I live near them and they make a lot of noise very early in the morning. They often hold up the traffic on Tchoupitoulas.

Moulding & Millwork and Supply is a phenomenal immersive design shop for customer experience,…read moreselection, quality, and price. We went in on a Friday to the Showroom right as they were closing, and Anna allowed us to stay an extra hour longer while she was finalizing paperwork. Anna expertly answered our questions on customization, lead times, and design combinations for baseboards, casings, and crown molding. Anna even offered a venison treat to our dog too. As we were about to leave, our starter went out, and Frank and a few other gentlemen from the warehouse, who were getting off of work on a Friday, stayed late and helped to try to jump-start our vehicle and charge our battery before we could even put in a request for roadside assistance. We were waiting for the tow truck company, and it started to get dark; the owner, David, came out and asked if we were okay, asked if we needed to use the restroom, and ensured we felt safe. David even offered to stay late to guarantee we were not left alone at night. Millwork & Molding and Supply is in a safe location with a fantastic selection. We will be outfitting our downstairs from floor to ceiling with their molding for an elegant aesthetic, factors less than the run-of-the-mill stock at Home Depot or Lowe's. I highly recommend Millwork & Molding and Supply to any individual, contractor, designer, or developer; a true gem of a company, product, and experience with wonderful people!

If you are looking for something special that everyone else doesn't sell, and appreciate specialized help with design, I would recommend you check Stafford.

As a practicing architect for over 35 years, my office has worked with tile/stone suppliers…read morethroughout the US and Europe After selecting a French pattern travertine at Stafford Tile for our own home, we requested samples of all of the tile sizes. Months later, I had to point out that the pieces were not finished the same. Only at this point, they admitted to using different suppliers for the already purchased stone. Noting, it was an unacceptable material and should not have been sold. They offered only one replacement. However, it was a darker color, so we had to adjust the design, other materials and colors selected months previously. Then there were delays in the delivery and once it arrived about 1/3 of the cartoons contained cracked pieces. Stafford counted 39 bundles containing at least one damaged tile. The frustration continued and due to a great installer we utilized some of the damaged pieces at my cost for additional labor. There was a lack of understanding and assistance by Stafford, and they refused to pick up the remaining damaged material. I thought a professional interaction could occur, but their General Manager was rude and inaccurate with her statements. In the end, the material was a compromise, created additional costs to the Client/Architect and a very frustrating experience.

Dufrene Building Materials is a solid option for lumber on the westbank besides the big box guys…read more The prices are comparable and quality to them as well. They offer delivery for big buys at a good rate but if you are only buying a few hundred of items, its better to do it yourself. That process is kinda wonky if you havent done it before, so that is what I going to outline for you so you look like a pro instead of a bumbling dummy like I did. 1. You park in front of the building, not the side past the guard shack 2. When you enter the store, the large service counter to your immediate right is where you pay for everything and where you order lumber. Looks like a will call area since the are sitting down and it seems like you are peering down into someones office space. 3. After you pay, they give you the receipt stapled to a large pink sheet. They will tell you to drive around to pick it up. 4. When you back up, drive to the guard shack, that guy will check the pink sheet, possibly radio the next guy. They will tell you to drive on. Drive in and keep going, even if you see the area where the items you have to pick up are obviously stacked, till you see someone that works there holding a bunch of paper work and a radio. Give him your sheet and he will tell you where to go next. Right back to the pile you passed. 5. Park and wait for him to show up with a fork lift. They will load it for you. But make sure you count that there is enough. 6. When you are fully loaded, you must stop at the guard shack again. That guy will recheck your load against the pink sheet again and tell you that you can go. Thats it :-) If you skip a step or do them out of order like I did (they dont tell you any of this inside even when asked) you will be waiting a long time or made to drive in circles. They also sell sell hardware, plumbing, crawfish pots, generators , etc. Give them a shot, its like a old fashioned hardware store inside, but a mega big box lumber yard outside.
