She matched what I asked for, made sure everything looked center and clean and allowed me to feel extremely comfortable. The owners here are so kind and always serve the most clean amazing work I've gotten. I only trust a select few artists and these guys definitely are up there. I've followed Dominique's work for many years on Instagram and have always wanted my tattoos done by her. Her art is truly mesmerizing and unique. When I saw the Friday the 13th flash event I knew this was my opportunity. She's a big deal in the Santa Cruz county so I knew to not go until the near end. I showed up around 5pm, there were still a good amount of people waiting to be seen but not too bad. I herd the shop had to shut down because it was such a success that even the landlords (NOT THE OWNERS of LIGHTS OUT) called the cops because THEY were upset at how many people showed up. I'm glad the owners didn't let that stop them from reopening and finish up the event! Chips, Drinks and Candy were provided while you waited to be seen and they had music that was taking me back to my club days! The vibe was so chill back and friendly I caught myself singing to the music with other people. I waited about 2 hours and was seen by Dominique herself ! She did a Cool-ass snake tattoo on me (pun intended ;). She had a light hand, with quick and smooth lines. I was ECSTATIC when I saw the final result! Dominique herself is a funny, warm and a genuine person. Considering I had to pull down my pants in a room filled of people, it was a great experience and will definitely be back! read more

Had my first visit at Lights Out Tattoo today for the Friday the 13th flash sale. I gotta say that it was BEYOND what I could've expected. The hospitality and kindness from this team was truly incredible and outstanding. I've never been to a tattoo event where they had a market selling vintage goods. And the people were AMAZING!!!!!! Later in the day, I was saddened to hear that they were shut down prematurely due to "too many people" on the property and etc. I am very fortunate that I was able to benefit from this event earlier today but bummed that many people were disappointed and had to leave the premises. HOWEVER to be very clear, how the situation was handled left a sour taste in a lot of people's mouths. Also, it was FIRST COME FIRST SERVEA. im sorry to the ppl that didnt show up early enough but you snooze you lose. Give yourself a bad review for not getting there early enough. Anyways, I was tattooed by Drew and it was a fast and amazing experience. I wined and bitched about being scared but he was professional and kind and eased my nerves. It was a bummer that it got shut down early and I feel the frustration for everyone that waited and didn't get tatted. But all in all it was not lights out's fault. I'm here to post my appreciation for one of the best shops in the entire Bay Area. And also directly respond to the group of people who felt a need to post a mediocre 1& 2 star reviews bc of your "dissatisfactory 5 hour journey with how things went on the Friday the 13th flash sale" i just have to say your feelings are valid but not directed at the right things or right people. To say "your apology was so disingenuous that it didn't even feel real" is so ridiculous I can't even fathom what must've hurt you that badly to channel your inner Karen to say make such an entitled statement. Did you want the people who work there to get down on their knees and announce the speech they had prepared for you along with the smallest violin in the world?! You came at the risk of not getting what you came for. You don't know what went into such an even to make it happen or work. You always knew it was a possibility you wouldn't get your tattoo, so your dissatisfaction is on you and your ability to with hardship. Clearly the business in question was extremely popular during the day in question & did not foresee complications that would end up cutting the day short. I'm sure your all too familiar with shitty landlords and how they treat their people. That's all that happened and you probably didn't know that. Someone shut everything down prematurely. Do we know why? Do we care? Maybe? Point is it's out of anyone control and not a genuine reflection of the business. Imagine you get in line to get concert tickets for your favorite band Jonas Brothers or Taylor Swift & you totally feel like it's reasonable to get a chance of getting tickets and you wait for SO long, only for the event to sell out & cancelled early. Are you gonna start posting a yelp review on Taylor about how this is totally not how to run a business. You're just gonna be like... "damn, I tried and failed & it might've not been worth the effort but I at least had a chance". Not "yo wtf why is this business not respecting my entitlement to get what I came for. You just bite the bullet. Yelp is for genuine review of service & business not you just venting about your bad experience when you accepted the terms going in. This isn't a drive through McDonalds business, this an artistic business that prioritizes art over business that's why you go there in the first place. Good artists like these you suspend your disbelief just like a movie at the promise that you're getting extremely talented art on your body. You should be able to yelp review other people's reviews for credibility. I'll start 0/5 star for you guys. Like I said your frustrations are valid, but save it for dinner with the parents and save these forums for genuine reviews or feedback. It's hard to find people whose talent is as impressive as their attitude, but you'll find just that at this shop. Drew and Dom are two of the most rad people you're going to meet, and when you bring in the fact that they're phenomenal tattoo artists then it would be silly to not get work done by them.
