Fun way to be immersed in the art of Vincent Van Gogh. After going through a mirrored gallery of his iconic paintings, you will be ushered into a large open area where his art will surround you. Nice to see so many famous images. Get transported to the "Cafe Terrace at Night". Bask in the "Tulip Fields in Holland." Visit the "Roofs in Paris" or the "Windmills of Montmontre." Enjoy the "Blue Irises" and the field of wildflowers, vases of "Sunflowers" and Japanese "Almond Blossoms." And of course, relax under the sky of a "Starry Night." Bring a cushion to sit on the floor or grab a bench if you are lucky. Watch the immersive art installation from different directions. There is also a VIP experience which includes a thin cushion, a sunflower and a poster, but it does not offer much additional. They do honor military discounts for tickets and the gift shop. The standard cost for an adult ticket is about 35.00 and fora Vip ticket is about 55 for early times.The ticket prices do increase up to peak showings.We decided to go with the Vip tickets to see if there were extra things included with the experience. Once inside you are completely surrounded by Amazing masterpieces of Van Gogh.Every one in our group actually enjoyed the exhibition especially my grandson.Overall the show had lasted about 35-45 minutes. A bit pricey for 35 minutes. I did NOT purchase a VIP ticket thank goodness. We were told ours was a timed ticket when we purchased, but actually you can stay as long as you'd like. There are a few benches to sit on, but not so comfy. The floor was fine, I'm just pregnant and needed to move spots. Some people had the VIP ticket and had cushions, but they were not even sitting on them. I'd stick with the basic ticket and. Don't blow any more money. I was curious about what they do for elderly or handicapped, do they provide chairs for them? I hope so. The projection was cool and thank god people stayed quiet - like as if you were in a museum or movie theater. Employees were pleasant. Gift shop had pretty much anything you can get at the MFAH or any fine arts museum for that matter.but I guess some wouldn't know that. Lots of people were shopping. I guess I've been to too many museums around the world and even the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam to think this was "that cool". Should you go? I don't know. I am an art enthusiast since a young age. I took art history in both high school and college, so this exhibit was perfect for me. Art has really transformed from still pieces to completely being immersive and i am here for every bit of it! It's my love and passion- being a creator and seeing people create wonderful things. This exhibit left me wanting more. I love the entry way and the wall to wall immersive art of van gogh. Once you go through mirrored hallway, there's another waiting room where the texas sign is and the mirrored quotes with information about van gogh. Then you enter a big open space with seating that has a 35 min loop of Van Gogh's life/pieces of art. The music/ambiance yields to a more mature crowd, seemed perfect for dates! I do wonder how kids would like this experience! I will try the other van gogh exhibit with my kids since i did hear it's more interactive. read more

Came on a Sunday morning with my parents. The exhibit is a 40 minute show with projectors and lights showing Van Gogh pieces in a variety of ways, mostly by taking the classic still images and incorporating motion. Everyone sits/stands in the circles on the ground while the images are projected on all four walls and the ground. There is music that plays in the background while the show is going on. I was honestly underwhelmed by this exhibit. The images and music are nice, but there's no commentary or explaining any of the artwork. The tickets are expensive, starting at around $50 per person for non-peak times and without the VIP upgrade, so I was expecting something more exciting. I was also very distracted by people coming in and going out from the room while the show was going on. There is another exhibit of a very similar name in a different location that is touring across the country while this one is of Houston origin. I have not been to the other one so don't know what it's like. read more

It was a bit pricey for what it was but I am still glad we went. They required masks and you had to sit on the floor unless you were lucky enough to snag a bench. It truly was stunning and I felt it told a beautiful story. We did not purchase VIP and am glad we didn't. From what we saw, that group did not seem to receive any additional perks but did get a free poster and cushion to sit on. We bought 4 beautiful canvas type hardback notebooks that came in wooden boxes from the gift shop for $34-36 which seemed fair. Individual pricing for one was more than the cost of 4... so keep that in mind. There were 4 prints. read more

I thought that the presentation was pretty wonderful but I think that the marketing wasn't. There wasn't a need to up-spend on the VIP pricing. There are benches that you can sit on or if you have a cushy butt just sit on the floor. The entire presentation is only about 35 minutes long. We watched it twice facing different directions as was recommended but wasn't different. The other thing with the VIP, if you are going as a couple, each person gets the same gift. Why you need two of the same thing is beyond me. That was something they should have thought through better. read more

First there are two Van Gogh exhibits going on in Houston at the same time. The photos on this Yelp listing has a mixture of both. This is for the smaller exhibit being run by Fever on the Katy Freeway by Dave and Buster. The other one is off I-10 and Wescott. The one I attended there was carpet on the floor not concrete. I think they are both pretty neat. I do thing the larger one might be a tad bit better. I was grateful how the staff kept asking people to put on a mask. I even saw one giving people mask. This was the first activity I have done with so many people in over a year. Worth a visit but do note there are two. I think this one may stick around for a bit where the other one is leaving in January. read more

