Had a great time! Visited from Jersey and what better than a tour of Downtown. The staff were super friendly and informative. We spent some time at the gift shop and it was very nice and cozy. The tour was about 90 minutes and it was a very reasonable price. You do have the option to be downstairs on the bus or upstairs. It was pretty chilly out but we made it work and they provide blankets. Overall, I had a great experience and would recommend. What a fun tour! I read the not so positive reviews and honestly, if you know ahead of time what you are walking into, there shouldn't be any issues! First off and my favorite part was the tour guide Ben; he was so personable and funny! I learned a lot about the city from him. Our driver Yolanda was also great! The tour I took is not hop-on, hop-off but they do let you hop off at one point before it ends and give you bottled water. You get to see the main city areas and let me tell you, some of these buildings are not only super tall but also beautiful! The one thing to take into consideration is seating and the heat. There are plenty of seats that have cover but there are also some in the back that do not and it gets very very hot so I recommend shorts, a tank top and your hair up in a ponytail because you will sweat! The key is to get there early so that you can take one of the covered seats. I would definitely recommend this tour! read more

I saw these cool air conditioned busses advertising "hop on hop off" tours and thought it would be a great way to see Houston. Booked my tour and was then told by the cashier that the bus didn't have a sign on it saying hop on hop off and that the ticket was non-refundable. After showing her the photo, she said "oh well, what can I say." I resigned myself to 90 minutes in ac to at least get a glimpse of the city. Nope. Guests are only permitted to bake in the Texas sun ON TOP of the bus. Most of what we saw were murals and graffiti. One star is generous! Terrible experience! Tickets for a family of 6 were purchased for the Holiday City Tours. First, the pick up location that was included in the confirmation was incorrect. Upon arrival, with the buses sitting at the provided location, we were told, "oh sorry, that must have been a glitch. The pick up location is two blocks over." We had already paid for parking. The attendant's answer was, "well, I guess you can walk." Next the buses only run every 45 minutes. So if you get off be prepared to wait awhile. The tour operators were incompetent,running around like this was their first time. Finally, there were only four stops (advertised as 12). So disappointing! Save your money! read more

We did their city tour + Houston Space Center. Tour was okay, not great. They drive you around the city but it wasn't very interesting. They drive you to and from the space center and they're clear that they don't wait and leave right at 430, so we made sure to be outside before 430 but they were already gone. We kept trying to call but no one would answer so they stranded us there and we had to Uber back. It's one thing to ask people to be punctual and another thing to leave early. They have our phone number and should have called if they were going to leave earlier than what they told us. Overall it wasn't worth the money and would have been cheaper to just Uber and pay for the tickets direct for the space center. Pretty much a scam. read more

Please don't make the mistake and book here... I'm really disappointed in this company. My wife and I (Tomball) booked a spontaneous city tour which featured nasa on June 12th. The tickets we bought were for a tour that began at 12pm and ended at 7pm. Upon checking in, we were greeted with a smile, however as soon as I mentioned we had a 12pm tour, the conversation quickly turned sideways. The representative quickly fired back with "ugh, I tried to call you. We're not doing Nasa today and our time was wrong. It starts at 9:30 not at 12." The call I received was a number from Mexico and they left no voicemail. Strikes one and two right there. Not only was there poor communication on their website, there's poor communication from the staff. I asked what our options were and all he offered was a date to reschedule for. I calmly did so, and then asked for a refund through the booking agency. Im now being told, they aren't going to do a refund. My wife and I drove an hour into Houston, paid for parking, and were told that they didn't even offer a tour that day. The only upside is that they are letting me redeem this at any point in the next 365 days. That being said, I'm eating the cost and writing this review instead. Had I received a refund, I'd consider booking with this company in the future, instead, I will remove this company as a recommendation for family and friends. read more

To start with, we had to take the tour on a van. You couldn't see the attractions. The sub tour guide was nice but in my opinion wasn't that great. When one of the customers went in to express their displeasure the young worker was dismissive and after they left she was like whatever. I then chimed in and explained to her that the tour was not good. In addition, I told her that I booked the tour based on the double decker bus and if the van had of been advertised, my group and I would not have gone on the tour. I don't know if these guys are still in business. Their webpage is still up but their customer service sucks. They don't answer their phone or reply to emails. I wanted to do the NASA Tour (Departs 10:00am lasts over 6 hours and costs $79.95 per person). I just had a few questions as to when we would get back as I had tickets for evening baseball games for my time in Houston. Called. No answer. Called again left message. They never returned my call. Sent an email. No reply. Bullshit. So I ended up renting a car for the afternoon ($50) and the price of admission at The Houston Space Center was $24.95 per adult (plus $6 to park). I actually saved money doing it this way. So, thanks for your terrible customer service Houston City Tours. You saved me money. read more

No stars, would NOT recommend it. Bad service, bad tour guide. FIrst of all, be careful regarding where do you want to be picked up, as they may change according to days and you have to guess and call beforehand. After waiting for over 30 minutes under the sun at the Sam Houston monument, I call and they basically tell us to rush to the hotel's main stop. Otherwise, we would have lost +$80 of the reservation. We rush there, and hop on to a very fast view of downtown and that was it. The offer of hop-on-hop-off did not exist that Sunday, apparently.
