

Amazing! Worth the $$ for what you get. The yoga is incredible!! The instructors really know what they are doing and help you adjust if needed. The place is consistently in impeccable conditions. Plenty of everything to go around. My only slight complain would be the personal training sales pitch during your "move it" session. I get they need to do it but it's annoying. We joined because of kids academy, which turned out to be a huge disappointment. My 2 year old was not being helped by staff to use the bathroom ( she can't reach the handle on the door), so she had "accidents" every time we were in the gym. She doesn't have accidents in her daycare ever. The rest of the kids were treated badly - often yelled at and threatened by the staff. The don't want to stay in the gym anymore. Beautiful facility but they have memberships way beyond their capacity. At any given time it is impossible to go without having to wait for a machine or be rushed off by someone waiting for it. The classes are too packed with barely any room to move and they only have 2 studios for classes that you don't have to pay an additional fee for. If you don't get there at least 15 minutes early for a class you won't get in. The pool is beautiful and spacious but again, over capacity and can't get a lounge chair or have room to relax without someone on top of you in the pool. This used to be a great club but now it's an over crowded gym that would be worth it you could work out. And the crowds are all hours of the day . I caution anyone to go after 5 pm when there is barely space to stretch. Hoping another club of this caliber comes along and doesn't over sell memberships. Large gym with many programs available. Completely unempowered/ uncaring management. I tried to break a one year contact as I stopped using the facilities after three visits. They could do nothing and told me to come back at the end of the contract. $2000 later (with no additional visits) I came back and they said because I didn't give them 30 days notice, I have to pay for another month! They have taken $2000 from me already and now want another $160! It is not like they need the money -the place is always packed. Completely heartless and greedy. read more

The facility itself is beautiful but the customer service is really really poor. They give you these things called lifetime bucks when you sign up or refer members and they've been nothing but a frustrating pain in the behind. I can't get anyone to call me back despite trying for over 2 weeks. I've been given conflicting information by staff members numerous times. The GM told me through email I'd be getting 50 more bucks for an issue I had with my bucks before and they're still not in my account. It is recommendation to their corporate headquarters that they do away with the whole program as its nothing but a major inconvenience. The positives of the gym are: beautiful facility with brand new equipment, exciting and fun group classes, clean well stocked lockers rooms, unique cardio equipment, family oriented. Amazing thats all I can say about this gym. In fact I can't even call this place a gym rather it should be called heaven. The one thing that turned me off but ended up being well worth it was the price. It is a bit costly but after you see what you get you understand and accept that fact. With all the pools hot tubs saunas and amenities you get it is worth it. [Hats not even mentioning the top of the line equipment numerous classes and more stuff then you can do in one day. Signed up when my girlfriend was 6 months pregnant and was told we could put her account on hold when she gave birth- Just received a call from what was a "manager" asking how my experience was at lifetime. I told her its been great but thanks for calling me and that i needed to put her account on hold since she just gave birth. She stuttered and told me i couldn't because i was on a one "year" contract. When i signed up the sales rep told me i was able to put her account on hold until she was able to come back. I repeated my self that she just gave birth and the sales rep told me i could do this. The "manager" rudely says well is it for medical reasons? i said SHE JUST GAVE BIRTH. Off course im upset at this point and could have handled it a little better but her attitude did not help. She proceeds to tell me then i would need a doctors note. At this point i just want to cancel my member ship and she says well im the manager and you have a one year contract. I am turned off before I started. They told me and my husband the signing fee, included initial fee and monthly. My husband said ok so my card won't get charged until the end of April the guy says yeah it will not be charged. Well what do ya know, we joined 03/31/17 and paid $233.00 and then was charged another $180.00 04/01/17. Not cool!! Called the guy we were dealing with and he said I never said this, and I would never say that. Then they charge you for everything. If we are paying $160 a month I should be able to join any class but no some you have to pay for which is insane. This is reminding me a lot like that scamming ass Bally's in the 90's. If I could give zero stars I would. Horrible customer service. Met with a salesman that promised to get us information regarding swim team and lessons, never received answers. Months later he sends guest passes and a $20 sign up email. Forgets to mention that the passes are only good after 4pm and you have to call and make an appointment to see him to use the pass. Extremely unprofessional! They also recently gave a friend a hard time about pausing her membership while away on military duty. They tried to charge her extra to put the membership in a temp hold! I went on line looking for a facility that my husband could go to for one day to help with a pulled muscle as we are visiting from Florida for a week. They advertise a one day pass and you are prompted to put your info in to get pricing for a day pass. The next morning he had 4 emails from sales and a phone call. When he explained to the associate what he needed she basically told him he needed to join for an extended time, seems like they are all about the membership sale and nothing else. So my comment is why advertise a one day pass when they have are not going to honor what they advertise. For a company that is trying to expand to other states, including Florida where we live not to at least try to help a future member is unacceptable business practices. I don't care how great your facilities are , without great service for your guests you are nothing but another gym!!!! read more