It's totally not worth the $50 it cost to sit on the floor and watch the video. I am trying to make this seem worth the money they are charging, but I cant. It is a 35 minute film on a continuous loop projected in a warehouse, with minimal effort expended making said warehouse into a projection worthy space--exit doors with lights etc on the walls--you get to watch a 35 minute film animated Van Gogh's art. That's the experience. You can sit on the concrete floor, or fight for a bench when one comes open. read more

This is a great exhibit! I've been fortunate to visit the Van Gogh museum in Amsterdam, so this immersive exhibit was something special. It illustrates some of Van Gogh's most beautiful paintings in ways that bring the art to life. It's a very large room with appropriate social distancing marked with circles. There are benches in some of the circles but other spots are meant for standing or sitting on the ground--just a heads up if you have back issues or cannot sit on the ground for long periods of time. I would recommend buying early tickets (10AM) if you want to ensure a bench spot. The 35-min immersive experience runs in a loop, so you can come and go as you please once you've entered the room. Also, FYI: Be sure you buy the correct tickets and show up to correct Van Gogh site. A couple behind us in line had tickets to a different Van Gogh exhibit and showed up for this immersive experience--they had to drive to the other (different) exhibit. There are currently multiple Van Gogh exhibits, so just be mindful of which one you want to see. This is an artsy experience that we truly enjoyed. And had we just bought normal tickets, it would've been great. We bought the VIP package, and it's definitely not worth it. Still had to sit on the floor while others had chairs/benches (thanks for the thin cushion though) and then the site made it seem like there was VR experience, but when we asked about it while there they said "that's at another location". So we spent an extra $40 a ticket just to get a cushion and a poster... Save your money, buy a normal ticket. Enjoy the show. read more

A bit pricey for the experience that was provided. To sum up the experience, there is a 35 minute looped video that is projected on all 4 walls of a room, floor to ceiling. Different pieces of Van Gogh are then transitioned from one to another with accompanying music. The large viewing room consists of several benches and identified spots on the floor where attendees can sit. If you have a VIP ticket, you get a cushion and a foldable wooden chair to sit in. The art display was beautiful, without a doubt. Seeing all the colors burst to fill the room did add to the immersive factor. If you're a big fan of Van Gogh and can recognize many of his pieces, it definitely is exciting. After the show ends, you have the option to stay to rewatch or leave when you please. Immediately when you walk out, you encounter the gift shop with many cool items. There's also a photo op right before you leave, and right in front of the building entrance. For the price of the tickets, I would have expected a bit more interactive exhibits, or at least more activities or things to see to make the experience feel longer. Saw Immersive Monet at this location. We enjoyed it, but...For the price, I'd really expect a bit more. Basically it's a big room where Monet and other impressionist works of art are assembled, morphed, animated to music in a 35 minute loop. Come and go as you wish. There are some folding chairs or cushions for a upcharge, or just wait until one of the handful of benches free up. It really is a better experience if you are in one of the corner seats, not looking over a bunch of other people, so be patient and get a corner. You exit thru a gift shop. There's a small bar and outside seating - for evening I would imagine, because it's wide open, no shade and blazing hot during the day. Don't bother with the upcharge and go non-peak if you can make the time to go during the day. read more

This was truly an awesome EXPERIENCE! There's really no other word I could use to describe this exhibition of Vincent Van Gogh's full body of work. I'm no art critic or generally interested in art history but I enjoyed learning more than "Starry Night" about the artists life. I came by an interest in Van Gogh kind of sideways..by way of Doctor Who ;) there's an episode when the Doctor and Amy Go back in time and meet the artist. I'm a fan of the Doctor and that's one of my favorite episodes. I bought a Starry Night print for my bedroom since my husband introduced me to the Doctor Who fandom! Great experience, It was completely different from what I was expecting Saw pictures online, I thought it would be an exhibit, with different sections and pieces with visual effects but this is a giant room with just visuals. The walls are animated and there are lights that project onto the floor, making you immerse yourself into the art. Limited chairs and seating so if they run out of chairs you must sit on the floor. The video is on a 40 minute loop that just continues, you can stay as long as you want. The exhibit itself was beautiful. As was the music. The way it was run...not so much. They have circles you are supposed to sit it. Well there were people standing in them which blocked the view of the people sitting. There were also toddlers running around screaming which killed the vibe. If you are going to bring your little kids to something they are not going to understand at least parent your children to not ruin everyone else's experience around you. I think there should be a minimum age limit, or the staff should do something to control obnoxious kids and their neglectful parents. read more

