He urged me to visit Dr. Seltzer to help me with my neck and shoulder issues, but I was skeptical and dragged my heels--very foolish to be so stubborn. Turns out Dr. Seltzer is everything that was promised: an exemplary physical therapist and a wonderful human being. This man has truly helped me. I no longer have any pain in my neck, and my shoulder mobility is really coming along. I look forward to our treatment sessions each week, and I always leave feeling terrific--usually I'm literally buzzing because of the stim treatment at the end of the hour. There's all the normal things you'd expect--rollers and bands and Bosu balls--but I think it's pretty clear that Dr. Seltzer has worked very diligently to create an environment that is conducive to healing: clean, calm, clear, and congenial. I worked primarily with Matt to recover from a snowboarding injury (MCL Sprain in my knee). Matt knew that my goal was to get back into snowboarding before the end of the season. I was diagnosed with tennis elbow and radial tunnel syndrome in my right arm. It was extremely painful and affecting my job and daily life. My visit with Dr. Seltzer was short and sweet. I really went in to get professional clearance to start participating in athletic activity again after a minor knee sprain. I feared that he might try to milk the injury to get a few more visits out of me, but he was both very thorough in his examination and honest that I could continue doing some therapy on my own. I went to Lifestyle Therapy in order to get treatment for my shoulders, which were consistently tight and really easily strained when exercising - making moving my arms feel stiff and sometimes painful. Sharon worked with me for a few months and was really knowledgeable and professional in helping alleviate my shoulder issues. Sharon Josephs at Lifestyle PT was *incredibly* helpful for me. Earlier this year, I decided to take up running for the first time since basic P.E. in high school. My first couple of runs went okay, but when I tried to go longer or faster, I was hit with awful knee pain that left me limping for hours afterwards. I thought I might have had some past injury that would prevent me from ever really being able to run, but decided to visit Lifestyle since it's near my office. Sharon was super friendly and was extremely thoughtful about diagnosing the issues over the course of the session. She walked me through numerous flexibility tests, reformer stretches, a test run on a treadmill, etc. Vitally, she also provided me with a set of four simple stretches to repeat every night, and some form tips as well. I was ready for a longer recovery process, but after a test run just 3 days of stretches, I found that my knee pain had 100% disappeared. I was honestly shocked that the solution could have been so simple! It's been about 3 months since my visit, and I'm completely pain-free and running faster & longer than I ever expected to be. This place is the best! I have herniated discs in my back ( L4 L5 S1 ) and Matt and Sharon have been lifesavers. When I initially started with lifestyle my back pain was crippling, and I could barely tie my shoes without huge amounts of pain, but now I wake up and have a spring in my step! With Matt, we typically do some manual work and he leads me through great stretches and strengthening exercises to keep my core strong and limber, and is always willing to listen when I want to try something new. He's kept the exercises fresh so I don't get bored doing them. Sharon has made me a believer in Pilates workouts, they are incredibly difficult despite them not looking so, and I always feel refreshed after a session with Sharon on the reformer machine. Also, lifestyle has always been flexible with my schedule which has allowed me to come in around my work times as well. Matt is hands down the best physical therapist I've ever worked with -- and my tally is near 10 now. I came to him after hip surgery to repair a broken femur. I was on crutches, unable to walk. He worked patiently and thoroughly with me over several months, employing his good humor and extensive knowledge to guide me through the pain and difficulty of building mobility and strength. Even when he had multiple patients to juggle, I always felt he gave me his full attention when I needed it. And unlike some other therapists I've seen, he didn't "watch the clock" and cut off our sessions at a certain time -- he ensured we finished the exercises I needed. Bottom line: I am certain that my recovery would have been less successful without Matt's intervention. I came here after an upper back injury had been plaguing me for months. I'd been going to another physical therapist and had plateaued in my recovery. He was extremely open that it was a tough injury and would take time to treat, but that we would work through it. I agree that Matt is one of the best PTs I've ever been to. I'm 68 years old and have been to many! His protocol with me was great. First, he applied a clay heat pack (that he got out of a steam cabinet) to my back. Then, I worked out on the bike for a short while to warm up overall, then Matt did hands-on "facilitated stretching" (also called assisted stretching). Then he monitored my exercises and added on new exercises. My best friend was a PT in Seattle, and she tells me that the most important thing in a PT is being "hands on" in the evaluation and treatment.
