Great massage. I came because of chronic fatigue and stiffness. The owner Frank and I spent a lot of time talking about my issues and analyzing my posture and balance beforehand. I found out more about my back and body than I have in my entire life. I learned a lot about how my body is completely out of balance. I got the myofascial release massage to help with my fatigue and to help increase blood flow. I also got the foot reflexology and ion foot detox. The foot massage and foot detox was by far my favorite because I was able to relax more. Frank spent a lot of time adjusting my body that we went over our 2 hours. I booked a massage THINKING it would be like any other massage (where I go once, get relaxed, pay, and then leave). I was SO wrong. Frank went so far above and beyond just the 90 minute massage. He sat with me for 30 mins to really get to know me and what I was dealing with, and the areas that I believe need healing in my body prior to even starting. He showed me exercises to help my plantar fasciitis and calf pain, & to improve my posture so I feel daily relief. He also reminded me how important it is to "pour into my own cup" before I pour into others, and encouraged a few small additions to my day (like ~10-20 mins of ME time). F Ranks knowledge was very apparent s he explained how poor posture was affecting my body and responsible for my complaints. As a yoga instructor and life long advocate of improving and maintaining my personal health I was shocked by how poor the alignment of my body was. I was more shocked to learn how poor posture is the likely culprit for much of my muscle and tissue discomfort. This man was so unprofessional! He literally kept insulting me because he was not clearly giving instructions on my posture and how I was supposed to maneuver my body. He told me "it's like putting toothpaste on a toothbrush, I guess we all can't do it the first time." He kept laughing at me, and then he said, "I guess we all can't be fast." To top it off, he told me to pretend we were on a beach somewhere to try and relax then asked me if I knew where Africa was. That was the final straw. I left! Then when I told him I was leaving he said "is it something I said?" Are you kidding me? This was the most unprofessional service I've ever received! Today was my first initial visit with Frank. It was very educational for myself and learning how my body reacts to different situations. Frank is truly an empath. He understood my Emotions and the emotions my body was representing without being told. I am a very get going and don't stop person. Wow, I wish I could give extra stars. This was one of the best massages I have ever received. I booked for a Swedish but after getting there and discussing my goals and having him analyze my posture he suggested a combo of several techniques. It was more of a corrective massage, focused on specific areas where he could feel I needed attention. I actually felt several of the corrections happen in my bone structure while he was doing it which was awesome to see what he was talking about. At the same time it was still very relaxing and felt great but I also felt a big difference at the end. I joked that I felt taller but here I am a few days later and I honestly think I'm walking a little bit taller lol. It was clear that he is very well traveled and trained. I was in a lot of pain in my neck, back and hips, so I searched on Yelp for someone close to the hotel I am staying in. He was very accommodating with my work schedule and spent time getting to understand my needs a good 20 minutes which were not taken out of my 90 minute massage. It was my first time going to a male therapist in his home but everything was comforting and I felt safe and secure in his care of my physical and emotional needs. The mix of Eastern and Western forms of therapy helped me relax and I liked his way of trying to incorporate my thoughts into relaxing as much as my muscles needed it as well. Tea L - I don't know how often you go for a massage, but I have a couple of suggestions. If you are uncomfortable at all - go ahead and talk about it with your masseuse so you can get that out of the way. Otherwise, it is unlikely that you will be able to enjoy the session. I remember the first time I went to see Frank and realized that the studio was in his apartment. I only knew because I could see the kitchen from where we sat in the living room as we talked. Any personal space of Frank's was completely separated from the massage studio and its dedicated bathroom. There are curtains and sheets available for privacy and coverage. Frank always demonstrates absolute professional courtesy regarding clothing and disrobing. Also - communication is essential with a masseuse. How else will they know? Frank can give all kinds of massages. I just wish I could stay awake through all of mine! He just does such a thorough job that I find myself waking up several times. Truly the best body work I've ever had. I'm a D.O. and often develop spasms in my upper back and shoulders. I went here and got a massage about a year and a half ago, but couldn't find my Yelp login info for awhile. Nonetheless, this guy was great and I wanted to write a review now that I was able to log in. I am a female in my 20s, so I was a bit hesitant to enter a man's apartment to get a massage, but I ended up feeling more safe and comfortable than I do in some of those small, East-Asian locales with plastic furniture covering everywhere. His apartment was comfortable, spacious and really warm and inviting. He spent about a half hour just assessing my posture, my movement, walking habits and lifestyle and that was on top of still giving me a full 1.5 hours of massage - he didn't cut into that time at all, which I appreciated. The massage was fantastic! None of that clapping/smacking/light strokes. He goes in and hits the muscles that need it, so it wasn't the most relaxing, but I also didn't go to him because I wanted some stupid spa adventure, I had muscle aches and nerve impingement and I needed a professional. And he fixed me. He knew the areas to focus on, even if they weren't what I complained about because he understood anatomy because he is a professional. I should also mention that I'm a physician and so I really could assess that he was knowledgeable. Wow! I can honestly say I have never been so relaxed in my body and calm in my mind as my first massage with Frank. I had googled "migraines/massage/philadelphia" was looking for a board certified masseuse and his name came up. I have chronic migraines that medications,botox, acupuncture,etc have provided no relief from,so I thought I'd give him a try.