My friend and I bought tickets thinking we were going to the exhibit at Edwards Marquee. After some research, we realized there are two separate competing exhibits in town with very similar names. This one is apparently the same one featured in Emily in Paris. Tickets were expensive. I believe we paid $60 and we had the two hour delayed entry where we could go up to two hours after the time printed on our ticket. I was expecting it to be similar to other art installations like Color Factory or Candytopia where you go into various rooms that replicated the art (similar to the Van Gogh exhibit at MFAH a few years ago), but it's much more simplistic. At the entry, you walk down the corridor featuring some of Van Gogh's famous art. Then you enter the immersive room where the 36 minute video plays. There was a warning for people with sensory sensitivity. I was thinking there would be strobe lights but it was the way the images moved throughout the room. All the walls and floor had projections. The ceiling was the only space that wasn't projected on. I thought I would be okay, but unfortunately any time the images moved up and down, it would make me very dizzy. I had to keep closing my eyes so I felt like I couldn't enjoy all of it. It was a similar feeling to reading a book while sitting in a moving vehicle. Not fun. The film and music were cool, but it was overpriced for what it was. We came in about 5 minutes after the video started, so we stayed for the next showing which was maybe a minute or two after it ended so we could see all of it from the start. Afterwards, we asked about the piece called "Head of a Skeleton with Burning Cigarette" because we had never seen it before. We asked the staff about it and you could tell they didn't know what it was called. They told us it was called "Smoking Skull" or something. We asked another question and the woman told us there was some information on the wall we could read. I like the art, but I also like to learn the history behind it, so that was disappointing. The exhibit is cool, but very overpriced. The competing exhibit at Edwards Marquee is cheaper and I believe there are more features besides projections on walls. If you're a fan of Van Gogh, it's definitely a neat exhibit to see, but just understand that you will be paying a lot of money for a bunch of projections. read more

I somewhat enjoyed the experience but it was definitely not worth the price. Each ticket was $54.99 plus tax and a service charge, so I bought 4 tickets for $266.08. My group and I showed up at 10:50 and waited in line for 15 minutes for the first showing which was at 11. The show had already started when we walked in. We sat on benches that were available. The show was basically a 30 minute projection of Van Gogh's art in a large room. The visuals were cool. There were long posters of snippets of Van Gogh's art outside the room, and that was it. There was nothing else except for the small gift shop. I'm torn about recommending it. I personally wouldn't go again to a similar show unless there was a deal on tickets. read more

A must visit. Really cool place to check out. Tons of history and 3D displays. Art and history really sticks out to you. It's a 30 minute walkthrough but we were here an hour enjoying the display. At the end of the art show there's a immersive display with audio to checkout with comfortable beanbags to sit on. Afterwards there's a drawing contest to have your art displayed. 10/10 would recommend. read more

Experiencing the beauty of any artwork on such a large scale is in itself worth seeing. It was just not worth the monies that were charged for it and not as fun as advertised, and I feel sorry for people who paid even more for VIP privileges, because it was not a grand difference of experience, as it was one room with every one sitting on the same floor or the few chairs provided. It was like the time I booked an airline flight and the row in front of me ended 1st class. If you, or someone you love are completely wowed by seeing a large image projected on a wall with powerpoint like transitionsl then this will be an amazing experience for you. If you were expecting to have a virtual reality type of engagement with the artwork or really getting to walk around and experience and see different aspects of the work this is not for you. If you want to stand in one spot, or test those knees and hips and sit on the floor for 35 minutes, then this is for you... if you are looking for more than 35 minutes or an opportunity to explore, walk around, talk, interact with the work, this is not for you. I think the price of the ticket should have been half of what was charged and that they should have been really clear about there not being a virtual reality part or other interactive immersive parts that were in the advertisements. What would have made it better? They limited the number of people that could go in to the show, so they should have just had seating for everyone or the majority, there's no reason why people should have had to sit on hard floors or stand. It was not the type of experience where you could walk around if you walked around you would have been obstructing other people and you would have been closing in the social distancing requirement so you had no choice but to stand in your glowing circle the entire time fixed to that spot. So in my summary, while it was good and I agree it was an experience, instead of leaving you with the feeling of getting to know Van Gogh's work with a deeper sense or really getting to experience the mind and creation of the work it was more like an expensive dizzying "hey is this it?" moment. read more

