This place is just so Portland. It's got that funk feel to it, plus it's old, and out of date and…read morethe ceilings are the lowest that I have ever seen in any indoor facility in my life. There's some old benches for the players, and then there are benches for the "fans" to sit on and watch the game. The colors are great - royal blue, and kelly green, old dark brown carpet everywhere that there isn't crappy turf. Being new to town, and putting your name up on the board does end in a few options... but not as many as I thought it would. I got on a 3rd division team mid-season about a month after putting my name up. Maybe longer. Then I just got a call recently - 5 months after putting my name up about playing on a couple teams. So, that was probably the most frustrating thing about this place - everyone want to play, and that can make finding a team difficult. During the summer, it's easier since no one wants to play in the sauna... so, just be patient. The best part of all is that if you can find a cool team to hang out with - there's beer by the glass/pitcher at one end of the field. I do like a lot of things, but a few cold ones after a solid game of soccer ranks right up at the top.

While it's pretty much the only place to play organized futsal in Portland, it's also a fun place…read moreto play. Built in an old paint factory (or something similar), there are two full sized courts and a smaller kids size/practice court. If you haven't played futsal before, it's similar to indoor soccer, but without aid of walls, a smaller court and smaller not very bouncy ball. The emphasis is on foot skills. They have quite a number of adult leagues, which mostly fall into either the male or co-ed variety, as well as some offerings for youth players and pick-up games. Leagues usually last about 8 weeks. Bonus: Brooklyn Park Pub is at the other end of the street.

The other field has huge gashes in it which have been glued together, two of which are in the goalie box. As a goalie this presents a problem when diving for a ball. Those rough glue spots can make for some nasty cuts on open skin. Also, there has been at "Out of order" sign up in the men's restroom for some months now. The music! What's with the music? It's the same six or seven songs on repeat for the last 6 seasons I've played there! Seriously?! You can't play some internet radio like Songza or something? A new play list? Anything? I don't think the leagues are monitored as well as they could be. I understand we as a team lose a lot of the games we play but there are times we play where it's almost an even game and there are times we play where I think we are playing teams that are two or three levels above us because we just get destroyed. Destroyed like 20 some odd goals AFTER the mercy rule. One more thing, it's really expensive to play here for it to be in such bad shape and not offer anything else. What is all that money going to if it's not going to upkeep? We probably won't play here again next season as there are now other options in the Portland area. I guess I am going for the amenities after all, I want to be comfortable before, during, and after a game.

For the lower bowl, try sections 117-119 (midfield) or the first 15 rows of the upper East or West stands, to avoid the overhang affecting your view. The North End supporters sections (101-108, for both the Thorns and the Timbers) are an experience unto themselves if you want to be inside the atmosphere rather than watching it: just know it's standing-only and loud by design. Practical notes before you go: the venue is fully cashless, your match ticket doubles as TriMet fare for up to three hours before and after the game, and the bag policy is strict: clear bags can't be larger than 14"w x 14"h x 6"d, and non-clear bags are limited to 4.5" x 6.5". The easiest move is to skip the bag entirely if you can. Lockers are available outside Gates B, D, and F (via the Droplocker app) for $15 if you need them. The atmosphere alone is worth the trip at least once. It's the kind of venue that makes you a soccer fan even if you weren't one walking in.

This place was quite busy during my visit, it's a June sunday, there was a line, but it moved quickly. The store itself is not big, but they have a great selection, especially right now for FIFA. The employees were friendly. A really cool feature is that you can customize jerseys in the store. Keep in mind that the prices are still expensive; this is not an outlet, so do not expect outlet prices. If you are visiting Portland and you're Adidas fan like me, I recommend stopping by.

BE AWARE! THEY OVER CHARGED AT CHECK-OUT!…read more The customer service is some of the worst I have ever experienced. After discovering the store overcharged us for 12 items due to a system pricing error, we rushed back before our flight to get it resolved. Instead of a quick correction for *their* mistake, we were met by staff who had absolutely no sense of how to handle the situation. They represent the store, yet they completely detached themselves from the problem and showed zero care or urgency to resolve it. The staff's handling of the situation was abysmal: -ZERO ACCOUNTABILITY: We were forced into a massive, 30+ person line. When we asked to use the empty employee lane because of our tight flight schedule, we were bluntly denied because we were "regular customers." -TERRIBLE ATTITUDE: Staff repeatedly told us there was nothing they could do and explicitly stated that if we missed our flight while waiting for them to fix their error, *"that would be our responsibility. -DISREGARD FOR CUSTOMERS: A simple refund took nearly an hour, causing immense stress and almost making us miss our flight. The staff here is rigid, dismissive, and entirely lacking in basic empathy or problem-solving skills. Absolutely unacceptable.
