I personally know people choosing to drive to Ankeny to donate over coming to this branch bc it does not seem to be doing any better over months and months of management not fixing these issues. If it takes less time for someone to drive 40 minutes both ways on top of donating - you should recognize your business needs help. If this was one instance of a scheduling mishap that'd be a completely different thing but this has been an ongoing issue for far too long for management not to notice.

This girl looks me dead in my eyes, and tells me they are "kind of busy", and that I will have to come back tomorrow. I thought she was joking. She was not. She refused me service. I left. I called the Center Director when I got home. She gave no f***s. No apology, no nothing. Just said I can come back, if I want. If this is how they're going to do business, they won't be in business long.

And nobody I talked to wanted to help me figure out what we could do. The only thing the Red Cross honors is their no refund policy. Greed hungry people. I was the test to see if our company wanted to use this source as a CPR class for our employees. However, given how I was treated. And the fact that nobody honors their word or the papers that are printed and provided. I highly recommend reaching out to your fire stations or some other form for CPR classes. Don't waste your money through the American Red Cross.

Yep I gave blood for the first time in over 18 years! The…read morelast time I gave blood I was a young boy who wanted to help save the world! And I thought it was a good excuse to eat a box of Twinkies after.. Well that experience was far less wonderful then my recent experience at Lifeserve Blood Center. After a fairly quick questionnaire, I was in a room getting my vitals checked before I could give blood! Yep I have a low Pulse.. only 44 so they were a bit worried about that, but after saying I was a runner, they gave me the go ahead to give blood! The nurse was fantastic and the needle did not hurt to bad going in and she was there the whole time making sure I was doing ok! My pint of blood filled up in about 7 minutes and the whole experience lasted under 45 minutes from walking through the door to end of donation sipping OJ! I love how the signage was all about saving lives and it made me feel, like I did a really good thing for the world.. My arm was not to sore and I felt really good all day! The staff was all top notch, and it was a really positive, clean environment and I look forward to getting a reminder text or email about the next time I can give again. I feel like this should become part of my life! ... To help save some!

After seating me, they brought over multiple other doners who were helped before me, and thirty minutes later someone finally came to assist me. Mid-donation, they told me they had put the needle all the way through my vein, which resulted in a hematoma, and they gave me a kit to take home. After waiting countless minutes to get unhooked so I could leave, they informed me I had to finish my donation on the other arm. Three hours later, I'm finally home with both arms wrapped. I wouldn't go through that again for $500, let alone $45...

If you go, prepare to stand around for an hour before you even get tested to make sure you can donate. Overall, it was okay…read more Today was my first successful donation w/ physical and overall, my experience was okay. It wasn't great, but it wasn't horrible either. I arrived almost an hour earlier than my appointment time and appreciated being worked in and able to start my process earlier. The process was also super informational and thorough, but still somehow quick and efficient which was great. Staff also answered any questions I may have had during the process and were attentive to me as well. Truly my only complaints are during my finger prick at the first station, I was pricked in the center of my middle finger and 7 hours later it is still hurting like holy cow!! As a medical professional myself too, I know that finger pricks need to be on the SIDE of the finger. Next time, I will be making sure of this and I would hope that staff is fully complaint in doing so. I also happen to notice a donor frequently dozing off as well to which I saw no staff react or act upon. I was told that sleeping or having my eyes closed was not allowed due to safety precaution, but multiple people let this person "sleep" while they saw and did nothing. Just thought that maybe we could be better in the future for things like that.

TIP: if you have never donated before check the internet for new donor coupons. You can earn lots more on your first several donations. TIP2: if you know someone who donates and it's your first time full out a referral donor card. They can earn $50 when you provide your 2nd donation. #2 reason to donate: saving lives. They make so many life improving treatments from plasma. So when you donate you are literally saving lives. A regular donation takes about 1 hour. This includes the questionnaire, finger prick and vitals and the donation time. The first time you donate or if you haven't been here for awhile expect 2 hours because you will have to have a physical. Healthy persons age 18 to 69 can donate. Drink lots of water the day before and the day of donation. Make sure to eat something prior to donating too. It helps with any queasiness. All money received is deposited on a reloadable debit card immediately donation is complete. You can schedule all of your donations on their website. It's super easy. They have evening, early morning and Saturday appointments too. The staff here has always friendly and professional. The facility is clean and well maintained. They have a supervised child care room for donors that is free during your donation. Donating provides me with extra spending money when things get tight. Plus it's a relaxing hour to myself to read, cruise the internet or write yelp reviews.
