I am thrilled to have discovered Lighthouse Lighting and lamps. It has been sitting there next to the CVS and I have never had the opportunity to visit until recently. I purchased a chandelier at an estate sale. I was so excited to have it hung in my newly remodeled house when I discovered one of the arms had been broken during transport. I took my poor broken chandelier into Sal the proprietor of the establishment and was so excited to hear that it can be fixed. Sal is a fountain of information and the kindest man I have met in a long long time. His knowledge and sweet temperament, makes it impossible for you not to fall in love with him. He identified the era of my chandelier and has gone to great lengths to make sure it will be restored to its original beauty and that it will hang in my home as soon as we find some additional crystals and have it re-wired and cleaned. If you need any lighting fixtures or if you need something fixed, I would highly highly recommend checking in with Sal before going anywhere else. Oh, I was so excited just to have my chandelier in good hands and being repaired that I forgot to mention I found the prices very reasonable and I am not on a strict time schedule because life is too short to be crazy about timelines when you don't have to be . I had an antique desk lamp that needed an entirely new socket. Because of its unique design, it was a tough job to remove and replace the part. I walked in on a Tuesday afternoon and 45 minutes later, Sal had fixed it after many twists and turns with his tools. It was nothing short of a miracle. Wonderful little shop where unlike many stores these days which direct you to their website for best inventory, these guys actually carry a terrific and varied selection of lamps, from floor standing to sconces to ceiling ... I have a thing for lamps, light is everything ... I dunno maybe cuz I love the sun so much. It's a relatively small store, not one of those bigger warehouse type places, but I love this much better. Just like the other reviews say, the owner is an absolute gem! He is very nice, knowledgeable, and honest. I came in with my old vintage lamp which appeared to be going out on me. He looked it helped repair it and didn't charge me! He also gave me tips to help clean my lampshade and how to properly unscrew the top piece to the lamp. I wish my experience was as good as some of the others, and all I did was call! I do not live in the area, but go to Monterey often. I have an antique lamp that needs help. When I asked the guy if he did repairs, he replied "Yes we do." The sign on the door says Mondays by appointment (my only day off), so I called to make an appointment. The Guy said he was having a procedure on Monday and would return on Tuesday. OK. "So what about the next week?" I asked. Well it may be that day too (I paraphrase). My Mother had called about 10am and spoke with a guy that said the person who does the scheduling doesn't come in until noon. She waited and called again. He responded to her request with they do not sell switches. So get it straight! Do you make appointments as posted on your door? (Obviously not!!) Do you want my business? (Again, OBVIOUSLY NOT!)
