Review for Safe House Smoke Shop in Coconut Grove I have…read morebeen a regular customer of Safe House in Coconut Grove for some time, typically visiting after work. I purchase products there consistently and spend at least $500 per month at the store. A few days ago, upon completing a purchase and leaving the premises, I realized I had forgotten a lighter. I returned inside and politely asked if I could use one to light my product before heading home. The employee, Justin, informed me that he was not permitted to assist in this manner and that I would need to purchase a lighter. He then lectured me, stating that I needed to "think before and be a little more organized." As a nearly 40-year-old individual with a family and significant professional responsibilities, I found this condescending tone unnecessary and disrespectful, particularly toward a longstanding, high-value customer. Justin further mentioned that he had been "very patient" with me in the past, citing the four occasions on which I had used the store's grinder. As I was exiting, he raised his voice and directed my attention to a sign regarding not blocking the entrance. My bicycle was parked on the other side of the sign and was not obstructing the doorway or impeding access for anyone. The escalation in volume and overall demeanor were inappropriate and unprofessional. I contacted the store the following day to speak with a manager regarding this incident. I was informed that Justin is the manager and that he had already discussed the matter with the owner, who reportedly found no issue with his conduct. While the other employees have consistently been courteous and helpful, making the store an otherwise pleasant location to visit, the behavior exhibited by the manager was unacceptable. No customer, regardless of the situation, should be subjected to lecturing, yelling, or disrespectful treatment. Such conduct reflects poorly on the establishment and its management standards. Due to this experience, I will not be returning to Safe House or continuing to support the business with my patronage. I recommend that the ownership review the security footage of the incident to verify the details described.
