Best dance floor in Kentuckiana. Everyone is so friendly. Linda and Sharon are both great teachers.

An usher approached and offered the option of a complimentary upgraded ticket closer to the stage, which was a nice surprise. Truly feel there are no bad seats in this venue and sometimes bring my small binoculars to see if I'm missing anything (typically I'm not), but usually just sit back and enjoy the great audio quality with no complaints. My only grievance is toward fellow seemingly entitled, self-absorbed, impolite patrons who arrive late for the shows, typically with phone flashlights turned on bright who clumsily attempt to find their seats. They seem oblivious to stomping over other patrons in their quest to access seats they had selected in the middle of the row, loudly talking, and flashing blinding lights around. Rude, Rude, RUDE. I wish theaters would institute holding patrons at the door for specific entry into the theater as a group, perhaps 15 minutes into the show. Also, if you're 30 minutes late to an only 1-hour show, it'd be nice if it was either denied entry or perhaps directed to the back rows of the venue. End of rant. :)

Everyone mentions the ceiling and the faces, which are incredible, but there are so many more details to take in: castle-like doors and faux fireplaces, tile work, angelic statues and a starry sky ceiling in the main theater. Also, the Marquee Lounge is a great place to get pre-show drinks and snacks while also giving you a closer look at that ceiling.

We had decided on small plate appetizers of fried pickles, buffalo cauliflower, and boneless chicken wings. Our server, Mandy, suggested that we split the orders to include their buffalo style and their version of Korean bbq sauce. Excellent call by her. Every item tasted great . Buffalo style came with and ample amount of blue cheese crumbles and chopped banana peppers, the bbq sauce was sweet and garnished with chopped peanuts. Our cocktails where made perfectly. We had a well bourbon and Coke and I ordered a Sazerac which had the right amount of absinthe flavor. Again, Mandy was very attentive with water refills and checking on us at appropriate times. She's a pro. We loved the layout of the place that doubles as a dance club in the later hours. We are new fans of The Hub and will make it a regular stop on our rotation.

The only issue with outside were flies buzzing around our dishes- not much that the restaurant can do about that! The sitting area was spacious and comfortable for talking. The service was good and the wait staff wore masks (thank you The Hub!!!!). Our waitress had a good tempo for checking on us and was prepared with a list of foods that were gluten-free for our wheat-sensitive birthday boy. The food was mostly fine, though the sunny side up eggs were SO salty and the coffee was slightly gritty. It wasn't just me. My dad ordered the same meal as me and he also said the eggs were very salty. The biscuit was fine, the butter was also way too salty, and the fruit cup was very good. Everyone else liked their meals well enough, though no one cleaned their plates.

If you know me, then you know I love art and free and this is exactly both!…read more I go here any chance I get to see what new art pieces are put up and when you walk in there are pieces to your right then you go the left and there's a wall projected of live footage of you but with letters falling as if it's a mirror, very entertaining and interactive then you keep going down the hall there are pieces hanging up in the conference rooms and when you get the chance to go downstairs there are multiple rooms to go walk through and even the restrooms both upstairs and downstairs have art as well! Once I went when they had Korean based art and it captured the beauty of the oriental style in a modern look and there was a story telling room where each art piece told a continuous short story which was such a neat concept! Last night when I had visited my partner and I got greeted by Darrel the security guard and he was very friendly and accommodating! Art can make you think, smile, and even laugh! I'm glad I was able to laugh at the beaded and sequin piece last night, it's eyecatching and makes you stay for a while.

We booked specifically…read morebecause they advertised "breakfast on us" with a one-night stay, but that's not what we received. Instead of complimentary breakfast, we were charged $36 for a breakfast card that only had $36 in value - so we essentially paid for our own breakfast. To make matters worse, when we ordered, a single dish cost $22, which meant the "free" breakfast card didn't even cover one meal per person. This feels like false advertising. If you're going to charge guests $36 for breakfast, don't advertise it as "on us" or complimentary. Just be honest about your pricing. I expected transparency from this hotel, and instead got a confusing billing practice that left a bad taste - and not just from the overpriced food. I would not recommend staying here if you're expecting the advertised "free breakfast." In addition the pillows are HUGE and the front desk had no other options.

She and four friends (a group of five) walked in on a Thursday night and were told by the bartender she wouldn't serve them as a group of five because she was "the only one working." Oddly, she said she would have served them if they were a group of three and a group of two. They offered to come up one by one to order instead. They did just that--individually bought beers--but when one of her friends (a Black man) walked back outside within the rails of the establishment, the bartender followed him, grabbed the beer out of his hand, and poured it in the street. She claimed it was "past the rail," even though other groups in the exact same spot were drinking without issue. When they asked for clarification, she eventually handed another friend ~$7 cash to give back to him. The whole situation felt discriminatory, especially since the group was diverse (including Black, Arab, and LGBTQ+ friends), respectful, and well-dressed professionals. Meanwhile, other patrons were not treated this way. To make it worse, when one of them asked a simple question about whether the former owner still ran the place, another customer started yelling at her, saying "everyone knows [owner's name], that doesn't make you special" and the bartender did nothing. What should have been a normal, fun night out turned into an incredibly uncomfortable experience.

During my college years, a good portion of my Bloomington memories are from the Bluebird. Fantastic bands, good friends and a somewhat aggressive number of drinks were the common theme multiple nights a week. Now that I'm OLD(er) the visits are less frequent, but when the right bands are in town and my calendar isn't slammed with adulting, I still find the Bird to be my favorite place in town. The original Bluebird was about half the size it is today. Several years ago, they bought out the restaurant next door and added a large additional space, leading to a pretty big bar/nightclub with a 'bar area' that includes a nice full bar, booths and tables, and the 'live music' portion which has a big stage, plenty of room for big crowds, and a warehouse vibe that is second to none. When you arrive, you'll start to see pictures of the amazing acts that run thru the Bluebird when they're just on the cusp of being 'huge' - from REM to Miranda Lambert to Gryffin, just about every genre is represented and it's nice to say 'I saw them with a few hundred of my friends' after you give ticketmaster your kidney to pay for their giant stadium shows. Reasonable drink prices, good people behind the bar, and the best bands currently playing the area, you can't go wrong with a night at the Bluebird. I wish I was still young and able to do multiple shows every week, but for now I'll just appreciate having it in my backyard so I can attend with the mood hits . Best bar in Bloomington. Probably anywhere.
