Although it's quite an…read moreexpensive membership (I pay to go 8 times a month), this workout gives me the boost I need when I'm tired of my other workouts (walking or running). I've never come to F45 thinking, "This again?" Each workout is unique and challenges me physically and mentally. And just when I feel cocky and think, "How is this workout going to make me sweat?" I am sweating, thirsty, and waiting for the 45 minutes to be over! Sometimes I just drive home in a stunned silence that I got through the workout without collapsing. Also, the coaches here are phenomenal! Some will show you the correct form, others will motivate you by shouting encouraging words, and others will sometimes work alongside you on a machine or two if you don't have a partner to keep you motivated and giving it your all. My most hated exercise is burpees. I like the part when I have to get on the floor, but then I have to get back up again! But I am really proud of myself for doing several burpees in a row and not staying on the floor where it's comfortable and safe. ;-) Tired of doing the same boring workout? Want a workout you don't have to think about setting up? Just want to start an exercise routine that gets you off the couch? No matter the reason, F45 is the perfect place to get moving!

There are two main reasons why I give F45 Training a Five Star rating…read more The first reason: these workouts aren't boring. That's super important because most exercise bores me. And if it's boring, I'm not going to want to do it. But that's never an issue at F45. I've found every session to be different enough that I never get bored. The classes are really well-designed. You know when you sign up what the focus of your class will be. There are usually 10 stations that you complete in 45 minutes, but the exercises at each station are different every class. Each station has two different exercises, typically one for the upper body, one for the lower body. You can choose to do either or both. The second, and most important, reason I give this gym a Five Star Rating is the trainers that work here. Especially the early morning staff, Josie, Lauren and Sarah. There are usually at least two trainers working every class. They continuously circulate around the room, so you never have to wait long for one to come by and check to see if your form is correct or if you need a modification. If you have difficulty doing an exercise, a trainer will instantly modify it or give you an alternative exercise. And that's another reason F45 gets 5 stars from me. See, I can actually do very few of the exercises as demonstrated. I need modifications at almost every station. But I know that in less than a minute a trainer will pass by and quickly modify the activity into something I can actually do. So, I always get a great workout here. F45 Training really is a great place to workout. The trainers that work here are incredibly supportive. There is a really positive, high energy, vibe here. Please motivate me enough to kick me out of bed or off the sofa! Otherwise, I find it hard to heave-ho myself on to a treadmill. Torture. Can't. Won't. I need someone to tell me what to do (because I'm a lazy lug otherwise. Is three reps enough?) and make sure I do it properly. Better still if they can tell a joke or two while I'm sweating. But I'm also cheap. I have to strike a reasonable balance between needing motivation and needing to conserve cash-ola. That's why I like this place. Chris has done a great job of training me and my partner without killing our wallet. He's able to train us at the same time, adjusting exercises for my high cardio fitness and my partner's arthritic ankle, my knee injury and his upper body strength. We get a fast, hard workout that makes me feel strong, and improves my fitness. The location is great for us. Parking is easy. And Chris is a bright, fun, entertaining trainer who knows his stuff.

While I have worked out consistently my entire adult life I was new to weight lifting. I was looking for a place that was approachable and would teach proper form to prevent injury. This is the place! The coaches are so knowledgeable, inspiring and so encouraging. The classes are both challenging and accessible for both the experienced elite athlete and the beginner. There really is a place here for anyone with the drive to become stronger. They are wonderful at scaling workouts for your individual body and needs. They really emphasize form, function and mobility. It's a diverse group of people that really come together and celebrate each other through the stages of life. I had a one-month trial of group exercise classes at Rocksteady Fitness and I have tried all of…read morethem: Zumba, Turbo Kick, Boot Camp, Yoga and Pilates by Melissa (the owner, instructor, personal trainer & massage therapist) and Kelly (instructor). All of the classes have been great because it's never been too crowded like a big box gym and since it is a small gym, the members have grown into a gym family where everyone knows each other :) The gym also offers a weight room upstairs for the strength workouts and has a few machines downstairs such as the stair master, elliptical and treadmill for the cardio workouts. The front desk staff, Art and Aileen (sp?), have been welcoming and informative. Ask about their contract options and student discounts :) Also, massage therapy is offered by Rocksteady Fitness and I had an amazing massage by Melissa who let me know more about the muscles and a couple kinks in my body :D

All the other gym goers are friendly and there are people of all fitness levels. It really feels like you're just going to hang out with friends at the gym. I'd much rather do an hour of Turbo Kick with Melissa than run an hour alone! Also there is a FREE Zumba class Tuesday nights at 7:30pm. It gets pretty crowded but it's definitely worth checking out!

I went and had an initial consultation where they weighed you, checked body fat etc. I was happy to get the information. After my 3rd session I asked when my trial exp. I wanted to come back and work out the next day. The trainer was too busy and said she would have Vicki (the front desk woman) call me the next day. She did not call me. I called 3 times and never received a call back. This was a few weeks ago. I was waiting on reviewing in hopes they would return my calls but that clearly isn't happening. I was told I would be re weighed and they would check my body fat at the end of the 3 weeks to see my progress. They did not. I did consider purchasing a membership of my body fat results were good but I'll never know. I was really excited to see if I made any progress. Honestly, for them to just blow me off and not return my calls was both rude and unprofessional. I was very dissapointed and sadly, could not in good consciousness reccomend them.

The trainers are invariably on time, organized, cheerful and helpful. Every second of the 45-minute classes is filled; every day is a different workout, and everyone who sticks with it for more than a couple of weeks makes immense progress. This goes for the "400-lb middle aged woman" someone described, but it also goes for triathletes and Spartan Race participants (many of whom train through True North.) The owners, Shannon and Rob Yontz, make sure the workouts are geared to the fitness level of the members, no matter what their fitness level (or lack of fitness level) is. Can't close without mentioning that I have made many good friends through True North, and they are yet another reason you should check it out.