First impression was WOW! Once they complete their sales pitch they tell you that you have a complimentary training session which is really another sales pitch to sign up for private trainer or classes. I have referred quite a bit of people here and have been rewarded with LT bucks that can only be used on extra classes or spa, not towards cost of membership or items. Plus they have an expiration date which I find unfair. Now this was the first time they opened in the summer but it's not the first lifetime. They have experience in knowing what it's like however seem to stick to what they stated when you sign up. 1. Hours for pool changed.. shorter. 2. Outside cafe closes earlier without notice. Ex. It's 4:32 and just closed doors on a Sunday with a lot of people here. Yesterday lifeguards wanted to leave and and closed at 7;15.. 3. Outside cafe and pool has been randomly closed without notice. With the technology they have it should be posted on their website at least so you don't waste the trip coming. 4. I understood guest policy from beginning but it should be the same for weekend. 5. One co-ed bathroom outside!!!!! Really? And no changing facility. My kids are not little but no wonder their are accidents in the pool. What happened to the must have swim diaper on? Q You have to travel inside to use the bathroom .. not to mention with all the staff they have standing around, the outside bathroom is not cleaned on a regular basis. It has paper all over it and don't go in barefoot. 6. So they came out with lifetime cups and you get FREE refills on ice tea. 3 separate times I tried to buy and they were sold out. It seems like everyone has a cup. They said they were not doing the promotion anymore and when I give them my same size cup with a different name the guy tells me he can't fill it up. I said yes you can, but I guess you'll have to charge me the 2.25.. and he did not hesitate but I find it very unfair. I am here a lot and I buy items all the time from cafe's... help pick up towels for guards and don't let my kids act like lunatics and this was the first time I ever asked for ice tea and charges me. Where is the customer service? It's all about the $ here. Not to mention 90% of staff have no personality. They all gather in groups to talk about the guests and don't really smile. Each guard has different rules for slide and they don't seem to communicate much. They have been low on towels.. don't pick up trash that might be in front of them, close when they feel like it and don't keep it consistent. Music for outside is sometimes on and sometimes not. I would have thought that they might have even done a BBQ for holidays to get guests to stay here and some games for kids with staff like other pool clubs but nope. I'm just remembering all that I notice. The showers.. definitely the staff does not clean often. It's a shame that there are still people who leave their hairs in shower but it needs to be cleaned and not there for hours.. and only 3 showers available. The place gives you this impression but little by little get disappointed bc your let down. I think if they step up on customer service and stay consistent with ruled it will be more enjoyable..and not charge for everything else extra. It's not for everyone. First few times I felt like I was at an oasis but as rules changed feeling is changing too. read more

I have to say, the amenities are great! What drew me to Lifetime that you don't get with other gyms in the area is the outdoor pool. That was what really sold me. You really do feel like you're at a resort! Even at peak after-work hours, I don't have trouble getting a cardio machine or other equipment in the gym, which is nice. However, those peak times are when it is SUPER LOUD in there because not only do you have regular music coming over the speakers, but all of the team classes are going on at the same time in the same space with their OWN super loud music playing. It's ridiculous. I'd really like to see that done away with. I've seen other reviewers mention the same thing. Also, the gym is generally clean except the floor always seems exceptionally dirty on the one carpeted corner upstairs by the offices/weight machines. I've been to a few yoga classes, which is my class of choice and I have enjoyed them. There is also child care, spa and cafe for convenience, which I like. You do get what you pay for though, so it is pricier than previous gym memberships I've had. Overall, I'm happy with being a Lifetime member. read more

