It's personal training in a small group setting. The workout changes every day so over the course of a week, even if you don't go every day, you work your entire body. Some days are strength training, some are cardio, some are both! I typically burn 300-400 calories - and the workouts are only 45 minutes long - including warm up and cool down. You can't get more efficient than that. The trainer, Grant, will help you modify any exercise to your fitness level. The equipment is state of the art and very clean. They offer FREE CHILDCARE, which is a massive benefit. My kids beg to come with me to Burn because the play room is so much fun, full of (very clean!) toys, arts & crafts and very warm and loving childcare workers. I've been bringing my youngest since she was a baby and I've always felt comfortable with the care provided. A bonus is that you can peek in on the kids through a window throughout your workout, which is great for peace of mind. I had no expectations when I joined Burn 2 years ago. To say it's changed my life is an understatement. I've dropped pounds, inches, and lowered my percentage of body fat. I have more energy than ever, a better attitude and I've made some pretty fantastic friends along the way.

In the end I chose Burn for the the childcare aspect, the community and the classes. Child care is huge for me because of my smaller Children. The community is great. The culture is uplifting and welcoming. The owner Robyn goes out of her way to make everyone that walks through the door feels welcomed and informed. Grant and Diane follow suit. They train and encourage all members. There are other trainers but I have not worked with them. But from what I know of the culture I'm sure they have that same welcoming and encouraging strength. The classes have different levels of difficulty and can be modified for any type of comfort level. Amy and Jackie are usually at the front desk checking people in and welcoming everyone. They have taken the time to know my kids names and also welcome them when they walk through the door. Truly this place is such a great place for everyone. There is also a sit down consultation to find where you can improve on your eating and see results of the progress you're making. I do not take as much advantage of this but I probably should. I'm not ready to give up my food but I can say I feel stronger and there has been a change to my body. I will recommend Burn to everyone I know. If you're on the fence I say jump. You will not regret it.

She basically gave me a tour of the gym and let me know if I needed anything to reach out to her. I felt very welcomed which put me in a great workout mindset. The lighting is different than what I'm used to at other PFs. It's more on the dimmer side which I don't love. I couldn't tell if the equipment was on the older side or not, however, everything was very clean and well maintained. Machines/equipment do seem to be closer than I'm used to, which left minimal personal space. The women's locker room reminded me more of a lifetime locker room vs PF. It was definitely the nicest locker room I've utilized in comparison to other locations. The crowd status had 2 bars when I checked in but there was plenty of equipment available. I did not have to wait for anything. At my previous gym 2 bars meant the gym was busting at the seams and I was very grateful this wasn't the case here.

There is flexibility and classes offered for people with zero experience all the way to serious experienced athletes. It is also incredibly helpful for mind/body and spirit connection. Pilates is a necessary part of my mental and self-care routine. When the pandemic hit, they offered online classes and then, before they were able to open full studio sessions, they started offering 1:1 Pilates sessions. I signed up right away and met Lisa. When regular classes started to be available, I realized that 1:1 is best for me due to some physical limitations that vary week to week. Lisa and I have continued to work together weekly ever since. She is great at adapting to my body's needs each week. I love that I have this consistent workout each week and that Lisa and I get to spend another hour together.

I used to go to Pure Barre in Texas, but I ended up taking an almost two year hiatus because my schedule got a little bit to hectic to commit. Now that I have some flexibility, I booked a class at this Pure Barre and headed in. The classes have been exactly what I was used to, but they're also different which is what I love about PB. You know what you're getting into once you've been to one class, but classes are just different enough each time that it never gets boring. So far I've only taken classes with Carly and she's really great! She stays on top of the whole class and ensures that everyone is using proper technique. Don't worry if you've never taken a class before, the instructors won't single you out, they'll come over to you privately and help you to find the right pose/posture. The owner, Kristy, is also a gem. She's super friendly and very welcoming to everyone. The one thing that really sticks out to me about this studio over others that I've been to, is class size. I used to have to workout really early or at lunch to avoid being in a packed to the brim class in Texas (they did end up opening a second location so I'm sure that alleviated some of the congestion), but this Naperville location is perfect. So far I've only gone to the 9:30am classes during the week, but they really aren't packed. I never feel like I'm trying to define my own personal space in this studio. If you want to try a new workout that isn't crazy intense on your body, but will still be challenging and changing... this is the workout for you! It's a great change of pace from yoga with the faster pace of Pilates. And this studio is top notch!

Their assistants Debbie and Nicholas are also great and will constantly push you and give sound advice. There is a friendly family atmosphere for the most part, but these guys know when to get serious, command respect from all students, and push the physical limits of the class. Like Kristen B. noted, the first class is free for any martial art you want to try out, and you can try them all. For newbies, there's a pretty mixed crowd in the beginner and intermediate Muay Thai classes. I'd say about 35-40% of the class is female, and the age spread is very wide from age 10 to people in their 40s. Many of the advanced and intermediate level students go to the beginner classes to brush up on their basics, and it gives the new students some experienced partners to help them progress. Most of all, EVERYONE is just really chill. If there's anything that might need improvement, the gym itself could use a water fountain and an interior refresh here and there. At least they sell cold beverages and bottled water for relatively cheap. Other than that, it's a pretty good size gym with a full-size ring, weight-training area, a big class mat area, and a heavybag area. You can also order your equipment through them. Test yourself and feed that inner beast. It's great fun and being with good people makes it even more worthwhile!
