It was my first time throwing axes and it took a few tries before getting the hang of it. We did 75 minute and for 5 people who were also drinking and snacking, that was the perfect amount of time. They had good music playing and a good amount of alcohol on tap or from a can. The food was average, but good enough for bar snacking. The pretzel was quite yummy and fresh. The front desk/employee was cool and chill. He gave us the introduction and explained how to add points. We had a group of 8 so we had to split into group of 4's, which we didn't mind. Two lanes. The place was neat and clean. There was a few arcade games along the wall. We were in the back section and there were bar stools and small side tables as well. Throwing the axes was fun. Took a few tries, but after that it was easy. I wish the hammer had more weight though. I've been to another axe throwing place where the entire axe was metal, but this place the handle was just wood. I also wish they had newer hammers because the red plastic grip was ripped and falling apart at the bottom. But overall me and my friends had fun. First time going axes throwing. Went for a girls day out. We went mid afternoon on a Saturday. There was a birthday party on side of house which looked like they're might be arcade games but we didn't venture over. There were a couple other small groups already playing. We sat in the "bar" area while we waited. Two gentleman working seemed pretty busy and even a bit overwhelmed with trying to make bar food. We finally placed our order for some very basic bar food nachos and quesadilla. It took about 45mins to get our basic bar food. The food was okay. It was finally our time to throw. We received good instructions on how to safely throw and brief instructions on how to operate the game. The projectors are very dim and the backdrop isn't great so it makes it difficult to really see the players screen. You're kind of left guessing. The music choice was a bit odd as it was at time kind of romantic music instead of high energy music. Just thought that was interesting for the vibe. But the staff was nice and place was clean. It was a good time. I'd like to come back if they can improve there bar food experience in terms of options and timeliness of bringing food out. Limitless Axes & Ales is located in the Valley Plaza. I have been to this plaza on countless occasions, but I had never seen this spot. Plenty of parking in the shared parking lot as well. One employee was working and he was friendly and kept an eye of the few groups in here. First time here, so he got us checked / signed in, went over the rules, and set us up. Updating my review to rave about my experience with Alex! We had a super large group event at Limitless Axes and Ales in Pleasanton - this was the second time our group decided to come back since we had a good experience during our first visit. Alex was so helpful and made our entire experience really worthwhile - everyone in our group really raved about how great he was after our event. He was wearing multiple hats throughout our visit, from checking people in, doing the axe throwing demos, and interacting with our guests. He was so attentive that he even helped a few people out when it came to improving their throw which was so nice too. I enjoyed it! I didn't know that the axes can come back to you but I took the risk anyways lol the ambiance is good. There are a few games in the establishment too. I took a star because we ordered a side plate and it was no bueno. The dough tasted undercooked. There are a lot of beer options but no margaritas when I asked. The options for time were 30 minutes to 90 minutes. I thought 90 minutes was too long and 30 seemed like too short. I also felt like going with more people would be more fun, it was my cousin and I and my arm was hurting . I'm sure if more people go then your arm wouldn't hurt as much lol. Overall a good fun experience but I wouldn't go too hungry. I only tried one side but prices seemed a bit steep. After lunch, my cousins and I were trying to find an activity to do and we remembered that we wanted to go axe throwing earlier that week and wanted to find an activity to do before my flight home. We came by around 4:30 PM on Sunday. We also saw that they have an escape room that's connected next door. (They also offer a discount if you decide to do an escape room after throwing axes!). The employees are welcoming and as soon as you get settled in into a cage, they break down the rules as well as the different types of games that you can play between your party. I enjoyed the variety of games that you can play. You can play up to 30 minutes and 75 minutes. If you have little ones, they have some board games near the front and they have some arcade games. The place was not crowded. We had made online reservations. The staff was very thorough in explaining the rules and games. You can play as many games during your allotted time. It was really a fun activity. The staff was friendly and very helpful. There were even families with young adults. The only con...the food was very basic and they were out of most items. More than once we ordered a menu item and the host came back and said that they were out. Eventually the host mentioned the cook was not there and unfortunately he didn't know where everything was. He was apologetic and tried his best to accommodate. We ended up with the nachos and a dog of some kind which unfortunately was something a five year old could slap together....Needless to say, I was quite disappointed with the quality and lack of food choices. There was a variety of beer choices, but nothing on tap. Overall the experience was great and I definitely plan to come again for the beer and games. I would have given this place a higher rating but, there were a couple things I will get to that caused me to give an average rating. First, the good: We went here on a date and had a great time. It has a cool vibe with good music playing. This place uses