Turns out that I found the unit when packing my mother's things before moving her to assisted living. She has dementia so she probably forgot to set up the service yet she still paid it every month. Again, it's suspicious that the company still charged her monthly though surely they would know whether she had activated service or not. I still think elders should be careful when dealing with this company because unethical companies and individuals have no shame in exploiting vulnerable elders. read more

I would give it a zero if possible. I purchased this watch and upon reciept of it I carefully followed all directions in the package. once activated it worked for approximately 4 hours before going completely dark. all attempts to restore it which included deleting and resinstalling the app, following the troubleshooting directions it failed to restart or work. I contacted "Jamie" via email who stated that I needed to video the issue. I demanded instructions for the return of the item and a full refund. that was 4 days ago. no response to any emails which I have sent daily requesting where the item is to be returned to. next step will be a BBB complaint. in my humble opinion, total garbage and doesn't live up to the hype and their customer service is far from service. read more

Purchased this watch in August and although I had to charge it often it operated reasonably until right after Thanksgiving when it would not work or charge. Contacted the company and was told the warranty was expired !! Only 4 months and the watch stops working - was told I should have gotten a warranty!! I was not offered this option at time of purchase!! I was advised to obtain another charger - which I did - this did not fix the problem!! I am aware that this company provides service for elderly people who are not able to get to a telephone to call 911 for emergency services (be it the police, firefighters and/or paramedics). My husband bought the equipment, hooked it up according to their instructions and then called the customer service representative to see what else needed to be done. Customer service rep gave him the okay to push the button to activate and test the equipment. She then proceeded to tell him when a third party comes on the phone line, we were to tell the person we were only testing the equiqment. The third party never came on the phone for our response. The customer service rep thought things were done and she hung up on us. I believe that this type of call should have been a three-way conference call among this business, the fire department/paramedics and the customers to verify and confirm that this was only testing of the equipment. The three-way conference call should have been initiated by Lifewatch USA Medical Alarms. Instead what happened next was I hear sirens in the distance (outside). It was quite embarrassing to have the Alameda Fire Department and its paramedics unit to come down my block to see what the emergency was. The only thing I could do was profusely apologize as my husband and I were testing the Lifewatch equipment. I felt so bad because I did not want the firefighters and the paramedics think and feel that I pulled a false alarm. If the City of Alameda bills us for this service, I will be contacting Lifewatch for reimbursement of charges we will be incurring and venting my complaints to somebody in a managerial position re: our dissatisfaction with the customer service. Meanwhile, they also sent us a senior grocery savings certificate. The instructions on that was to log on to www.seniorgrocerysavings.com, click "Join Now". Fill out the form and finally enter authorization and PIN number to start savings. I went on that website, but then there was a message below the browser window which stated "To help protect your security, Internet Explorer has blocked this website from displaying content with security certificate errors." I will heed the aforementioned quoted statement and not log on, only to face the possibility of some serious risk factors later. read more

I wish I could give these people minus stars. They never answer their customer service line, never return a call. Even Chase was unable to get through . Looking their number up on the internet is an exercise in getting the run around. The number listed here is the number gotten by Google is of another company. When you call that number, the person responding claims no knowledge of your account or even of this company. The number on my credit card statement is not a complete phone number. Chase had to dig into its records for a complete number and when Chase attempted to reach them, Chase got a receding. But worse than that is the fact that their service is completely unreliable. I tried testing the system and the response was hold on and you will be connected to emergency service but no one came on after five minutes or so. Lifewatch USA alos known as MEDWatchUSA scammed my parents out of money. They sent the equipment to the house. There was not technician to install the equipment which is a problem for the elderly. I sent the equipment back and Lifewatch USA. When I spoke to the customer service they said the account never got activated since the equipment was not up and running. However Lifewatch USA did activate the account and have been charging my parents for their service for months which was never up and running. This company scams the elderly out of money. The support is lacking since they have no field technicians to install the equipment properly. They rely on the elderly to install it themselves. Sending back the equipment does not get you out of the service. Please do your research online and you will find poor reviews for Lifewatch USA (MEDwatchUSA.com). What a terrible company. Was prescribed by my doctor to wear a heart monitor for 2 weeks. For the 1st three times I tried to call and active the monitor I was told it wasn't possible because their systems were down. Really? Your company is called Life Watch and you have system outages for that long? Subsequent tries had me abandon calls due to extended holds for over an hour. Once finally able to active the cell phone style monitor stopped working and won't even now take a charge. Absolutely unreliable. read more

