We needed to update 10 metal framed windows and a sliding patio door. The house was built by my parents in 1978. I was surprised that many of the windows were single paned. I had a bad leak on one of our windows last year during a storm and contacted Life-time to get a quote to replace 2 windows. Got a quick reply and a initial estimate that I liked. Mike came out took a look and took measurements and said that whomever installed the windows previously had not done them right...although not wrong, and I had a very specific look/installation requests regarding the new trim around windows. He said there may be a little more work involved and I asked how that would effect the cost and he said he quotes at the higher range in case something like this happens and there would be no change to original quote. Mike was amazing! I purchased a basic sliding door from contractors warehouse. Big mistake. Mike took one look at it and said you don't want this one. He explained the energy ratings on the glass (.46)!!! and pointed out the bowed top plate and recommended switching to a better quality door. He kept my budget in mind and found me a better door the next day. He could have just ignored the bad quality of the first one and installed it but he was looking out for my well-being. My small house would have had no UV protection and baked in the direct heat. The rough opening was a bit off so he went above and beyond to get everything plumb and level and then beautifully trimmed.
