Plenty of room for our group of five for a Saturday birthday brunch. It was a cooler early September day, so lovely to sit outside under the umbrellas. The only issue with outside were flies buzzing around our dishes- not much that the restaurant can do about that! The sitting area was spacious and comfortable for talking. The service was good and the wait staff wore masks (thank you The Hub!!!!). Our waitress had a good tempo for checking on us and was prepared with a list of foods that were gluten-free for our wheat-sensitive birthday boy. The food was mostly fine, though the sunny side up eggs were SO salty and the coffee was slightly gritty. It wasn't just me. My dad ordered the same meal as me and he also said the eggs were very salty. The biscuit was fine, the butter was also way too salty, and the fruit cup was very good. Two of us dined at The Hub for an early dinner and drinks. Don't let the small menu offering fool you. Great things packed into this flavor packed selection. We had decided on small plate appetizers of fried pickles, buffalo cauliflower, and boneless chicken wings. Our server, Mandy, suggested that we split the orders to include their buffalo style and their version of Korean bbq sauce. Excellent call by her. Every item tasted great . Buffalo style came with and ample amount of blue cheese crumbles and chopped banana peppers, the bbq sauce was sweet and garnished with chopped peanuts. Our cocktails where made perfectly. We had a well bourbon and Coke and I ordered a Sazerac which had the right amount of absinthe flavor. Again, Mandy was very attentive with water refills and checking on us at appropriate times. She's a pro. We loved the layout of the place that doubles as a dance club in the later hours. We are new fans of The Hub and will make it a regular stop on our rotation. read more

When I lived off Frankfort Avenue in Clifton, I was walking distance to a bar called The Hub. I've been there to celebrate the birthdays of friends, to ring in the new year, to have drinks with my boyfriend (who later became my husband), and even to celebrate turning 40 and fabulous. It's one of the places that fits the bill for so many kinds of occasions. It's not a bar that's been around forever, but it's one that still fills me with nostalgia. The Hub kind of has an upscale industrial vibe, classy, but not pretentious. It has a patio, a dance floor, a room for private parties, and plenty of room for having dinner (or brunch) with friends. It might not be the first place you think of when you think of carryout, but The Hub is a crowd pleaser in our house. The food travels well. The fries stay crispy. The menu isn't huge, but what they serve is far elevated from typical bar food. We know what to expect. It feels like home. I called The Hub tonight in a moment of frustration. It was later than normal and I hadn't come up with an idea that would please both my husband and toddlers. They didn't answer super fast and I impatiently hung up. To my surprise, they called me right back, took my order, and said they would call me when it was almost ready. That's the kind of service that I think would please anyone. Pictured is the adult grilled cheese on sourdough with white cheddar, gouda, balsamic fig jam, arugula, and house-cut fries. I added grilled chicken. In the second picture, the Hub burger- certified angus beef, white cheddar, bistro sauce, arugula, brioche bun, and house-cut fries. Finally, boneless wings with house Korean bbq sauce and green onions. (Full disclosure- a couple of these were eaten before I thought to snap a picture.) The only thing missing was a Scarlet Lady. Dinner is done. Nobody cried. Not once. I have a one-year old, a three-year old, and a husband with a man cold. I didn't have any of the three when I started frequenting The Hub but, regardless of my needs, they've always delivered. I've heard of The Hub when it first opened but had never visited. The food has changed a lot since then, according to many I've talked to. And I also haven't heard the best reviews about their food. We came on a Wednesday evening around 6 for dinner. They've got a parking lot right in front of it, but you can find parallel parking pretty easily around here. The space looks nice! They've got an outdoor patio area and two rooms on either side of the hostess stand to sit in. The room we sat in was dimly lit with pool tables. They had also decorated a bit for fall/Halloween. I got free popcorn for the table with a check-in. Yum! Not sure what was seasoned one it, but it was good. We also got fried pickles to share for the table. It was a generous portion! The sauce with it was also fantastic! I ordered the fried chicken sandwich with fries. The fries were perfectly crunchy and the chicken was flavorful. My only complaint was that my chicken was doused in sauce, that it lost its crunch and kept falling out the sandwich. The Daytona sauce I asked to be put on it was good though. My table mates ordered the burger and the house salad. My friend said the burger was bland although it was juicy. My other friend had no complaints about the salad. It was happy hour though, so we did try the drinks. I wanted the KY