If you need a tasty and quick bite not far from Miami International Airport, look no further that Kuba Kitchen! While waiting for my mom's delayed flight to come in, I decided to pop over to this quaint cuban restaurant about 2 miles from thr airport. The outside definitely could use a touch up but the inside was clean, inviting and nice for a casual night out. I didnt end up ordering a drink and ordered a Ropa Vieja. This came with a choice of 2 sides, of which there are plenty of options. I ended up picking the Yuca fries and black bean rice. The Ropa Vieja was packed with flavor and the yuck fries were perfectly crispy without them being overcooked inside. The black bean rice was the perfect compliment to balance it out. I was able to fill up on one dish by myself for dinner, so you'd likely need one dish per person. The Levhin Asada was highly reccomended as well! I was happy with the price for the meal as I felt like they were priced perfectly and felt like a good value. The staff was incredibly friendly and were only ever genuinely smiling! If I could give them a negative 100 I would. We travelled all the way from Seattle and I chose them out of many restaurants around because of the reviews and it looks like a family owned restaurant. We sat down and a lady in glasses took our order. We didn't even ask for it recommendations and she recommended two things and literally forced us to order one and we did. It was the A lo Guijio natural and it literally tasted worse than the Costco chicken. And she told me I should order the other shredded beef thing she recommended and I said no. I want to try a Cuban sandwich and there were several on the menu. I specifically told her I wanted the steak sandwich and pointed to number one and the brought out the el kubano sandwich which was number 2. When I raised my concern she argued with me and said I ordered that one and was giving me full attitude. Please do yourself a favor and don't come there. I don't know what other people are saying but I guarantee you food suck and service is even more terrible. Go somewhere else and maybe pay a little more or even the same to make sure you get what you order and probably way better food. DO NOT go here and have your day ruined like mine. We were visiting from New York for a long weekend and wanted some authentic Cuban food. Yelped this place because it was close to the casino and boy did we land on a jackpot! The food 10 out of 10 the service 100 out of 10 Big shouts out to Wendy our server who was the perfect addition to our wonderful experience in this establishment. The Cuban coffee was some of the best I've ever had and we all had entrées from the lunch special Menu which came with a soup or salad. Even the small portion of chicken noodle soup that came with my entrée was flavorful and delicious. The prices were decent and the quantity was good, but unfortunately the food was all quite bland. I ordered the granjero bowl without beans and a side of fried yuca. Don't let the unassuming exterior fool you. Kuba Kitchen is an absolute gem. While the location may seem a little sketch at first, inside diners will find a clean, welcoming dining room. Our waitress/hostess was kind and attentive, so we felt good about making our choice to have lunch here. The food is fabulous. The El Kubano sandwich with pork, Swiss cheese, mustard and pickles was very delish and the Cuban Coffee was the perfect pick me up. Rich, not bitter. I consider my self well qualified in Cuban cuisine, and I am happy to report that their food is magnificent. I have to say I have never had black beans prepared as well as this restaurant, they were seasoned perfectly and cooked to perfection. We briefly went inside to look around (no on greeted us), then chose to sit outside since it was a beautiful evening and the patio looked inviting. Before sitting down, my friend confirmed with the hostess that it was okay for us to sit there, and she said it was fine. We sat outside for 30 to 45 minutes and were never acknowledged. No greeting, no water, no offer of drinks or food. Nothing. Being ignored for that long makes guests feel unwelcome. Basic hospitality was completely missing. Absolutely delicious food. I got the tostones with pork that is normally am appetizer for dinner and they were very good. We also got the fried cheese appetizer and loved the cheese and quava sauce. There were so many little places around that looked awesome, but we ended up choosing this one in part because it seemed like they had some happy hour drink specials. And they did! Although, it wasn't that great of a deal and we had to ask to find out about it. When we entered, there was only 1 other set of people dining, but that didn't bother us. We ordered an appetizer sampler and this was definitely the way to go! I loved trying all the different savory bites. It included 2 croquetas, one empanada, Cuban tamal, tostones topped with sofrito pork, fried cheese, and fried yuquita. The real winner here was the tostones, which were shaped into little cups, with this soft delicious pork inside- such a great mix of slightly sweet plantains with pork inside, and the soft meat with the crunchy cup - YUM! This platter was perfect for sharing, so we also shared one entree along with our drinks, and this was more than enough for 2. The beans and rice as sides were definitely good. Disappointed with the food and the overall experience. I ordered ropa vieja ($17). Ridiculously small portions. The main dish came out cold but the side dishes were hot. The sandwich we ordered had aluminum foil bits stuck on the bottom part of the bread. We were lucky we caught it before eating it and just took it off. It came with fries as a side too but it was mostly chopped up tiny bits, similar to what you would find at the bottom of a frozen french fries bag. So my sister and I went on a cruise. We got there a day early to rest up and wanted to get something to eat. We asked the front desk and they recommended Kuba Kitchen. So we took an Uber about 7min, got there it was small, quiet and lovely all in one. The inside was clean and staff was polite, friendly and just overall AWESOME. Maria, our hostess, was super friendly and helped us choose items we would like. The mojitos were refreshing and tasty. We had the quesito frito and the frituras de malanga, as appetizers, which were super tasty.
