Low reviews can be a deterrent and that would have you missing out on a true gem. Beachside dining with waves crashing a few hundred feet away already makes for a great dining experience. Laid back atmosphere with friendly staff and excellent food. The ceviche was loaded with fresh and tasty fish. Cafe dolce was excellent and my son was very happy with his hot dog and fries. The table next to us had the full fish and lobster platter and it looked superb. Next time we're in the area we will definitely be ordering one. Hidden gem at the state park.

I don't know why this place has such low reviews cause the service is appropriate, the food tastes good and fresh, and on top of that you are eating by the ocean. A perfect spot for when you are going to hang out at the beach. I totally recommend the shrimp omelette; it had soo much shrimp and the bread it came with was crispy.

Absolute worst shrimp ceviche. Had one bite. Someone else had recommended this dish as the best they've had on google. Better to pass this place up.

What a cute little spot in the Bill Baggs National Park! Lighthouse cafe is a no thrills cook to order lunch location that is steps from the ocean. With ample parking, wheelchair access this place is a quick affordable place to grab a bite before, after, or during your adventures exploring the park. We made this our first stop and then decided to explore the park. You can find this place by following the signs to the lighthouse, passing by the first restaurant (boaters grill). Once you arrive you can order to go through the window, or grab a menu and have a seat. The menu has your typical sandwich's, fresh fish, fries, soups and salads. We chose the snapper filet sandwich that comes with fries for $15. We had iced teas and sat on the patio by the beach walkway to sneak a peak of the ocean total bill $37. Everything came out in record speed, the waitresses were friendly and accommodating and the food was surprisingly tasty. The fish was well seasoned and fresh, we had no leftovers! The only side note, the bathrooms are the public beach restrooms that can be a little soggy from the beach goers. Will definitely return with family!

A lovely place to relax with some good food and beer after a biking around the park! The food is really tasty, much better than I expected, and the covered pavilion has a really nice vibe. My favorite was the ceviche, which is a hefty portion for an appetizer (I used it as a light lunch for myself).

Outdoor seating. Plenty of wait staff who were attentive enough. Clams appetizer was good, but the cubano was just ok. The hamburger was also just ok (and $14). Seafood paella was good, but was $40. Not worth it. In general, it seems like a place that charges more than it should for mediocre food because it's in a good location/is the only option around.

If you're looking for a good meal on the beach this place is a must! The palomilla steak was truly amazing, perfectly cooked and full of flavor. I also ordered a colada, and let me tell you, it hit the spot! To top it off, I tried the flan for dessert, and it was AMAZING. They were very welcoming and the service was great. This spot is perfect for anyone wanting to spend a day at the beach but also craving a quick and satisfying bite. Highly recommend!

Opened in 1995, the Lighthouse Cafe is a small open air cafe inside Bill Baggs State Park. It is named for the Cape Florida Lighthouse that you can see from the patio while you dine. After climbing the lighthouse I was hungry so I stopped in for lunch. I was expecting a hamburger, hot dog, chicken sandwich kind of place and was pleasantly surprised at their vast menu of seafood with a Latin flair. The menu had appetizers, soups and salads, sandwiches, Latin dishes, chicken, sides, pasta, and desserts. They even serve beer and wine. Most beaches have a snack shack but this is a full restaurant serving ceviche, paella, and whole fried fish. For lunch I chose a shrimp basket that came with fries and a fresh squeezed pineapple juice for $15. I ordered at the counter but I saw other people getting table service so I'm not sure which is correct. The shrimp was fine but served with a tomato sauce instead of cocktail sauce which was strange. The juice was so refreshing. Serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner, the Lighthouse Cafe is open 7 days a week from 9 AM to 7 PM. It far exceeded my expectations and I would definitely stop in again.

I was told that when you're in Florida ESPECIALLY Miami you HAVE to get Cuban food. And wow... now…read moreI understand why. As we were driving in, the place already looked beautiful. We came in the evening and immediately, as we walked up, there was music, people laughing, talking, smiling... the energy was incredible. I also loved that there was a bar off to the side while waiting. We ordered a few mojitos and sat outside at the tables and benches, just enjoying the atmosphere. When our name was finally called and we walked inside, I genuinely felt like I was stepping into history. The atmosphere here is unmatched. The music, the aromas, the people. God, I loved it here and I hadn't even tried the food yet. We ordered the braised oxtail (which came with plantains and rice), salmon glazed in guava BBQ sauce, ceviche tropical, assorted empanadas, and a Cuban sandwich. Everything was phenomenal. The sauce paired with the empanadas perfectly. The guava BBQ glaze on the salmon was absolute perfection. It was the perfect combo of sweet, smoky, and flavorful. The ceviche had the perfect acidity and tasted so fresh and refreshing. This is one of the most famous Cuban restaurants in Miami. It completely lives up to the reputation. Highly recommended

DIRT AND MUD IN THE SALAD!!! WATCH OUT…read more We ordered the salad with mango and pecans. They do not wash there lettuce. There was literally dirt/mud at the bottom and I took my first bite and it felt like biting into sand. Upon spitting the food out onto my plate it was black sludge. Literally my tongue and teeth were black. The waiter came by and grabbed the plate when I was in the bathroom. I spent about 10 minutes trying to get that BLACK SLUDGE out of my mouth. When I was spitting out the dirt/mud wife noticed the bus boys laughing at me and there was not a manger in sight. When I asked for a manager he did not even respond. No apology or anything just a look of confusion. Worst experience in a restaurant in my life and I love to eat and have been to many types of restaurant big and small. Cheap and expensive and this one takes the cake. We were so bummed as I see thousands of great reviews. But if there was a zero I would have given zero stars the way they handled the situation. If you eat there in the future make sure to check for DIRT/MUD.

The menus for pretty much every Cuban restaurant in South Beach are copy paste replicas so the menu had pretty standard options. I started with a passionfruit mojito. It was amazing, one of the best i have ever had. I also got a cubano, which was good, but nothing mind-blowing. My friend ordered the churrasco sandwich, but they gave her the plate instead. The server then brought her bread so she could make her own sandwich, which was a nice touch and the price was the same. She enjoyed it and it looked like it was cooked perfectly to her liking.

That area definitely has more of a party vibe, and we just wanted to sit down and enjoy a relaxed dinner. We ended up at Esquina Cubana, just a couple of blocks away and I'm so glad we found it. It truly felt like a hidden gem tucked on the corner. The service was good overall. I do wish they were a bit more talkative or engaging, but they were still attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. The food, though, was the highlight. I ordered the beef empanadas (definitely recommend over the chicken), and my friends had a tamale and a Cuban sandwich everything came out flavorful and satisfying. We stayed for about 30 minutes, enjoyed the laid-back vibes, and it was exactly the kind of quick, authentic stop we were looking for before heading back to the hotel.