mule, but they were out of the syrup. I tried the scarlet lady: Tito's vodka with lemon, blueberry lavender syrup and Cocchi Rosa. It was delicious! My friend got Wren Bird: New Amsterdam vodka, lemon, early grey syrup, sparking wine, and orange oil. It was refreshing! My other friend got West sixth amber ale beer. I have only been here for brunch, but I definitely want to go back for more. I'm basic and looove brunching on the weekends. The Hub is such a cool, relaxed spot (during the day at least... It turns into a club in the evenings). I try not to overstuff myself at brunch to save room for the cocktails of course, so I opted for the avocado toast. So YUMMY! I have been to The Hub many times for brunch and a few times for dinner or just a drink. The staff and service are always wonderful. The location is great right in the middle of Frankfort Avenue making it convenient when shopping or spending time on Frankfort Avenue. For dinner, the adult grilled cheese is a great choice and very good! The nachos are a great appetizer to share with friends, and all cocktails I have had are great! The espresso martini was good, not the best I've had but good. For brunch, the avocado toast is usually good but when I went this past weekend they had changed from using avocado slices to a mashed version that wasn't as good. Everyone in my group was very happy with their meals, the breakfast burrito, chicken and grits, and smoked salmon toast are all great they said! They also have great mimosa deals for brunch! It was a lovely day when we went to brunch at The Hub! Everything was so tasty! I'm not a grits person but I took a chance on the cheese grits! OMG, so good! It went well with the Eggs in Purgatory! My bestie got the Chicken and Grits, also yummy. I tried it, just enough spice! It was like a buffalo chicken. Perfect with the grits. It was nice seeing things starting to open back up. I have a new favorite cocktail and it is their "It's An Island Ting". I can honestly say I have never had a drink with pistachio milk, but it was delicious! The hub has routine and weekly specials, seasonal alcoholic beverages, and rotating food menu, and they always range from 3.5-4 they just strike me with inconsistency. The place is wait to be seated or seat yourself in the bar, with food, beverages, dance floor on weekends and holidays in additional to pool tables and one or two more games. Atmosphere is suitable for friends hangout, dates, after work dinner (open after 4-5 pm daily) and own parking. They always have burger, fries, chicken sandwich, phenomenal asparagus and Brussels sprouts sides, daily different flavor pop corn and the rest change but I recently been enjoying their salads, appetizers but been having issues with my burgers here which by the way 2 for the price of one on Wednesday, dine in only. I love the Hub for dinner, but hadn't ever been there for brunch. This review is for 2 separate visits. 1) The service was really great and so was the food quality. I got the biscuits and gravy which I loved! The gravy was a little cold but nothing that was worth complaining over. For my fiancé, he loved his meal but wished that he had gotten a little more food. He left still feeling hungry. 2) The second time I went back for brunch I actually got the grilled cheese from the normal menu because I like it so much. It's been awhile since my last visit to The Hub, and I came this time for the Halloween drag brunch. For $30, brunch and the show was included. A variety of cocktails are available at fantastic prices, including $2 mimosas. Seating was at 11 a.m. and you need to get there then because the show starts at 11:30 a.m. and there's not a break between it and the end of brunch. Another show happens at 1:30 p.m. so there's pressure to pack up and go. When I saw brunch, I thought it might steal the show, but overall the meal wasn't impressive. I filled up my plate and sent 50% of it away. Thankfully the mimosa deals and fun show made up for the lackluster meal. For the drag brunch, reservations can be dialed in or emailed to The Hub. Burger Week! So I'm usually short, sweet, and straight to the point! The Big Cheese Burger was...pleasing to look at (see pic) but...THE BUN WAS WAY TOO BIG! I liked the quality of the burger it's self. The additions to the burger very tasty I love the fresh jalapeño! We also had the Impossible Burger. I liked it way better... It was vegan but it had the same toppings but once again...THE BUN WAS WAY TOO BIG! Can't say I would vote on it or order it again but it was a good attempt. I want to give The Hub a 3.5 rating because I think it deserves more than three stars, but I just cannot give 4 after our experience here. We came for brunch on a Sunday afternoon and had to wait about 20ish minutes to be seated. No big deal at all, there's plenty around the area to browse and they text you when your table is ready. They've got a nice outdoor patio, but since it was raining we decided to stay indoors. I love the beaker filled with water at each table. I especially loved the 1$ mimosas and $2 double mimosas!! Also if you check in on Yelp, you get a free bowl of popcorn (which is very good; who knew mimosas and