We had a really good experience with Alloway in quick response to our request for assistance…read more Timely. Efficient, Skilled. Professional. Courteous. They charge by the hour for the work they do and we thought the final billing was reasonable and as we expected for the time involved from a skilled electrician. The fact that the electrician was such a nice guy was frosting on the cake. We needed two electrical issues cared for on relatively short notice - one involving a faulty smoke detector in a guest bedroom and the other isolating a cooktop circuit from existing kitchen adding an additional GFI. Neither major and the second not a code issue when our custom home was built five years ago but called out in a home inspection as recommended by the inspector as good idea and so we agreed to care for it. In our "past life" in other states where we also had custom homes built, we would have called the electrician who wired the home for the general contractor and they would have been responsive in no time. But in Eagle, the subs who worked for our (miserable experience) builder could care less about follow up after the fact. And so we asked an excellent realtor who her office might recommend to be responsive to care for these things and Alloway it was. In our belief that people who do good work themselves know people who do good work, this turned out to be a top notch recommendation. Alloway was able to have an electrician come out the day after my husband called them. Jerry arrived exactly in the "between X:00 and Y:00" service time window He checked both issues and explained what he would do to correct them. In both cases an additional piece-part was needed and in the case of one which was a new plug and to match the 'designer' plugs already in the kitchen backsplash and not something he had in his truck, he made a trip to a lighting supplier get one so all would be just right at install to coordinate with all the others. Not only did he do a great job, he was courteous and friendly and overall delightful to have in our home. And here I'd like to add a comment to balance out a 1 star review I see for Alloway on Yelp. It is this. Alloway charges by the hour. The other reviewer was unhappy that the electrician took the time to put his boots on and lace them when exiting her home to go to his truck and taking time to unlace the boots and take them off when he entered her house again after returning from his truck. But these guys, the guys in trades of all kinds, are doing that to protect homeowner flooring since work boots get dirty. I guess as a result of that review, Alloway's policy is now that their electricians slip on "protection booties" over their boots inside a home and slip them off when needing to go outside and on again coming in and... When I told Jerry no need for the 'booties' from my point of view, I was completely fine with work boots on the wood floors and I never expect guests to remove their shoes, he said it was company policy. So, thanks to them for taking care with homeowners floors. Another professional touch. But I'd be perfectly happy to pay the time for the couple of minutes max it takes them to put boots on and off too if that's what they preferred. We would use Alloway again...boots on or boots off!
