However, learning also requires humility and a willingness to listen--especially when working on someone's natural hair. The student who worked on my hair, Tatum, seemed more interested in projecting confidence than listening to the person whose hair she was servicing. I have 4C natural hair and have specific goals for retaining length and minimizing breakage. I politely explained what works for my hair throughout the process, but my input was met with resistance rather than curiosity. At one point, she even asked if I had gone to cosmetology school because I was giving guidance about my own hair. After applying a demi-color, my hair was not thoroughly conditioned, which is an important step for my hair texture. During the blow-drying process, my hair was repeatedly brushed while dry, causing unnecessary breakage that could have been minimized by properly detangling and conditioning it at the shampoo bowl first. Instead of focusing on technique, there seemed to be more attention given to casual conversation. What disappointed me most was the lack of instruction from the supervising staff. A cosmetology school should be a place where students are actively taught how to work with all hair textures, including tightly coiled 4C hair. Supervisors should be demonstrating, correcting techniques, and encouraging students to listen to clients who know their own hair. My recommendation to Ogle School is to strengthen the training of both students and supervisors when it comes to textured hair. Every client deserves to feel heard, and every future cosmetologist should graduate with the skills and humility to care for all hair types--not just the ones they are most familiar with. I truly hope this feedback is taken constructively because there is an opportunity to improve the learning experience for both students and clients.

When she graduated PK in 2023-2024 class. She made amazing friends in that class and going into public school, she was leaps and bounds ahead. Her teachers were amazed and commended her PK teacher for preparing her so well. The staff, administrators and teachers care about their students and they try to make learning very engaging. She experienced music and art and computers and be able to tell me about how the self portrait was in the style after Picasso. Ms. Nazima herself is a jewel and should never be let go at all costs because she loves kiddos like they are her own. The extra events and parties that Creme holds are also very special and fun. The Halloween party was so much fun we all still talk about it. I highly recommend them. We also have really enjoyed the second year of Camp Champ in the summer.

The student to teacher ratio is ideal; on average, there are about 10 kids in each class. His previous school had 800 students in his whole class. At Newman, he has about 60 students in his entire class. Newman really is private school experience without the expense. Teachers are very genuine; it's really about the kids. My son's GPA went from 2.3 to a 3.4. He is involved in sports just as he was at his previous school with the exception that he is actually being coached. It's refreshing.

I highly recommend Paul Mitchell to anyone looking to further their education and pursue a career in the beauty industry. My time there gave me hands-on experience with all different types and textures of hair, while also teaching me professionalism, confidence, communication, and what it truly takes to succeed in this industry. One of the biggest things I would tell future students is that your education is what you make of it. Paul Mitchell gives you the educators, resources, opportunities, and hands-on experience, but you have to be willing to show up, ask questions, practice, make mistakes, and keep learning. Take advantage of every opportunity, don't be afraid to step outside your comfort zone, and don't compare your journey to anyone else's. I attended this school for 8 months, in those 8 months I had 5 different teachers. Due to people being fired, quitting, and constantly changing our schedule & "rules" I luckily already had a decent knowledge about the field I was going to school for, but I feel deeply sorry for the other girls that I graduated alongside, because this experience and education was below subpar. The bathrooms, clinics, classrooms, laundry room, and break room are all EXTREMELY dirty, ALL OF THE TIME. Every single day the bathroom would be trashed and so nasty that we can't even use it. Clumps of hair throughout all the hallways, dirty stained sheets and headbands (that we use for the guests). Break room tables are so sticky that if you sit something on the table to eat, it will stick. One time there was purple hair dye in a trash can in the laundry room, and instead of changing out the bag every day, the janitor would throw away the contents of the trash. So the same purple trash bag has been in there for months and probably still is there... Most of the staff there are extremely unprofessional and unpleasant. There are a few people that would look out, but for the most part, the teachers and staff made me feel miserable. The front desk woman is EXTREMELY rude, unhelpful, argumentative and unprofessional. She would constantly get attitudes with us, roll her eyes at us, ask us "what do you want me to do"? She makes the students and clients uncomfortable... I've had more than one client tell me that they wouldn't come back due to the customer service You can ask all of the staff the same exact question, and no matter who you ask you will be given a different answer. You could ask a question about a school policy and you'll still be getting a different answer from everybody. They make clients wait at the front for 30-45 minutes sometimes before we get to them and have all of our paperwork signed. If I'm a client somewhere and I'm waiting for more than 15 minutes, I'm gonna walk out the door... MOST IMPORTANTLY, It you do attend your make sure you are studying for your state board written exam as much as you can. There are lots of online resources and study guides available. In the whole entire eight months that I went there we went over written exam ONE time. And the one you take for Paul Mitchell (a mock exam with 100 Questions) the teachers will tell you it's OK to just use ChatGPT for the answers... I do not recommend at all. Over these last months, my daughter's cooking skills have really blossomed. She's been doing great with listening and following directions, as well as cooking skills such as safely cutting food and measuring ingredients. Every month there are different themes as well. It's wonderful thing to watch your child prepare and cook the food, and then at the end watch them eat happily and proudly that something was made by their own two hands. It was 90 minutes long which included time to eat their cooked creations. My daughter loved the experience so well that she asked for her next birthday to be there. For this age group, the made pizza from scratch and decorated a cupcake. Just as a heads-up, only two parents are allowed in the kitchen at a time, but parents can watch through the big window the whole time.

If you wear a non normal fashion they will target you and follow you around in the mornings to make sure you don't have anything thats not allowed in dress code. The rules are made up. by the teachers half the time It says so in the student handbook. Most teachers were great but the disciplinary department is so awful. If you want your kids to cry every night because they don't think they're good enough then send them here. She actually whispered "box" to me. I will not ever be going back and feel that along with teaching the kids how to do hair, they should provide the example of what service should look like.
