It's been a bit since we've been here and now I know why. The staff is nice and the restaurant is clean, but their prices are wayyyyyyy too high and the quality of food doesn't match the cost. We had a chicken sandwich (Zaxby's is 100% better) and the shrimp scampi. I love pasta, but I didn't want to eat much of it. Very bland. The shrimp,,.most definitely from a frozen bag. I wanted to like it, but it just didn't happen. The coleslaw was good, but not very cold. I only ate it to get the pasta and shrimp taste out of my mouth. Very disappointing and disturbing experience I visited Lighthouse Point in The Villages, Florida, for the all-you-can-eat crab. At the end of my meal, after I had already eaten most of my coleslaw, I discovered what appeared to be a bug/insect in the food. I immediately contacted the manager and showed her what I had found. Rather than receiving an apology or having my concern taken seriously, I was told that it was not a bug. Because I was extremely upset and no longer felt comfortable eating, I declined the pie she offered and requested compensation for my meal. She agreed to comp the meal but then told me to leave and never come back. When I began recording the interaction, the situation escalated. The manager put her hands in my face and threatened to call the police. Police were called, and I was ultimately trespassed from the restaurant. I photographed the object I found and have retained the photographs as documentation. I have also reported the incident to the health department and provided them with the photographs. I am sharing my experience so that others can make their own informed decision. Finding something like this in your food is upsetting enough; the way my concern was handled made the experience even worse. read more

First time eating at the Lighthouse Bar and Grill. We have been there before for drinks. We started with a cup of Clam Chowdah $7.20. It was very good and had allot of flavor. We ordered the Lobster Roll with mayo and the Clam Plate. The Lobster was $45.00. It was a generous portion and it was very fresh. The only complaint would be we ordered it with mayo and it came out plain. It came with fries and coleslaw which was very good. The Full Belly Fried Clam Plate $33.00. Was good, the portion could've been bigger. They had very good flavor, not as big as back in Boston. It also came with fries and coleslaw. We each had three drinks each. In all the bill was $146.00. Service was very good the bartenders were very friendly. We love the area overlooking lake Sumter. We will order food when we return and try something else. read more

My husband and I have dined here in the past, and we always have great food and service. This time was no different! This place is one of the rare places I have found that has actual gluten free New England clam chowder and it is delicious!! Being a New England girl, I love my Clam Chowder and this place does it right! They also have GF fries! I found the fries to be a little greasy but they weren't that bad. My Husband got the fish and chips and he loved it! The location is perfect and it sits right on the water! The interior is also decorated in New England sports memorabilia!! Christmas Eve we called Lighthouse to make a reservation, but unfortunately they weren't taking any at the time. We had a large party of 13 plus an infant, so we expected a wait and it ended up being about 45 minutes to an hour. That said, the experience during the wait made all the difference. Our server didn't hesitate to take care of us while we waited. She kept the drinks coming, mojitos, Long Islands, Bahama Mamas, and cold beers all of which were great. She checked in on us often and made sure we were comfortable until we were finally seated. Once we sat down, she immediately put in the kids' orders, which we really appreciated. For appetizers, we ordered oysters and Boom Boom shrimp both were AMAZING. It was my first time ever trying oysters, and I loved them dressed with lemon, hot sauce, and horseradish on a cracker, while others had them plain and loved them just as much. The Boom Boom shrimp was cooked perfectly (not overdone at all), and the sauce was delicious. hands down my favorite appetizer back home so I have high expectations. For the main course, several of us ordered the all-you-can-eat crab legs and were not disappointed. The initial portion was generous, and the refills were just as big and came out quickly. Others ordered steak, which was juicy and cooked to the correct temperature. There were salad substitutions with salmon, and the fish tacos were also a big hit. Not a single person in our party was disappointed. Our server was incredibly kind, attentive, and made the whole experience even better. Didn't know we could make reservations, but it didn't sound like those were very reliable on this particular night. The crab legs were GREAT--served alongside a generous helping of delicious fries. Never had to wait for a refill on the crab, as our bartender(s) checked in on us frequently. We were there for HH, so also enjoyed inexpensive drinks--Yuengling for hubby and white wine for me. FROZEN FOOD AT ITS WORST! The only redeeming quality of this restaurant is the staff, particularly Casey, who is an outstanding server. However, management is an absolute disaster. After returning an inedible, frozen swordfish, they had the audacity to refuse to remove it from the bill, even after they had already charged my credit card. When I insisted on not signing the bill, they threatened to call the police on me. In response, I stated that I could easily buy this restaurant twice over and would take pleasure in putting them out of business. I even followed up by calling the police myself, who advised them to take the item off the bill and learn how to run a restaurant! Avoid this frozen food trap. A glance at the majority of the reviews will reveal that the food quality is incredibly inconsistent. While the service staff is pleasant, the management is horrendous. The owner is condescending, rude, dismissive, and clearly indifferent to customer satisfaction. She knows full well that she is peddling subpar, frozen food and taking advantage of her customers. Take note of the questionable pricing strategy regarding side dishes--customers are charged more to substitute for less expensive options, which is downright unfair. I urge you to read the numerous one-star reviews and steer clear of Brittany and her awful restaurant. Any of her follow-up comments to my review should be disregarded; they are simply lies. Not surprised that when it all came to our table the brioche roll was hard as a rock. Yes the chicken was hot. However, a heat lamp made it very hard. Ordered the two specials, 20 wings and the peel and eat shrimp. The wings were crispy and served with hot sauce. The shrimp was seasoned with Old Bay and served with corn.
