We booked it for both a corporate event for our California business and also a personal party in 2015 to entertain friends within a one hour flight from Chicago. I was referred to it by a guy in New York who was looking for a place to entertain two sets of clients, one in in Lexington and one in Louisville, at a central location around the Oaks and to do the Bourbon trail one day. It is a midpoint location part way between. They have a unique high ceiling apartment rental next door that I think you can rent in conjunction with the event space. The unit is huge. I stayed one day while I was siting my party weekend. That makes for a great place for the wedding party say or to entertain the most important clients at your event. Both the space and the loft are very unique and have a much younger/modern vibe compared to the traditional decor and architecture for this town. There is a good Mexican restaurant next door. I really liked the open layout, you could decorate it however you liked if you wanted to do a theme, but it also looks great with the minimalist shop lights and functional sliding warehouse-style door. I don't want to quote prices because it probably depends but I was surprised how reasonable it was, talk to them yourself... The primary drawbacks as I see it is there is nothing else to rent like this within 20 miles, so I probably will have to rent it several years in advance and I tend to have a hard time planning work events too far in advance so it may be booked before my 16 and 17 event is planned. I talked to Kevin, who was very informative and down to earth. I met with an owner there also who happened to be dropping by to weigh in on some details. He is a broker in this town and said he did this as a creative outlet (enjoys rehabbing historic properties) and to increase the demand for permanent housing nearby as he is an investor, so that is how he can justify to rent it out at what I calc'd to be below-market rates for this type of space. If you like modern style, high ceilings and flexible space with a nod to the past and walkability to nearby goods and services(huge factor for us) is a big consideration for you, this is your thing. Check it out for yourself ... I think you will agree with what I am saying though- the place is sharp and this town had needed something like it for a long time. Look forward to many events here.

Quaint and in the heart of sweet Shelbyville! Don't know much about price range of renting the venue but it's worth checking into for any private party or quaint wedding!!! Down side to the location is finding it! But- once you do- it so neat and special!!! To the owners- you may want to paint the back door a funky bright color for parkers that park behind the venue to find the right entrance!! And painting the front door the same! We were a bit confused of where to get in... But that seems to be an easy fix!

The ceremony was outdoors on the lawn and the space is great for that. There's a dance floor area inside and plenty of space for any food or catering. The building has a nice sound system and televisions you can project slide shows or whatever you'd need onto. Victoria is the contact person and she is great, she will go the extra mile in service.

This is a family-run business and they excel in everything they've done so far. We took a tour of the venue and we're extremely excited to book our date. Unfortunately our date was already booked. So back to the drawing board on what date to pick. As soon as we figure that out we will be booking here. If you're looking for a rustic Barn type wedding then this is the place for you. They have a bridal suite and a groomsmen Suite off to the side of the main Barn. Each room has a couch and large bathroom with plenty of room to hang your formal attire. Very clean and well maintained. They offered to bring you drinks and food while you're staying there. Which also your stay is for the full 24 hours of the day that you booked. So that means you can go on the 40 acres and fish out of the pond or hike back in the woods. Anything you want to do on that day you can do. There is also a place back in the woods that you can use as your nuptial setting. They set up hay bales for seating and chairs if you prefer. They seem to want to handle everything from your flowers to your food. If you have a certain person you want to use, you tell them who that person is, and they contact that person and set up the date and time for you. Each time I've visited Wooden Glen, it's been for a work meeting. On my last trip, I spent the…read morenight. From Louisville it's less than an hour drive, off the Henryville exit and down a curvy neighborhood road. While a scenic drive on a nice day, it was a little nerve-racking in the early morning. No sunlight and rain. The road isn't well lit and I had to use my brights, plus drive more in the middle of the road. On the path to the retreat center, you'll also drive through a covered wooden bridge made for only 1 car at a time. Check in was fast. About 50 rooms with double beds sit next to the main building and you can walk a long hall inside to avoid bad weather. The main building contains meeting rooms, eating area and a loft with snacks, pool table and a couple of arcade games. The loft is a favorite spot during meeting breaks - jars of candy, chips and ice cream. Plus, who doesn't love a free game of Ms Pacific Man? Our trip included all 3 meals and for the most part, decent. The employees there are very attentive, clearing plates from the tables. It's nice to not worry about bringing in food or having to leave and visit a restaurant. Wooden Glen has a great deck outside with several tables, giving your group another spot for meetings or eating. In nicer weather you'd have areas for walking and I believe they also offer a team building area. The rooms are large. I appreciated the sink outside the full bath and small patio outside each room for enjoying coffee. The bed wasn't comfortable - felt outdated and had a weak mattress. Everything was very clean though. The outdated feeling carries through to each gathering area near the rooms. Each have couches and chairs, sometimes a fire place or kitchen area. It's a large spot to have a party. Again, very clean but it would be nice to have new furniture. Service has been great at Wooded Glen, and this has been consistent with every visit. It's a great spot for work retreats or a large family gathering. Or, if you just needed a quiet spot to be alone, it would serve that purpose.

We had a retreat here for work which included 22 of us. We made this place our home, classroom, and our playground for 3 days! This is located about 35 minutes from downtown Louisville. Once you entered the property you are entering a place of Tranquility and peace. During our time here every need was taken care of. We had amazing food For each meal, snacks and drinks too! The day before we left we had Team building activities. Shaun and Amy led our groups through multiple events. These team building events were challenging and incredible. They created such an amazing and unique experience! The resort has hotel style rooms, volleyball court, horse shoes, walking trails, fire pits, and more! Can't wait to visit again!