I recently moved my dad and returned the equipment (which did not work) to the address on box and website. I called today to cancel the auto-billing, they claim the address was incorrect and would charge me $300 for lost equipment (stating they are no longer there). After arguing with a "supervisor" who assured me this would go into collection if unpaid I stated I would dispute the charge through my bank and good luck billing me. He shouted at me over the phone and only agreed to close the account after I promised to post negative reviews based on my experience. Using spoofed telephone numbers to make marketing calls. Violating the Do-Not-Call list. Hanging up when questioned. Spoofed number does not allow you to call back to be removed from their list. I trusted that your equipment was protecting my mother and come to find out when I pushed the button for help yesterday she was not even registered. A woman from a different dispatch center answered and told us to call lifewatch directly. I was told it would take 2 weeks to get new equipment. I found out that the equipment has not worked for months even though we were paying. I am requesting a refund. You left a 92 year old woman without protection then took her money. I immediately tried one of your competitor and they came out today with equipment that worked. I am appalled by this company. Two days after my father died, Lifewatch somehow obtained my parent's phone number. I'm sure they realized that a new widow would be easy prey. A pushy sales person selling a medical alert device, persuaded my mother to give her VISA card number over the phone. As my mother is almost blind, the salesperson waited as she placed the VISA card under her giant magnifier, and read the number aloud. A few days later, the medical alert device arrived in the mail. When I called to cancel, they informed me the device cost $450 and they would bill my mother if she didn't send it back. Luckily we found a more reputable company to provide my mother with a medical alert pendant. read more

These people called and talked to my sister, who lives with our 87 year old dad (early stages of Alzheimer's). After listening to their sales pitch and explaining the situation, she said no thanks and please remove our number from your list. They must have called back and caught my dad by the phone, talked him into giving them his debit card number and BINGO they charged him $34.95 immediately. He only has that card because he still likes to use it at the grocery store when we take him shopping - helps him feel he still has a little independence. There's only $75/week that goes in there, and now half of it is gone. I've called them three times but "their lines are busy" and after holding I was advised to call another time. read more