Almost 100$ a ticket to sit on a cold concrete floor in a small empty warehouse with the lights off surrounded by white walls being used to show a slide show on a constant loop with a playlist on constant loop. In the middle of each wall disrupting the "slideshow" were bright red EXIT lights reminding you that your sitting in a cold empty concrete room with the lights turned off. This was more of an event for you to take social media pics and tweet about "how you went to the Van Gogh Immersive Experience" versus having an actual experience. I would have much rather payed 180$ for two "vip" tickets to simply go to a Van Gogh exhibit at an art museum and be given a complimentary glass of sparkling wine. After seeing ads for this exhibit month after month on social media, I caved and booked a reservation. I regret doing so. This exhibit is nothing more than a 35 minute movie in a room with everyone sitting in an illuminated 3 foot diameter circle. Granted, the movie is projected onto all 4 walls of the room and the floor. The experience was nice, but not $100+ nice. After speaking to some friends about the exhibit, they all said the same thing: it is not worth the money. I expected something more "immersive" and interactive. read more

Not as advertised. We had 11:00 tickets and were inside the exhibit by 10:55 where we were told the show started 20 min ago. Why have showtimes? There was no where to stand. Forget social distancing which they are sooo proud of. We couldn't enjoy a thing shoved in the corner! Too many people, in and out! Did not look like the nice art gallery photos on the web site. Imagine about 10x -20x more people blocking everything and this is more of what is really happening. Just not possible to enjoy. Biggest waste of the 15 min we stayed. read more

If you love Van Gogh and experiencing a new forma of art come here! You sit down in a room and there is an exhibit that I projected around the whole room. It was absolutely beautiful and quite an experience. Personally I loved it, but you do sit on the floor and it is about 30-35 minutes. I don't mind but be aware! They do have a few seats out and they accommodate injury's, pregnancy's, or anything else If you are unable to sit on floor. Overall great for art lovers and perfect for a date. read more

I am not sure what to say! We ordered tickets back in April for a "FAMILY" event to this "experience." We had 12 people originally scheduled for October 6. As the time grew closer, in August, we were told they weren't going to be ready that soon, so we would have to choose another date. We had family flying in to celebrate a family birthday and go to this event. We asked for specific dates, but they could not accomodate us. As it turns out, nothing worked for all 12 of us, so 8 got refunds and only 4 of us, who live closer went to the event. It was a very disappointing "milestone" birthday for my husband, since this experience was suppose to have been the highlight of his birthday this year. There were 3 levels of tickets VIP, Premium Flex and Basic Timed. We bought the "basic timed" at first, but we were given 'Premium Flex tickets" ($75.00)instead of the "basic timed ticket" (49.00), when we were forced to pick another day. What we got for more money, was a cushion to rent for the time we were in the room viewing the art and a poster and flower at the end. We entered and went through a corridor of stained glass-like pictures of Van Gogh's work with mylar mirrors on the other side. We waited to get into the room but were given a 1 inch thick cushion, for the tokens we received for being "flex" ticket holders, but the other 2 we were with got "basic-timed" (less expensive tickets) and also had a token for a cushion to sit on the floor. The cushions were covered in a Van Gogh inspired theme. I can't sit on the floor well due to some health issues, so I brought a small camp stool to sit on, but had to return it to the car because they didn't let in "outside seating" and was told there were stools and chairs for sitting. When I got inside, none were available, so I had to sit on the floor. There are lighted circles on the floor app. 4-6 feet apart from each other and in some were padded benches for 2 and/or 2 white chairs or nothing. The music was well matched with the paintings and the "come alive" feeling of the paintings was absolutely rich and beautiful. We eventually got a bench to sit on and we finished the show from there. We saw the media on all the walls and the floor, but not the ceiling. It was app. 45 minutes long and when we left, when we turned in our cushions, we got a poster and a sunflower and so did our companions with the less expensive tickets. On another note, one of our family was in Milwaukee and walked into a showing of the same experience, approximately 10 days ago. We compared notes and she was treated to panels, as she was walking in, on the history of Van Gogh...his birth and birthplace, his brother, his different periods of painting, the places he painted and the influences in his painting. She also had a room, or maybe it was 2 to experience the majesty of his artwork. It was fully immersive, floor, ceiling, walls and even on columns that were in the room. Her experience lasted app. 20 minutes longer or so and was only a few dollars more, around $50.00. I'm not sure if it's one company or more than 1 but for the money, the experience we had (and I took a consensus of the 4 of us) was not worth it. Especially since there was no history about him at ours whatsoever. I am a bit of an art historian and I love Van Gogh, so I know a bit about him and his life and I filled everyone in after we left. 1) There should be the history displayed for you to read about Vincent Van Gogh and his life 2) They need to have chairs or benches in EVERY circle. 3) They need to drop the price. read more

Visually stimulating experience. The symbolic nature of this moving art exhibit kept your attention throughout the colorful presentation, however, I was surprised there wasn't more sunflowers represented ?
