Just God awful people who claimed a vicious pain attack, an 8 or above on their pain scale lasting over a month, was due to my liver. A nurse even called from Highland Hospital to say that they could not treat me with narcotics because they could kill me pointing to my liver without even looking, no x-ray, mri, nothing. In fact it was my spine pinching a nerve! And with a CT scan from Kaiser showing the condition. Berkeley City College who is associated with Lifelong Medical went after asking that I sign my mental health rights away after going off about it in social sciences class. Lost my Pell Grants due to their cruel and egregious behavior. If course I bailed, f all of them!!! read more

I have a problem receiving telephone and calls from my doctor. Whenever he calls me the phone call goes directly to my voicemail. I received several phone calls from other people but only this doctor's office phone calls go directly to voicemail. Dr Stephens has been my doctor for years and no problem with service but since he's been with life-long medical I have so many issues with my appointments and no one seems to be able to fix it or care. read more

Since Life Long opening and during Covid19 I was always encouraged, waited, and active participation in my annual health plan goal. We grew together threw every policy changes for the good or bad. My only regret is Covid 19 has changed the security processing i/o of the parking lot and office. I had several false complaints, arrogant warnings, aggressive behavior and following around my their security staff. When attend L.Long Clinic for a appt. I have to be on high alert. Upon entering the office, there was no one up front, but there was a sign that said "sign in and have a seat :)", so i signed in and took a seat. After about 10 minutes of no one calling us up for paperwork (and having seen a receptionist, now at the front desk, look at the sign in sheet), I went to the front desk and asked the man that was sitting there if we needed to fill anything out. He then informed me that they "stopped seeing patients today because we needed to catch up". I was a little shocked because we had already been waiting there for 10 minutes, so I confirmed that even tho I signed in beforehand that I would still not be able to be seen. He confirmed this was correct. I understand that urgent cares in general are very busy, as I have been to an urgent care where, in a similar situation, they stopped seeing patients early and turned me away. I understand this and the reasoning behind it. The difference with Lifelong Medical Care, however, is that I had already signed in and had been waiting for 10 minutes. By not informing people that you are no longer seeing patients when they walk in, you are actively interfering with a person's healthcare. I can't believe a healthcare facility is actually allowed to operate this way. I feel so disgusted after having been to Lifelong Medical Care, I advise you go elsewhere. read more

My over the phone visit was absolutely terrible. Without even knowing my history the doctor tried diagnosing me with an eating disorder over the phone. Despite both my father and sister both testing for having celiacs diease last year. Thank God a previous doctor already referred me to gastro. I only came here to see if I could see a dietitian which they said wasn't an available option to me because I didn't have diabetes. I wish I could get my 15 minutes back. I have been a patient with lifelong for nearly 20 years. This clinic has become so horrible, including the dental clinic. The staff are rude and often verbally abusive. There is absolutely ZERO accountability for grievances. Scheduling is a waste of time. They don't return calls. This clinic seems like a full on racket. Just supporting administrative costs, and doing the bate minimum in the way of care for thoes privileged enough to be seen. read more

Absolutely horrendous "care." I was assigned to Lifelong Medical through Anthem Blue Cross/Medi-Cal. Getting an initial appointment was nearly impossible and after multiple calls and being placed on a waiting list, I only ended up with an appointment nearly 2 months later when I filed a grievance through Anthem. The way this place is structured makes communication next to impossible. There's a central number that handles every type of call or request (appointments, medical issues, Rx refills, etc.) for all of the office locations. There's no way to connect directly with your assigned office or provider. The folks at the call center are generally very nice but all they can do is send the medical team a message and hope it gets followed up on. There is an online patient portal but it's next to useless and you can't get a response from your PCP on it (at least I haven't been able to). The provider I was assigned seemed hurried and hadn't read my chart before our initial appointment. I turned 40 this year, yet my PCP didn't mention anything about getting a mammogram -- something that's recommended for all women starting at age 40. When I asked about it she gave me a referral to get one, but it makes me question what other routine screening is recommended that I don't know about. I've currently been waiting for over a week for my PCP to send my Rx refills to the correct pharmacy. She initially sent the prescriptions to the wrong pharmacy, and despite multiple calls to LifeLong's offices and sending multiple messages through the patient portal, she has yet to correct it. That said, I've also talked with another provider (a supervisor/director) at this office who was extremely competent and responsive. I only wish that I could have her as my PCP. And staff are generally very nice and empathetic. It's too bad that they don't have better tools at their disposal for addressing patient issues. read more

I've had lifelong medical for many years now, and they have provided me with fantastic and reliable care! Dr. Gordon (my GP) is available to talk through my concerns, and if there are any problems with medication, she is able to work with me to figure out what to do. I really appreciate the affirming care that I get here, with a holistic focus on health and preventative care, not only reactionary care when something has already gone wrong. As a plus size person, I also very much appreciate that health concerns are not automatically dismissed as relating to my weight, I feel very heard and respected at my appointments. I turned 40 this year, and I'm getting a referral to get a mammogram, as well as getting hooked up with physical therapy, acupuncture, and other care for back pain. I find the patient portal to be a little slow at times, but I generally do hear back within the three days that they promise, and I know they're very busy! sometimes it can take a while to get labs done, and I do wish it was easier to make an appointment for that, because I don't always have an hour to spend waiting. Again, though, I know it's a busy clinic. All in all, I am very happy with the services provided and the practitioners I've seen. read more

I have had nothing but frustration with the referral process. Long delays from getting the doctor order to actually getting a referral, referral to agency that cannot provide test ordered, referral to more than one imaging center for a test already received and posted in my chart. If you use this agency your life may not last very long read more