popcorn would be such a good combo?) We were seated right under one of the TVs, which was very loud and was hard to have a conversation next to. We asked if they could turn it down and they said that all of the TVs had the same remote, so they were not able to. Here is what really disappointed me. We had to wait over an hour for our food. I figured we'd probably be waiting a little longer than average since it was Sunday and the World Cup was going on, but this was absolutely insane. We also had empty glasses and did not hear back from our server until about 40 minutes later. I do appreciate that they comped our meal though, as they said the kitchen was backed up. We had also watched the table next to us complain about the same thing, along with someone we knew there that was having the same experience. The food is what makes me want to give this place a good enough rating. It was fantastic. I had the fried chicken sandwich that came with skillet potatoes, and it was (almost) worth the long wait. I want to come back to the Hub someday because I feel like it typically does better than this experience. So hopefully I can update my review from there. read more

The Hub has really grown on me lately. After going there recently and seeing that I hadn't yet written a review, I figured that it was time to share my thoughts on the place. I had visited within its first year of opening and felt kind of "meh" about it. I remember feeling like the place had an identity crisis (was it a pool hall? A trendy bar? A great patio? A lounge? A restaurant?) and while the food was good, it was never my top pick for hanging out. Well, a few visits to the patio in warm weather as well as a few trips up during NCAA March Madness to watch the games, and I found myself warming to this place like the thaw of spring after a long winter. The service is stellar at the bar, and the food has enough variety to keep me interested no matter what I'm in the mood for. My most recent trip was to watch some of the hoops action. The place was relatively quiet for a Saturday afternoon, but there were screens all around for viewing the games. I sidled up to the bar with a friend where we were promptly greeted and put in our drink orders. The bartender as well as a couple of servers were awesome at keeping tabs on us throughout our time there, and ensured that our glasses stayed full and the French fries that we ordered came out piping hot! It filled up shortly thereafter. Started with a spinach goat cheese dip ($8), which we managed to devour rapidly. It was tasty. My wife modified a fish sandwich order and they were very accommodating to swap the Fried Pollack for grilled salmon ($13). This was my third time going to the hub and I can't stop eating this chicken and grits. I've literally gotten them everytime (sometimes I'm feeling a little wild and will add the Korean brussel sprouts) but leetttt me tell you... these grits are fire. Bomb. Delicious. Tasty. & literally have me coming back for more. Drink prices are typical, the entry fee was pricey - 15 bucks with no reentry ability - but the area was spacious enough. Good music - two different stages with two different performers. They have a fogger and strobes and the place is all decorated stylishly. You can tell they're going for a big city night club vibe and I love it - even if the establishment itself isn't all that big. The place was styled up and the employees and fellow patrons were very friendly. Very very friendly and nice. That's such a breath of fresh air! I felt safe and able to have a fun time. It's loud in there so not much of a talky place but a decent place to party the night away under neon lights with some reggaeton. Also, they offer a free spin around photo op which is neat. Fun fact, Jack Harlow paid this place a visit last Friday night so you know it's got some credit. Rather average bar in Clifton that was once a fire station. The service was good but the prices for bar grub were rather expensive. They had an extensive list of Tequila selections but ZERO choices for the keto-conscious group when there are several low carb selections available on the market today (Kroger and liquor stores can't keep the shelves stocked). They do have a canine special event every 3rd Sunday of the month that we are considering since there are 4 pooches in our group. I don't know if they are prepared for us though. After an afternoon of enjoying all that the Clifton and Frankfort area shops had to offer, my hubby and daughter and I stopped in for a drink. The space has a modern, gastropub ambiance. There is a large area with pool tables, a small area next to the bar with tables and a counter and down a few steps is an area with more tables. The menu looked amazing as did the food that we saw being brought to nearby tables. Sadly we had already had a late lunch and weren't hungry. I can't wait to go back and have a meal! It's my birthday and they didn't offer any accommodation for me - but what's worse is that they didn't have silverware for the first 30 minutes of our visit. They were completely unwilling to do anything for us to make up for their mistakes or just to be nice for my birthday. read more
