I was hoping for so much better from a bakery that claims to have "the best cake in America" . This wasn't even close to quality. I bought 9 items to try and if I were the one who made these items only 1 of them would've made it out my door. I have a much higher standard of quality than this. The rest would've gone in the trash. The cupcake tasted like a grocery store cupcake. The icing was awful. It tasted "canned" it certainly wasn't good quality buttercream. We live in a bakery desert, there are bakery's closer to us than Prantle's but none of them are of any quality. We make the trip to Greensburg because of their fantastic desserts. Quite often we go on Sunday because everything is on sale for half price. Prantle's is a long time Pittsburgh bakery with a great reputation, we were so happy when they expanded their business to our area. Can't recommend them enough. read more

I have had three different issues with this store. I'm never ordering a custom cake from here. I don't recommend it. I cried for the one they made on my baby shower it was just so ugly. Another time I had ordered a carrot cake for my husband's birthday and the day of they told me it would be ready tomorrow not the day I needed. Waste of time. This one I ordered for my son's birthday and they didn't do it correctly because this isn't what I ordered. I ordered an edible image. And even then there's indents on the top of the cake no smooth top and Elmo looks weird. Also half of the cake was a different color. Never ordering a cake again. read more

When Prantl's Bakery opened this store in Greensburg, it was the talk of the town and deservedly so. Hubs and I have not been disappointed in any purchase we have made here. Hubs chooses the bear claws or cherry danishes every time. I like everything; from the large cinnamon rolls, cupcakes, and the huge elephant ears. Their cakes are delicious and where I can always be sure my order will be perfect. Their almond torte is a regular purchase for me. Another favorite are the large lady locks. The filling is the tastiest around. The employees are friendly and try to answer any questions regarding your special order. If I lived nearby, I would be 300 pounds for sure. read more

We ordered two cakes for a birthday/retirement party. One was a chocolate cake with raspberry filling and one a yellow cake with strawberry filling. Both cakes were ordered with whipped cream icing. Boy were these cakes a hit with the party people (hahaha). They were really moist and delicious. When we picked the cakes up, we had to wait for a few minutes for other customers to complete their orders. That's always a good sign and we were not disappointed. Never visited Prantl's until their recent opening here in Greensburg. It's a simple - not overwhelming - experience when you walk in. Take a number (if it's busy) and they'll grab anything you want from the display cases. On this particular visit, I decided to try the mini burnt almond cups (OMG!) and some sort of sticky bun/roll. Both were amazingly delicious. Everything looked so good! The biggest challenge I faced was finding the place. I'm not super familiar with the South Greensburg area, so I had to GPS my way here. My guess is that I'll know my way here with my eyes closed within a few weeks. read more

Called for a almond torte for my birthday, the hours posted said they were open so I called in the morning to make sure they would have one. They told me they stock them and they had them. Told me about the difference between the travel cake and the refrigerated cake and after all that told me they were closed and I couldn't get one. My wife surprised me with $70 worth of baked goods from Prantls. Elephant ears, cinnamon bread, chocolate chip cookies, pepperoni rolls etc.... I ordered a chocolate almond torte and some snowman gems for my mother's birthday last week and they were excellent! I decided to try something different this year and went with the chocolate torte and it was a hit. I'm pretty sure almost everyone went back for another piece. It was fresh and ordering was seamless. I had a really large order including a sheet cake, and coffee cakes, and they nailed it. The sheet cake was their wonderful burnt almond torte with vanilla custard which was as wonderful as I remembered. We ordered three different coffee cakes, and the raspberry crumb definitely stood out above the rest. It was made with thier super light cake and topped with a delicious crumb and slightly raspberry, not too much to take over. The pecan one was definitely a second favorite. We ordered cupcakes for the kiddos and they absolutely loved them. Lastly we had some muffins that were also equally delicious, but would definitely recommend the coffee cake first! did I mention I ordered this all online from NC, and it was ready upon arrival? Great addition to Greensburg, there is a reason this is a Pittsburgh staple!!! You can never go wrong with any choice and the case was fully stocked, even on a Sunday afternoon. Obviously their burnt almond torte is a must, but we had several small tasting cakes as well as cookies, and all were excellent!! Snagged some pepperoni and feta spinach rolls as well, which were also very good!! Definitely have to stop and check it out. read more

I stopped in yesterday to get a cake/cupcakes for my boyfriends birthday and was pleasantly surprised by the selection! For some reason, I was not anticipating the bakery to be this large. They had a whole case of wonderful cakes, cookies, pies, and bread. They had wedding cakes on display along with a small coffee area. I settled on the decorative cupcakes ($2/cupcake) and the sesame twist rolls...both were amazing! I will 100% be a regular here! I was a Shadyside Prantl's customer. I live in N. Huntingdon and was delited to go to Greensburg for my Prantl's. Ladylocks and burnt torte were always our favorite. However I have gone to the Greensburg Bakery several times giving them a chance and to no improvement at all they have horrible lady locks + the cream is just at both ends with none in the center. There burnt almond torte is definately not what it used to be. I also want to mention that there is not one friendly employee working there! I am so disappointed!!!! read more

Not the same at Shadyside Location. Does not seem fresh each day and cookies are stale. When I got my box of little cakes and cookies and opened the box when I got home- it looked like they were thrown in and they were all over the box. Couldn't even eat them. read more

I wish I didn't live so close to this bakery. They have scones that remind me of the scones I got in England. My favorite treat from here is the almond tort. It's big enough to share with 2-3 people. I haven't bought a single treat here that I didn't like. read more

I can't say enough about this bakery! Of course the famous burnt almond torte is the best dessert in the world, but their donuts and danishes are also amazing! It's a small bakery, but still has a pretty nice selection. Staff is very friendly as well. read more