They have students from UC Berkeley posing as nurses and unlicensed social workers... With no degree or credentials... The staff is verbally abusive and unprofessional... They literally told me they weren't able to do anything because they didn't have the right tools or experience to diagnose or treat me.. told me to go to the hospital. I feel bad for people that think this a REAL DOCTORS OFFICE. when it clearly isn't.. Addison West Berkeley lifelong is a fraud and should be shut down for malpractice and mistreatment of patients. This appointment was very bad.The ladie at the front desk. Kept putting me on holes.At one point I was on hold from 3pm to 4 pm. I Needed my refill for my Sobexien.On Feb 21th they sent a car to pick me up.Know one came.So I called lifelong for 2 days they never answered. It was a recording every time I called.The only way I got threw was the conseler Robert Athleta. The front desk is not doing there job right.I been going to lifelong since it opened. This has never happened. They would not let me talk to the director of lifelong. It's really sad it usto be a very good clinic. It's going down hill fast. read more

They wrote me a prescription on 12/15. I've been trying to have them send the prescription to a different pharmacy for over 3 weeks... They told me it would take at most 48 hours. They didn't even write down the address of the new pharmacy. I had to tell them it multiple times. Eventually they told me that I should expect to wait a long time for it to be resent and that they would call me back. They never called me back. I had to change doctors. I don't recommend this place. They've blatantly wasted my time over and over again its ridiculous. read more

Lifelong has the right attitude, treats me with genuine concern. They're on my side. They bend over backwards for me. They don't judge, they do anything they can to keep me well, extraordinary things even, they look for things that go beyond just putting a band-aid on me and washing their hands of me... I've been a patient @ Lifelong Trust Clinic on 14th & Franklin for almost 5 years now. I'm fortunate that I had the same doctor throughout that time, even through the pandemic, and my doctor, who I can't name here, has been my physician, my advocate and someone I can trust. I see him for the myriad debilitating conditions that make everyday life more difficult and I know that he will treat me with dignity, open-mindedness and respect with whatever is ailing me. Being in lots of discomfort all day, it's such a good thing that my healthcare professional is attentive with my needs and can intervene if I have a problem with the system. Whether I'm afflicted with ulcers, the flu or the cold, chest pain and everything in-between, I know my doctor has my back. I have rated the clinic 4 stars because it's so difficult to get a prompt appointment without access to a walk-in appointment, and sometimes the wait times in the seating room can stretch to over an hour. Sometimes I will be booked for an afternoon appointment I made 2 weeks in advance, only to wait in the seating area past closing time because the doctors are so backed up with patients, they can't catch up, and I would have to reschedule , and I rarely get a makeup date within a week. I wish those things were addressed soon. As far as the value of the services provided, my doctor will go beyond what he would normally do for patients if he believes it will help me in my recovery, and that is worth more than gold. read more

Maggie Kuhn would be spinning in her grave, if she knew what a train-wreck had been made out of her beloved Over 60 clinic, now run by Lifelong Medical Care. I've been a patient there since 2011, and I haven't had a competent medical provider since 2015. I keep getting referred to providers who have no interest in anything I have to say, nor in dealing with my health problems. It got so bad, after my provider at Over 60 left in 2015, that my neurology and pain management doctor (who was with Sutter) ended up taking over the role of primary provider for me. She got a new job 2 years ago, and I was tossed back to Over 60 and its horrible system. I have no interest in being shamed for my medical issues, thank you very much, nor am I interested in being referred (as I was recently) to other incompetents. Disappointment is an understatement. The lack of care this business provides is medical malpractice. They simply refuse to see or talk to patients about their issues - and that's baked into their policies! It's not their doctors or nurses, it is the rules they have to follow. They aren't allowed to listen to their patients fully because they have extremely short allowable phone appts, they don't see patients in real life. Their only solution is to go to urgent care - where you are nearly guaranteed to get COVID. They have no phone services to speak to even a nurse. I've never heard of this. And when you call with a medical emergency they do not call you back. Even when you continuously call and beg to speak to a nurse or doctor. read more

I want to amend my courtesy mental health assessment after FINALLY being able to speak with my "health professional" from "not Depressed " to "Seriously depressed". After spending a MONTH trying to communicate that I needed to see an allergist and need their "referral", I got an appointment to speak with someone who could "order" a referral. I may get that referral in a MONTH. Now the humans who guard the front door are good. They took my anger with grace and I left me appeased to wait yet another week to get that appointment. Between their normal office hours and their walk in clinics, I have always had my needs taken care of in a timely manner. For routine care, my providers have always gone above and beyond providing routine care. I've been referred to specialists and therapies and have had exceptional services provided. I go to the Ashby/Ed Roberts Campus for my appointments. Not sure why they have negative reviews, it's as if people forgot that we've been in a pandemic for years and they've been dealing with a world wide health crisis. read more

Funny one is suppose to follow up with center in timely manner from ER/ urgent care visit. even with fracture footed cant get appointment unless 2 weeks out. They tell you to show up early yet every time i do they are never on schedule and i end up waiting a good 30-45 mins past appointment time. curious what damage is when one fractures foot and cant get the recommended care needed They really dont seem to take health seriously yet are quick to collect the money like they carte about peoples health. so drs at er tell me get appointment within certain time and lifelong medical cant even provide that. also why is one charged the same whether appointment with dr or a nurse? even when they cant help minute you walk through door you will be charged. just documenting each visit at this point so can report to proper entities read more

Never seen or experienced such a treatment from any healthcare provider , after a two month wait to make an appointment with a nurse practitioner since there were no doctors available I had to wait in a long line outside the building just to be told that they cannot accomodate me due to their high volume of patients. They kept me waiting outside of the building for an hour to see if they can make it work. This was my first appointment with lifelong's general practitioner to set up care. I had severe neck and back pain that and needed urgent referral to see a specialist but had to go through their process before getting a referral. read more
