I have a rough around the edges toddler who even at 3, despises haircuts. He cries nonstop but thankfully she is super quick so it doesn't last long. Not only is she quick, her haircuts are better than all the other places I've been to. For this reason, I journey 30 minutes just to see her. My other son has always handled haircuts well, and still, his best cuts are from here. We will continue coming here. Metered parking is available and often easy to find. I was nervous because I knew my son would start crying the moment I mentioned "haircut" I easily made an appointment through text and arrived at my scheduled time. However, my son threw a major tantrum so I had to walk away. I came back 30 minutes later and Cathy was gracious enough to still take us. My son threw a fit, but she knew exactly how to handle it. she had a cartoon movie on a TV and we got through the haircut in about 10 minutes. I'm not sure why people recommend this place. I went there with my 2 year old. It was his second professional hair cut and Cathy was kind of rude about the fact that my kid was scared and crying. The hair cut was not great because my son was freaking out and she didn't do anything to help with the situation either. I brought my 2 year old here to get her first haircut. The person was a bit rude from my perspective. She straight up restrained my daughter with a cloth without walking us through what was going to happen. I get that it is for her own safety, but it would've been nice if she had walked us through all this. After a quick cut that literally took one minute, she rushed us out. Found Cathy on yelp and decided to bring my daughter here. I called on a Saturday morning and was able to get an appointment for the same day. This was my daughter's second haircut in her whole life so it was important for her to feel comfortable, and she was. Cathy was very quick and gentle. Not a big deal, we thought. Strange given so many good reviews... When we came back at the agreed-upon time, she already took another customer. Asked to clarify the situation and still cutting other child's hair, she shouted back to us: "I took another appointment from the next slot bc if I don't I would get backed up!". While watching two boys being cut over a short span of 7-mins I saw no scissor work, no layering, no styling or trimming -- just a shaver machine buzzing and requests for $25-30 payments. I was pleasantly surprised we were able to go and be seen right away. I had called for an appointment that weekend and there was an opening. We didn't have to wait at all when we got there and it was super quick, which is great for a wiggly little one. Cute little shop and she plays a movie for kiddos to watch. I won't give this place any stars! My son's hair got butchered, they clearly don't know how to cut curly hair so disappointed in this place.

My son is now 4.5 and has been getting his hair cut with Cathy for the last 3 years. We started with Cathy in San Mateo and moved to San Carlos as well. We actually tried another barber in between and had to go back to Cathy during the next week to get it fixed. My son does not like getting his hair cut but Cathy does a good job of being gentle and fast and able to make it look very neat. Cathy has her own chair inside of the i Salon on the left hand side when you walk into the shop. She still was able to set up movies and has some toys in the waiting area for the kids. As most of the people who have cut hair with Cathy before she is very busy so she might not get to your appointment right on time but she will fit you in. To me it's worth the wait especially since she is the only one able to get my son's hair nice and neat. She still has a tv showing kids movies for the little ones getting their hair cut as well as lollipop treats for the kiddos after their cut. Make sure to call in and set up a time with her as she can get very busy. Her schedule is also a little bit variable as she has a couple of little ones on her own so best to make sure she'll be available when you show up. read more

I went to this place because of the reviews and how "nice and professional" they said Cathy was. WHAT A WASTE OF TIME. I made an appointment hours ahead and she told me to come at 4:50pm. I got there 30 minutes ahead and txted her to let her know incase she finishes early I'll be right here, never got a txt back. And then 4:57pm comes along and she takes another customer and when I asked her "hey I have an appointment at 4:50pm I think we're next" she didn't even look at me and said "yeah they're first their app is at 4:40pm". WHO MADES HAIRCUT APPOINTMENTS 10 MINUTES APART? To begin with I think she those customer didn't have an app. She just took them in because she knows them. I feel inclined to write a review for Cathy given how many moms recommend her. Ultimately we stopped taking our son to her because the wait time became unbearable. We would make an appointment one week ahead of time and still have to wait 25 mins when we got to the salon. It was super frustrating to wait so long before our appointment only for her to spend 5-10 minutes giving our son a terrible haircut. If you're willing to wait and appreciate a fast mediocre haircut for $25 then you'll be happy with her, but we decided the haircut was not worth the long frustrating wait. read more

I showed up on time with a 1.5 year old to what would have been his first haircut only to find 2 other kids in line, one had been waiting 25 minutes already and would have probably been at least 5 mins before he was taken. A 1.5 will not sit there and wait 30+ mins. Also what kind of service you get when she schedules 10 min per kid? Does that include time to clean an disinfect??? I am one of the many that followed her from San Mateo to San Carlos and back. She is the best, and I mean The BEST, at what she does. She knows how to handle the fuzziest kids. I would know because my son is one of them. No matter how busy or hectic the day might be, she makes sure every person/kid that sits on that chair leaves with a perfect cut. She's patient and that's really important when you're dealing with kids. Woo Cathy at Jr. Couture! :D We had our first cut with her at this location and my 23 month old's hair cut is great. Did my son cry? Yes. Did my son probably hate every second. Yes. Was this Cathy's fault? No. Having a complete stranger come at you with a buzzing device to your head and then sharp scissors with your hair falling in your face can't be the most enjoyable experience for a kid who's still new into the world, but that's what a haircut is, right? You get used to it and it becomes the norm after a few. Anyway, getting back to the review~~ Cathy's pleasant and friendly. She was quick and very sweet the entire time. She listened to our requests for our son's haircut and did not stray from it like what we've experienced elsewhere. We've gone to Gary's Kid Cuts and also the salon Cathy owned before called Lil' Couture (our experience was not with Cathy there though) but there is no wonder why so many people keep following her. You can see my reviews on Cathy's former venture, Lil Couture, which was our go-to spot for kids' haircuts, but then fell off after they moved to their San Carlos location. I only had Cathy a couple of times back in those days, because she was always so booked out, and I'm not patient enough to make appointments far in advance. When I heard that Cathy had parted ways with Lil Couture and started up a new gig at I-Salon, I decided to give her another shot. So glad we did because now we have our go to salon again! Cathy is fast, consistent, and priced fairly for the market. She brought over many of the same touches from her old salon: multiple TVs playing either Madagascar or Cars - check. Small table of puzzles and legos for the little ones - check. Plastic cups of lollipops - check. The best part is now that she's moved over I can finally secure a same day appointment! Although maybe after more people hear about her, that might change...hmm, maybe this review isn't such a good idea.... She takes cash and credit card (cards have a slightly higher charge). She's a one-woman show so don't feel bad if she's delayed in answering your call or rushing you in your appointment. She's good and she's worth it! read more

Holy Moly! My son is a super difficult customer. Goes into full meltdown, and his hair grows so fast so is not a quick cut. Cathy did an amazing job cutting his hair while he was crying. She constantly talked to him soothingly and got him cooperating by the end of the cut. This is the ONLY salon we have encountered that we have had a positive experience at so far.
