I would like to share a very unpleasant and concerning experience I had at this donation center. During my most recent visit, the staff made several serious mistakes in venous access technique. After the needle was inserted, the machine repeatedly showed no flow. The staff did palpate the puncture site, changed the angle of insertion, and attempted to reposition the needle several times, but their actions were ineffective, painful, and did not resolve the issue. Instead of releasing or at least loosening the blood pressure cuff--as required by standard procedure--they increased the pressure even further, leaving the cuff inflated almost the entire time. This caused my arm to pulse, go numb, and become increasingly painful, while the blood flow only got worse. My arm also began to turn noticeably red, which was alarming. Only after I demanded that they stop the procedure did they finally discontinue it. The staff did not make this decision on their own, despite clear signs that the situation was worsening. It is important to note that even a person without medical training knows the basic rule that the tourniquet or cuff must be released immediately after the vein is accessed and blood flow begins. This essential step was completely ignored. The blood flow remained extremely slow, and the repeated manipulation of the needle caused significant pain, a hematoma, and required a very tight compression dressing afterward. I would also like to emphasize that the exact same issue occurred during my previous visit, but even more severely. The needle was inserted far too deeply, apparently into the soft tissues, which caused intense pain. The procedure had to be stopped, and I still have a visible scar from that unsuccessful attempt. After experiencing these problems twice in a row, I cannot consider the staff at this center competent in venipuncture or capable of ensuring a safe donation process. I have decided not to return, and I sincerely hope that management will address the qualifications of their staff and take these issues seriously. read more

I've been going to Grifols for quite some time now. The staff is awesome and very helpful and knowledgeable. It's a great way to make some extra cash for whatever you need. I only wish there was a way to know how busy it is. Sometimes the wait time is up to an hour. When there is minimal wait times you are in and out within an hour from start to finish. read more

Staff is friendly and compensation is fair but the waits are terrible. There is often only one screener doubling the wait time to donate. Pretty disappointing considering I am only able to donate on my lunch break. Employees really are great but they seem overworked. read more

They need to recalibrate their pulse machines. Between a nurse manually taking my pulse rate and my Apple Watch ECG app registering my BPM on the mid 70s, their pulse machine places me in the 100+ for a BPM and I'm constantly told I can't donate. Not worth the drive from Destin if they can't allow accurate readings for those that want to donate. At least let a nurses manual reading veto the uncalibrated machines. read more

After driving by this place many times I figured I'd check it out. As soon as I walked in I got my temperature and they sprayed hand sanitizer on my hands before walking inside the building. All Staff that I saw were wearing masks, face shields and gloves. I was greeted at the door and told them I'd like to register. Everyone I interacted with was super kind and explained every step on how to register. I was there for about 4 hours so if it's your first time, plan for it. They are thorough with getting all your information and medical history. After signing all the paperwork and getting a physical examination I was good to donate. During the donation process staff went through every step of the process. It's very fascinating how the machine separates the plasma from the blood. I saw staff wipe down everything for new donors. It all looked clean to me. While I was donating, staff checked on me frequently making sure I was feeling good. It took me about an hour to donate. Staff told me if you are well hydrated your donation can go quicker. They have TVs on to distract yourself or you can listen to music/read a book or whatever you like to pass the time. After donating I felt a little tired but after a few cups of water and some protein I felt better. In my experience Staff was super kind and friendly. Clinic is clean and well organized. This place is garbage I was shorted 40 dollars on my donation and the refuse to honor their commitment to pay me what they have posted on their board and are promising on their board. DON'T GO HERE!!! If I could give this place negative stars I would! The woman at the front desk was so rude and unfriendly! I told her I tried to donate before but I didn't weigh enough, she cut me off and told me to go around the corner to "room 6" which by the way is not labeled. She weighed me, I was 114, I said oh good so I can donate, she said what's the matter with you? I said nothing I'm tired(it was 7AM), she very rudely and abruptly handed me back my ID and SS card and said you can't donate if you're tired. I said I'm fine, it's just early, she said are you on medication? You seem off, your facial expression is off, I said I'm not on medication, I always look like this, I don't smile but I'm fine. She's like I can't let you donate you just said you were tired, try back later on. I said really I'm fine, she said no you said you were tired, I can't sign off on that and you say you're not on medication but your face is off, she then calls someone else in and says to her loudly, she just told me she is tired and she's not on medication but her facial expression is off, something isn't right so I'm not allowing this, the other woman didn't say anything to me or her she just walked out. I believe the rude woman's name was Kymmie. I have never been so humiliated in my life! By the way there is nothing wrong with my face, I naturally frown, and I'm not on medication, and if I was she didn't even ask what kind, it could be prescribed but she didn't know or care she just judged me and made me feel pathetic! Very friendly and enjoy the staff. It's very clean as well. Not a huge fan of the brown color on the chairs but easier to maintain I guess.
