The new lamps still looked great and after 3 years, we have not had a problem with them. That convinced us to take the old lamps to them to be gussied up as they were showing their age after 25 years. They came back looking good. The main complaint is service at the store front. They don't appear to keep regular hours, but that may be due to the staff appearing to be one man. If you can deal with that, the quality of work is great.

I love this place!!…read more I went in to get a weird halogen bulb for my desk lamp. Not only did they have it for under $2, but I felt like I found a hidden gem in my neighborhood hiding in plain sight. It has all sorts of lighting fixtures and lighting supplies, but it also has home decor, gifts, candles, mirrors, and lots of cool things crammed in between. I had been thinking about replacing a hanging light in my kitchen. They have lots of catalogs full of even more options than their overstuffed showroom, and the staff was super nice and helpful (HEY Phyllis!!), showed us a some catalogs once we described what we were looking for and took the time to color copy each page of the things we were interested in so we could go home and make the final decision. We placed the order and one week later the fixture came in and now my new kitchen lamp is ready to be hung up. They have a much better selection than the usual home improvement store selection, plus great customer service, and I know where to go next time I need a fun gift, too!

All these beautiful, iconic lamps are made in the city by Bevolo, which is the oldest and largest manufacturer of these hand-riveted copper lanterns. The company was founded in 1945 by Andrew Bevolo and is still a family-owned business. The copper is mined locally, and each lamp is expertly crafted by hand. You can watch the coppersmiths at work at their showroom located at 318 Royal Street, which is also a museum. Even though the gas lamps are their most popular sellers, they also make chandeliers & sconces. A few years ago, I ordered two of the Original French Quarter lanterns for my home in Los Angeles. Unfortunately, due to earthquakes I wasn't able to install the gas version, so I had to get electric. I was able to find light bulbs that replicate a flickering flame. The salespeople, Kayla Bossi & Brittnee Ulmer were friendly and helpful. My lanterns were carefully packed to protect against damage during shipping. The quality of the craftsmanship is superb. I absolutely love them. They make me smile when I walk in my front door because they remind me of my beloved city, New Orleans, where my heart lives.

Never happened. ! I called several days later to be told my salesperson is busy and would like to leave voicemail. I said I would not ! My previous voice mail was not returned. I needed to talk to her . She returned my call several hours later. I ask her about my faucet set and if it had come in ? She had forgotten all about it . Once she had my money she could care less . She had to call the business in Texas to check on it . She returned my call to tell me that it was still sitting on their que what ever that was and it would take several days to be processed and sent out . I informed her at this time I had not had running water in my kitchen for 2 weeks and her Comment was Oh My Goodness! Not I am sorry for not staying on top of this . Sorry that I did not return your call . My plumber happens to be Lenny's Plumbing on Transcontinental and when I call them they return my call in a reasonable amount of time . Their work is excellent and reasonable. I will never ever use Southland again because of that one sales person. She made me feel so insignificant and unimportant. Infact , I didn't need most of the parts according to my plumbers that installed the faucet and sprayer . They used their covers to plug the 2 holes I would not be needing .

The salesperson, Jody, after searching and realizing he didn't have what I needed, suggested another lighting store and even called to prevent me from making a blank trip. After that store didn't have it either, he suggested going online. I did find the bulbs online and am thankful to Jody for saving me wasted trips and lots of time.
