Three attempts to become a donor and now he is no longer interested! First attempt was when he showed up Tuesday but they turned him away because they said he had to have an appointment. The center hardly had any donors in there. Well we just went ahead with the appointment but this time when my friend showed up yesterday around 5:30 pm they never bothered to call him saying they had to reschedule. However the receptionist suggested he call today on his lunch break. Totally inept! They never bothered to answer the phone while he persisted for 15 minutes. It's not about helping patients or the community it's about collecting a check. You know what three strikes means.

While trying to figure out what app I had or how I went wrong, she informed me they stopped taking new donors (around 10:30am) and I would have to come back tomorrow. One of the other workers popped his head around the wall after hearing about the app (CSL) and let me know that the center was over on S. Monroe not too far away and that was probably where I meant to be. I thanked him and started to head for the door. Ms. Receptionist-with-attitude responded by telling me that I needed to head over there and try to figure out my appointments and where they were. I'm glad there's another donation center as the people that work at this one (excluding the young man that ACTUALLY helped) seem to just want people in and out and have no idea how to talk to people, lost or otherwise. Here's hoping the wonderful young man finds a better class of people to work around and the snide counter woman has the day she deserves.

I would like to share a very unpleasant and concerning experience I had at this donation center…read more During my most recent visit, the staff made several serious mistakes in venous access technique. After the needle was inserted, the machine repeatedly showed no flow. The staff did palpate the puncture site, changed the angle of insertion, and attempted to reposition the needle several times, but their actions were ineffective, painful, and did not resolve the issue. Instead of releasing or at least loosening the blood pressure cuff--as required by standard procedure--they increased the pressure even further, leaving the cuff inflated almost the entire time. This caused my arm to pulse, go numb, and become increasingly painful, while the blood flow only got worse. My arm also began to turn noticeably red, which was alarming. Only after I demanded that they stop the procedure did they finally discontinue it. The staff did not make this decision on their own, despite clear signs that the situation was worsening. It is important to note that even a person without medical training knows the basic rule that the tourniquet or cuff must be released immediately after the vein is accessed and blood flow begins. This essential step was completely ignored. The blood flow remained extremely slow, and the repeated manipulation of the needle caused significant pain, a hematoma, and required a very tight compression dressing afterward. I would also like to emphasize that the exact same issue occurred during my previous visit, but even more severely. The needle was inserted far too deeply, apparently into the soft tissues, which caused intense pain. The procedure had to be stopped, and I still have a visible scar from that unsuccessful attempt. After experiencing these problems twice in a row, I cannot consider the staff at this center competent in venipuncture or capable of ensuring a safe donation process. I have decided not to return, and I sincerely hope that management will address the qualifications of their staff and take these issues seriously.

Then the rude white chick (with the long dark hair) at the front (who's NOT a good communicator) started giving me problems about my mailing address. I was told to bring ''a piece of mail" proving my address. When I did, she said it wasn't the correct piece of mail-it didn't have a postage stamp and it wasn't a bill, so I was turned away for the 4/5th time. (Not my fault the PO didn't put that on there.) Thing is, all my bills are included in my rent, so none of them are in my name. I live in Murrells Inlet & It takes me about 15 miles/1 gallon of gas (1way) for me to get there, so to be turned away all those times that's a LOT of gas (which isn't free) and a lot of unnecessary wear and tear on my 21yo vehicle. Not to mention, it's very frustrating to know I've wasted my my time. I don't understand why after all this time (w/ no problems) now my address has become a problem. It has nothing to do with my blood. The fact that I hardly ever drink alcohol/take prescription meds and I don't do drugs + I'm willing to donate should be the main factors. I took my landlord in there one time and they wouldn't even let her donate because of her age, so my ? is, how is this place staying in business if they're turning so many people (who r willing to donate) away ? It shouldn't be this difficult to HELP others get the plasma they need & keep Grifols in business. I will never go back and I advise you not to waste your time either

The first time I went they said to come back because they didn't have enough staff. The second…read moretime i went, I was waiting and go so cold I went to my car to get my jacket and when i came back they said i would have to come back tomorrow. You're not allowed to go outside. Third time I went my BP was too high. 4th time my iron was too high. 5th time I got in. The second time I went, I encountered an older black lady that gave me quite the attitude. I thought, ok she's having a bad day. She was the same to me 3 more times after that on future days. I think she doesn't like white people. Can't do the QR code more than 5 minutes prior. The first few times no appointment required. Then they required it. Nobody told me. No sign either. Their hours were wrong on Google. I never got out in less than 2.5 hours on any visit. 3.5 hours one time. I went 12 times. The last time I went, I took my BP before I went and it read normal. They took my BP and it read way higher. They said to wait 10 minutes. I sat down, took my BP pill and they HAD TO TAKE IT 10 MINUTES ON THE DOT. They wouldn't let my pill take effect. A ridgid and stupid rule. It read high again so I left. I decided I wasn't going back. I went to Parachute on Slappey in Albany and they are much more easy going and friendly. AND FASTER. Takes about 1.5 hours. The pay seems to be about the same.
