It was an amazing 2 night…read moretrip to see 6 Primrose at the Devour Food and Film Fest in Wolfville, NS, but I also knew that we NEEDED to add on a couple days and see Halifax. Hence, where the Halliburton comes in. I spent a couple days searching Hotels.com for all the options, reading websites, and talking to peeps from Halifax to get an idea of where we'd want to stay. I finally settled on the Halliburton and so happy that we did. It's a historic site literally 3 blocks from the water. The buildings official dates are listed outside on plaques as Halliburton House 1823, Henry House 1834, and Pryor-Benney House 1831. You can see the bay out the front door. We ended up with a basement suite to save our money for eating all the seafood our bellies could hold and it worked out great. The bathroom had been recently renovated and Bath and Body Works toiletries were complimentary. It's a series of three townhouses that have been converted into a "boutique hotel." Parking is included but limited and super squished. I don't think you could fit a large truck in the back. They do have overflow parking down the street next to the waterfront, but I'm not sure of the details. Breakfast is included and was your standard continental with one or two hot items. On our stay the hot item was beans. There was also cold sliced ham and hard boiled eggs. Coffee and tea is available complimentary throughout your stay. The basement did have a bit of an older musty smell, I'm not sure you can get around that being old and so close to the water but I didn't mind. Right off the lobby, is "Stories," their fine dining restaurant. The menu looked lovely and I'm sure it would make for a romantic eat in experience but we were more interested in walking around and checking out local pubs. I highly recommend Henry House Pub just two blocks away (delicious and traditional meat pies) and the Bicycle Thief (waterfront) for a fancier night out. They have free Internet throughout the Hotel, ironing boards, hairdryers, and the complementary coffee and tea in the rooms. This is a reasonably priced place to stay. The Redwood Grill is part of the Inn, here you can enjoy a wonderful meal, brunch or have a nice cocktail.

The hotel is clean, well decorated and the lobby is nice and big. In the hotel is a nice restaurant with a built in bar. It`s incredible how many people come to the restaurant just for the food. The meeting rooms are nice and big. Each time we`ve had the hotel serve our lunches and snacks. The morning snacks are usually fruit, muffins, danishes and Cinnamon rolls. The lunches were sandwiches and pizza. The pizza wasn`t that good, it was just average and the sandwiches were good; however, I`m not a big fan of miracle whip and every sandwich had miracle whip on them. We were however, completely satisfied with the friendliness of the staff and cleanliness of the hotel, meeting rooms as well as the washrooms.

Brent & Wendy Lee were fantastic. So warm and inviting and eager to help us with dinner suggestions, tourist recommendations, and anything we could dream of to make us more comfortable. Their home is a beautiful gem and our room was large, comfortable, beautifully decorated (most of the artwork on display was painted by the two of them!) and the yard and gardens were spectacular. We appreciated being in the suburbs down a quiet lane and a little closer to the Halifax airport, it made our next day just that much easier and more relaxed. Breakfast was gourmet level. No expense was spared, no detail overlooked. Sugar cubes for tea? Sure but also rock candy swizzle sticks if you preferred! Beautiful garnishes on each plate. We had "Atlantic breakfast" tea, fresh fruit served with a dollop of yogurt and a hint of honey drizzle and chopped nuts, a cheddar chive biscuit with eggs and hollandaise sauce with a side of ham. Every bite was perfect. The only thing was slightly odd was the ensuite bathroom had a curtain instead of a door. It was very elegant, but didn't offer much privacy between the bedroom and bathroom. The giant whirlpool tub more than made up for that though, talk about WOW factor.

All this after having to listen to a staff member being rude to a fellow worker. When we were leaving the response was that the cleaner went home early! One staff member followed us out to apologize not like the colleague who was rudely yammering to her colleague. We followed up with a call and email and received a sorry. That too is not appropriate. A refund or something to try to make up for the disgusting state of the non sanitary change room would be an attempt to make things right. Sad situation caution on the change room conditions and less than satisfactory excuses.

An internet search brought us to Oceanstone, which seemed like the perfect place to stay as we also wanted to check out Peggy's Cove too. We were lucky enough to secure one night and totally fell in love with the resort, pretty much at first sight. We had put in our booking comments that we were on our honeymoon, hoping we might get a really nice room. We were so pleasantly surprised to walk up to the kitchen in our super cute private cottage and find a lovely bottle of wine along with handmade, outrageously delicious sea salt caramels and a hand written note. To the resort, perhaps a small gesture but to us, it really make our stay that much more special. We really enjoyed our night's stay in our private cottage, which was just set behind the main lodge. The cottage was quaint, clean, and well appointed. We loved our small balcony just outside the living room area, we enjoyed our coffees out there in the morning. The bed was also super comfy too, like a cloud. We loved it there so much we inquired about staying a second night however sadly the resort happened to be fully booked for a wedding party the days immediately following our stay. We ended up eating at the restaurant on their property, Rhubarb, three times in just 2 days - it was so good. We enjoyed an early dinner when we first arrived, then ordered pizza as a "later" night snack then ordered take out the next day for dinner from the next cottage resort we ended up staying at just down the road. We also took a couple of lovely, calm walks along the ocean front during our stay which was so nice. The property is stunning and it feels like you are in another part of the world completely. Looking forward to someday returning again!

It has 2 rooms so when we arrived we were the only guests. The main floor has a large sitting area as well as the dinning room and kitchen. The bedrooms are upstairs and Robin lives in an apartment downstairs. Outside he has a beautiful garden with a large pond. The design and decor are very modern and clean. Our room had lots of extra space and all the normal amenities plus some extra stuff like robes and slippers, fresh fruits and snacks and a Tassimo machine. Our bathroom was awesome with a double rain-forest shower. When we arrived we were met at the door by our host Robin and his 2 dogs. They are some of the best trained dogs I have ever met and they, with Robin were amazing hosts. Robin knows almost everything there is to know about Lunenburg and is happy to help in any way. He gave us information on the best places for dinner and even called about reservations for us. I cant say enough about how much we enjoyed having Robin as a host. What put this place up to a 5 for me was the breakfast. With our welcome package Robin gave us menus for breakfast so we could pick what we liked. Amanda and I chose the French Toast Sandwiches (Eggs, bacon and tomato between pieces of french toast). Lisa and Norm selected the English Breakfasts. When we came down in the morning we were not prepared for the quality of breakfast we were about to receive. We began with fruits and yogurt that were super fresh (Mango, Honeydew Mellon, Strawberries, Raspberries and Blueberries) Followed by our selections which turned out to be gourmet quality. For drinks we had fresh orange and apple juices as well as our choice of several different coffees and teas. It all tasted amazing and was more then enough to fill us all up. The Wellshire was the best place we stayed at on this trip and maybe even the best play we have stayed ever. I cant wait to go back again.

One morning we were also served a plate with perfectly fried egg, 2 pieces of bacon and a fresh croissant. Next morning a plate with 2 blueberry pancakes, 2 pieces of bacon and cup of syrup. All so tasty but the croissant was my favorite.