I have belonged to many gyms in my lifetime (I'm 52) and I've taught aerobics as some in my past as well. The gym overall is great. Machines and equipment are well kept and up to date. The pool is wonderful and always quite clean. The steam room is heavenly. The only downside is the staff. For the most part, they're friendly and helpful. I've had a few great group class teachers ... However, they work on commission and it's so obvious. If you talk to anyone for any reason you suddenly feel like you're in an infomercial. They'll try to sell you vitamins, power bars as well as every other service you can imagine. It's great if you can drop $300-400 a month at a gym ... But most of us cannot. The $109 monthly fee is already steep but well worth it. Last month my phone blew up with texts from every person I ever talked to trying to sell me classes, sessions and supplies. You have to be honest and upfront about how much you're able or willing to spend. It is a great gym but unfortunately they train their staff to see you as a dollar sign. read more

I have never written a review on anything in my life, but the AWFUL customer service at lifetime needs to be brought to light. When the gym fee for 2 parents and 2 small children is the amount of a car payment, you would think that the customer service would match the price. I have been trying to contact "the only person who has access to my account" now for over a week. Ive sent numerous emails, left multiple voicemails and have tried to speak with other representatives. Ive called this magical person directly (whom I hope nothing happens to because if she is the ONLY person who can handle someones account, you're all in trouble) Ive also called the main corporate office on each occasion I was told she was either out of the office or on the other line and that she would call back. Never got a call back, or she never came back into the office. I was overcharged and the amount they charged for ended up over drafting my bank account, putting me in the negative now and owing overdraft fees to my bank. (we're not talking a couple dollars here either) I have actually visited the gym one time and only signed up because I got suckered by the "kids academy" which actually has little to nothing for toddlers except in the morning (which if you're a working mom this does not fit your schedule) if you want to work out at night you can drop your toddler off in the mad house that is the kids academy where chuck e cheese meets gym. Kids of all ages and sizes running wild. If you are a real house wife of NJ or a basketball wife maybe this gym is perfect for you, its pretty and shiny and new, the pools are cool, but the actual space itself is less than impressing. The cafe is overpriced and also not worth the quality or quantity of the food you get. Would really love a call back to cancel for next month, hopefully this magical Houdini person can make a phone appear and call back an extremely frustrated customer. I love this place, best facility, clean clean clean, large enough that even with all the New Years resolutioners there is always open equipment to use no matter what time of day. Not sure why other reviewers say it is loud, most times I work out with my headphones on (doesn't everyone?) and noise is never an issue. The on site spa is a quality of life improvement for me, no more additional trip to get manicures, pedicures, facials or massages. For manicures they utilize shellac brand polish with the safe LED lights for gel manicures. I have been to more expensive salons where the gel manicures use the UV Lights and manicures peel off with in days. The membership is pricy, but worth every penny. If your time is limited, a healthy lifestyle is a priority, and you value the services and amenities ( I did not even go in to the pool or childcare) the organization offers, it is worth it. I am not a member of Life Time but I am really shocked how a club can survive in this area that has such high membership fees. I am a senior and belong to Virtua and pay $68 a month. I used to live in Las Vegas and my friend laughs at how much I pay. Clubs are so much less there to join and they are open 24 hours. The fact that Life Time charges this much money and is not open 24 hours is absurd. I realize most people aren't on a graveyard schedule but the club should be open whenever you want to use it. It certainly would give me a reason to switch. What really annoys about Virtua is the club closing at 6pm on Fridays and Saturdays. Church Rd is simply a traffic mess during the day. If I was able to use a club at 11pm when there is minimal traffic it would be another reason to join. I was excited when I heard Life Time was opening near me and thought it would be a 24 hour club as so many of their facilities are. I'll bet that the 24 hour clubs charge the same as Mt Laurel. I'll stay put and save $50 a month until I hear or read that the hours have changed. read more