Surprised and disappointed about the lack of professionalism and compassion from your staff. My father in law had just passed away and I called to cancel service. Said they couldn't do it until the equipment was sent back. They were rude and short with me and would not respond to my specific situation. I was canceling my phone service and didn't want the phone to alert and 911 to be called. They said this would never happen. I watched it happen one night when the modem for the phone had been unplugged accidentally. 911 was called. Here is what I wanted them to say... "We are sorry your father in law passed away. Stay away. They deceive you into a 24 month contract that is not refundable upon death. My mom was 6 months into device upon death and when I called them for a partial refund on the prepaid 12 months, they told me I would have to pay them $350 to get out of the contract. My 85 year old mother ordered this equipment and didn't tell her children that she had it and that she needed help setting it up. One year later, LifeWatch calls the house and I answered the phone. They had been charging my mother's credit card for over a year knowing that the equipment was not installed or being monitored. The only reason they called was because the credit card she used expired at the end of July. Of course when I talked to them, they put the blame on my mother for not following through with them. I had service with this company for almost 2 years, well in September 2014 I canceled service and sent back the box by USPS, got a tracking number, thought I was over and done. These ass holes have been taking 35.00 out of my checking every month since, Most people are like me ( Live pay check to pay check every month) so after I pay my bill's each month I'am broke until the next. anyway everytime they try to take the 35.00 and moneys are not there my bank charges me 29.00 these bastards have done this 3 times now and put me in the negative with my bank, now it's 2015. I looked at my checking account again today they have done it again. I have called several times to Lifewatchusa spending countless time on hold, Today I got to rep told him the problem I have been having with them and my bank account. So I gave him the USPS tracking number that I had already lookup before I called LW USPS showed online that Angel Agoute signed for it on Septmeber 11th 2014 @ 11: 45 am. The Lifewatchusa rep said that tracking number was not a good number. and that he would email his supervisior this information and that I could call back Monday to check on this. Be careful if you have an older relative with Alzheimers or dementia. This company's representative called my 86 year old aunt who has dementia and must have told her she needed this alarm system. No one in the family knew anything about it until I took over as her Power of Attorney 2 months ago and I found a charge showing up every month on her credit card. I asked family members if they knew anything about it and no one knew what it was for. I called the number on the credit card bill for the company who's charge it was and got a nasty customer service representative on the line who told me that the equipment had been sent out and it didn't matter how it was ordered. She told me that they would stop the billing when they received their equipment back. I asked her what it looked like, but she hung up on me. For the last 2 months, I have been hunting around my aunt's house for this "alarm system". Finally, one of my cousins found this very small box (8.5"x5.75"x1.625") with a piece of masking tape on one side that read EZ CARE MEDICAL DEVICE. Upon opening the box, we found what we believe to be the alarm system. This morning I called their customer service number (on credit card bill) and that customer service representative couldn't find my aunt's account. She told me I would have to call another number. When I called that number, it was immediately apparent that the phone was being answered by an off-shore service. I could barely understand what the girl on the phone was saying. After much back-and-forth, I was finally able to get an address to send this 'thing' back to them. When I asked about the fraudulent manner in which this service was billing every month, she avoided anything to help me find out how to get the credit card charges reversed. At that point she really wouldn't answer me and just kept telling me that they would stop billing when they received the equipment back to them. I would avoid this company AT ALL COSTS! Their dealings are acquired in a fraudulent manner and their customer service is horrible. I doubt I will ever see any monies returned to my aunt. Stay away from them! read more

My doctor order a device from them. It never worked. It took 3 phone calls to try to get it activated, and at the end I was told it did not work because I needed a landline. I held on to the device until I could get back into my doctor to see what he suggested, because I couldn't get it to work. Lifewatch didn't offer any help. Ultimately we decided to not go with the test, since my other tests were normal. 2 days after it would have been the normal time to give the device back I find a Final notice in the mail that I owe them $300 for device because I didn't return it, and if I didn't pay them within 7 days they would turn my account over to collections. This is 2 days after the 30 days for the device was up, mind you. I double checked my phone records, email, and mail. There was nothing from Lifewatch indicating a first notice. I then tried to reach lifewatch, again, to sort it out. I left a message with no follow up call. I also filled out the email. I'm hoping this thing ships out, and I never have to deal with this company again. My advice their stuff doesn't work, and their customer service is terrible. I'd stay away. read more

Do not order anything from Lifewatch USA. As someone who has seen the way things work there, they charge customers early when they need money. They try to get the latest equipment, but sadly, the latest equipment has many issues. The technology has not had the time to catch up with the functionality. As a home based unit, plugged into your landline, it can work, but there are less expensive options that provide more. They also try to lock you into a contract, which they will make you pay the remainder of no matter the circumstances. Go with Life Alert, or Great Call, or 5 Star, all units that work in and outside the home, no contracts, and much better reliability. The 3rd parties that Lifewatch uses are terrible and rarely call the family members on the contact sheet. They were also recently purchased by a company called Safe Home security, which, if you google, has many complaints. Safe Home provides no training for their staff, and with a clientele of over 100,000, they only have 10-12 people working customer service at any given time. Every aspect of the business is to pinch pennies and cut corners. Do your research and do not trust a loved one's life to LifeWatch. read more
