I don't normally do this, but I felt in my heart that I had to share my experience with this day care.
Let me start out by saying-- my daughter and I just moved to the valley from Long Beach so that her dad can be more involved in her life as we are coparenting. We had to find a school/day care in a matter of days and this daycare was one of them on our list.
My first initial visit was good. We met with Isabel and she toured us her home and told us about the activities they normally do with the kids. I had to step out real quick as I had a job interview the very same day and was expecting a job offer phone call. Thankfully I got the job!
Fast forward to a week later, my daughter started daycare. I politely called the first week and spoke to Isabel and asked her how she was doing and how my daughter was doing, she said she was good.. a little shy and didn't go to the restroom all day (which is normal considering my daughter's first week she was not yet comfortable).. I said oh no, maybe if you try taking her she will go.. and she said "well I asked her and she said she didn't wanna go to the bathroom." The response didn't sit well with me as a mother, but I decided to let it go and move forward.
The following week, I called her on a Sunday.. assuming that it is a home daycare maybe someone would answer (this was my fault). I wanted to ask her a quick question about tuition since it was due on Monday, the following day.. but nobody answered.. which was fine, I just wanted to try my luck.
The following day, Monday-- I called her at 7:30 and asked her about tuition fee, because I wanted to clarify something with her because dad was nagging me about payment so I wanted to make sure we were all on the same page.. I asked her how her day was.. and was very nice to her.. then after discussing the tuition fee with me she seemed annoyed of me and hung up.. not even a goodbye or anything.. I was again, taken back by her agitation with me.. but I let it be.
The very same day, dad picks up our daughter after work and advised me that Isabel gave us a week notice to find another child care as he said "she was stressed out dealing with us and because I was harassing her on a weekend and also didn't seem interested in the day care because I stepped out to make a phone call during our tour." I was in utter shock as my daughter has never been a violent child and her reasoning for kicking our daughter out was outrageous to be quite honest. As a parent, I feel like we are obliged to check in to see how our child is doing for the day.. and as a caregiver you are supposed to make the parent feel at ease, but instead she made us feel such a burden to her day.
My daughter is 4 years old and is very vocal. During that week she told me that they only eat and sleep and play outside. I asked if they read books to them or play with them and she had told me no. My daughter has been in 3 schools and this was the only home day care she had been in, so I know my daughter knows the difference with what caregivers should be doing and not.
I feel like it was so unprofessional and she didn't even give us a chance. We took a chance with her by trusting her with our daughter and she pretty much took our money and screwed us over by kicking my daughter out. In a way it was a blessing in disguise, but I have never ever been in a situation like this where a child care provider made me feel scared to call as if I were harassing them.. I only called 3 times in the span of 2 weeks that my daughter was under her watch and spoke to her only twice and was very kind to her each time even after her giving me attitude.
I felt so betrayed and hurt that we had to experience this and had to quickly find another childcare for my daughter in such short notice. Not only was time wasted, but our deposit money was snatched too.
Now my daughter is in a school environment and I'm so blessed to have found another place in such a short amount of time for the fraction of what she was charging us. If I had known she was going to treat us this way, I wouldn't have placed my daughter under her care. This was definitely a review that I needed to post.
I wish the best of luck for her business and for those parents out there seeking child care, please trust your intuition and do your research before having your child under someone's care. I seek out to recommendations from other parents experiences from now on, not yelp reviews because as you can see they had great reviews but we had a terrible experience. read more
