We are long time customers of Cathy; and have been bringing our 3 kids (8, 6 and 4) to this place for the past 8 years. Today, my husband brought my 6 year old son to this place, for a cut and the lady there butchered his hair cut. I went back yesterday to show them the hair cut. They do not agree that it is their mistake; I am not convinced. Vy (who was not the one who did the original cut) helped fix my son's hair and offered to pay back the cost of the original cut. I declined the offer but requested the refund of my remaining credits. Glad they helped fix it but not taking the chance again with this place. read more

My son has Autism and is TERRIFIED with a capital T of getting his haircut. We have tried everything and when it comes down to it we just have to bring him in during a quiet time and get it done. I have brought him to other salons where I felt uncomfortable but we found our spot here. Not only do they not judge our son or give us dirty looks but they help us comfort him and hold him. One time we tried to give him a haircut at home and we failed miserably and he needed to get his "new do" fixed immediately. I called them and they took us 15mins later with no appointment. I was so thankful, they were so understanding (it happens more often than you think) and even though he was still frightened, they were quick and calming. For any parent who is going through the same thing I would recommend calling first and asking for a slower time and go in and try it. They have televisions at each station usually playing a movie. Also they have a ice cream machine and a play area. It's truly a clean and safe environment. read more

Despite all the great reviews, we didn't have a good experience. I brought my 3-yr old for her first haircut. She has very curly hair and she was VERY anxious. I told Cathy to please use water and detangler in order to comb her hair prior to the trim. She didn't and instead used a comb straight to my daughter's dry, curly, knotty hair... that obviously didn't go well, she burst into tears and we were able to bribe her through the rest of the haircut. Was recommended by one of the hair cut people's brother's so was really looking forward. 45 minutes past our 11am appointment, still waiting...with a 6 month old. No acknowledgement, no apology. We told them we were leaving and their response, "oh, okay." Usually direct references are best. Not even that could salvage the terrible customer service we experienced. read more

Really good place to get a haircut for babies and kids! They have all the fun cars and trucks for kids to sit in and TVs. They are quiet patient and fast. We had a great experience getting our 15 month olds haircut here. I didn't catch the name of our barber, but she was very nice and listened/followed all my instructions. I will be back! read more

This review is so overdo, and I definitely been wanted to spread the good words out there and give them my since they is the only people I trust with my child's hair and her haircuts are looking bomb every each time. I have been to LC salon for few times now and with no doubt they are a master in hair cutting. My daughter stay has a few out of controlled cowlick and her hair has its own mind and it grows all different directions.. and all my life I was struggling with styling her hair by myself and I was afraid of cutting her and stylists doing the same! But it all has changed now, the style and technique that he cuts is so unique & her cuts lasts for few months and as her hair grows out seems like it even looks better and it's still manageable or as she says her cuts are will texturized and that's the reason that it grows out so good. They are usually late to take you in for the appt. it feels like they overlap all the time. Our appt was at 12. We weren't called until 12:35. We finally finished at 1:15. And I don't mind trying different hairstylists but I'm sorry the haircut sucked and my kid's hair was ugly and butchered. I prefer any of the 2 Asian girls. They r quick and do it real nice. But they also have attitude. Don't smile. Don't greet customers. You are basically just a number. A paying number. I had an appt and they took my son in 30 min late. And mind u kids can't wait and don't have patience. Then when I asked her if she (the Asian girl- Kathy?) could cut his hair she said very rudely "I'm booked" without even looking at me. And left me standing there like an idiot. Don't be rude to your customers because I don't disrespect u. I have referred a lot of my friends here and business is money. I hate coming back and paying twice because the hair cut is uneven and ugly. My kid looks like he cut his own hair. Too bad, if they they don't fix their attitude their haircuts don't matter even if it's really good. And also pls train your staff better. This place looks very clean, and the inside looks modern. I was pleased with the actual theme of the place, since it is mainly for kids, they include a yogurt machine and kids toys along with TV's for the kids to watch whilst getting their haircut. My daughter was happy and quiet (not normally, she gets very angsty) when getting her hair cut. It was quick and we got out and went to the sushi restaurant down the block from the place. Nice, quiet little salon on Laurel Street. Every station has kids movies. Kids shampoo, and the tinsel. My girls have to get glitter tinsel in their hair every time. It is a little run down, meaning they should try to de-clutter and put art of a screen over the defunct fro yo machines, if they aren't selling it anymore. But they are efficient and good with kids, and who can argue with glitter tinsel? They tie it in like an extension and they last for weeks. I wish they would spiff it up and de clutter. It feels tired, but kids don't care. I think it would be great if they offered kiddie manicures. read more

We came in today for my daughter's hair cut and to use the prepaid coupon since we still have 1 left (worth $20). We were told that we can't use the coupon and that we should contact the previous owner for a refund. Business wise, this is definitely unacceptable, unprofessional, and inconveniencing the customers since the Salon's name is still the same and the new owner should have assumed the liability when they bought the business. We are very disappointed with the service and will not come back again. read more

Came in for an under five year old trim and bang cut for long hair. When we arrived, we were one of the first appointments of the day. I was surprised by how unkept the space was. There we clumps of hair all over the place and underneath the clear shelf they use to display product. The brushes were not clean and had one nice thick clumps of hair in them. Stylist took maybe 5-7 minutes to do the cut and pulled my kids hair during the process. I opted not to get bangs and just did a trim based on how poorly she was handling the trim. By poorly I mean, pulling my kids hair to brush it and spraying water in her face to get the hair wet. Very careless and sadly not a great experience for my kiddo who was already apprehensive about going. When she was done she asked how it looked. It was uneven and I had to point out all the mistakes from the five minute cut. Then she charged $26. Sadly we will not be going back and I wouldn't recommend anyone else take their kids there for a cut either with the salon and stylists at it's current state. read more

You do have to remember to call ahead to get an appointment for weekends, else they get really busy. But the haircuts are clean, efficient, and they are great with kids! read more

We used to go to the one on 3rd and are so happy with the haircuts we've gotten in the San Carlos location. When they closed the 3rd Ave salon I started taking my kids to just kids cuts in Burlingame and there is no comparison to the quality of haircuts. Lil couture is leaps and bounds better. Brandon gave my daughter the cutest A-line bob and they actually take their time to style it. I went back one more time to JKC because it was closest and asked for the same a-line cut, they cut it all the same length and looked at me like I was crazy when I wasn't happy with it. 1 week later, I was back at lil'couture, lesson learned, worth the drive. read more