a computer program and a projector at each throwing range where you can select a variety of different games to keep challenging yourself throughout the time you're there. You have a designated computer at your range and you or someone in your party selects the game and whose turn it is. You have a designated time period at the lane, so you there is no pressure to finish a particular game if you would like to try another one instead. The place was also very clean. There was a detailed safety briefing beforehand and a tutorial of how to use the computer program as well. They also have a selection of brews and some food that you can also order. There are also some arcade games throughout the facility. This would be a very good spot for a company team event, a birthday party or a night out with friends or significant other. Now the things that need improvement: First off, the service was lacking a little. This may have been because it was a busy day but, I wasn't sure if this was the norm or not. However, all the staff were nice. We had a reservation for a particular time slot and it took some time to even let someone know we were there. After we checked in, it took 15-20 minutes after our time until we were taken to a lane. While we were playing, there was about 10-15 minutes before our time was up and our projector shut down. I went to go find an employee to let them know and it probably took 15 minutes for me to flag somebody down. By then we didn't feel like starting it back up for 15 minutes of play time. Second, I wanted to order a beer, but was unsuccessful. You are supposed to be able to order a beer or food from your phone with a QR code right from your lane. When I scanned the code, it took me to a website where I had to register. I put in all my information and then it took me to some kind of home screen dashboard. It had information on the various beers they offer, but there was no obvious way to order anything. After several minutes of messing around on the site, I just decided not to order a beer. I didn't want to lose the time to go all the way to the bar and wait in line. If they correct the quickness with service and make the food/drink ordering process a little more user friendly my review would be 5 stars. Still had a great time though. read more

I went to Limitless Axes & Ales in Pleasanton with my spouse and some friends. They have a great selection of drinks to choose from very friendly staff to help make recommendations. The location has a great decor and nice vibe overall. We had a lot of fun for the most part but there needs to be some stricter rules/supervision because there were multiple times where as the group next to us was running out of time, they began getting extremely hazardous were we honestly felt scared to go into our cage. The group was literally going full force, all out, nonstop, running all while sucking so the axe would literally bounce off the board/wall/cage and fly back where even they were jumping to make sure they didn't lose a foot. Like they weren't even comfortable, how the heck am I supposed to feel safe going into a cage next to them where I have to walk where said flying axe was being bounced back to. The fact they broke TWO axes even before their time was running out should have been a sign that maybe they need to be have a check. read more

First time axe throwing and it was a pretty fun experience! I purchased a Groupon online & for some odd reason the voucher doesn't work when you're trying to redeem it, so I had to call in to make a reservation. It was pretty quick & reservation was booked for Halloween. Since it was Halloween, there really wasn't anybody there the entire 80 minutes we threw besides us and the two employee's. The music choice was definitely odd as they switched from country to extremely heavy edm music. Kind of sad that they didn't have the iced creme brûlée cider bc we were looking forward to trying it :-( but I'm happy that they had cider since I'm not much of a beer drinker! The actual axe throwing was a lot more fun than expected! 75 minutes is definitely enough time and more to go axe throwing especially for two people on a date. The only things that I have to nit pick are how difficult it is to see certain photos for games like the zombies and duck hunting game. Some of the photos kind of blended in. Also, there were holes in the lumber that made it difficult to play games with since the axe kept getting stuck in that exact area. There were plenty of other ranges to throw in that had no holes in the lumber too... so I was a little confused why we got put in this one -- but that'll be something to make sure to look out for if we go again. The outer lumber also came unhinged, so when we threw the axe it would get stuck in the hole and we had to fish it out. Other than that, a pretty interesting experience! I came for a double date a little while back and had a good time! It was my first time axe throwing, so they walked us through the basics like how to throw, safety rules, game set-up, etc. They have a few different game modes, but we only found one or two to be worth playing, so we stuck to those. The vast beer selection was a pleasant surprise. The choice paralysis was real for me lol, but I appreciated all the options nonetheless. I have gone two times now and both were wonderful! It's something new to try, and I thought axe throwing might be scary but it turned out to be very approachable and I enjoyed playing games with my friends. I especially liked the variety of games you can play while taking turns axe throwing, like duck hunting, target practice, and blackjack. There is a good amount of games to try, and it's easy to switch between them using the mouse and keyboard at the throwing station. I got to try ALL the games during a 75 minute session. I will probably be back a third time in the near future to try more techniques too- I have gotten better at throwing with both hands, and now I am hoping to be able to throw straight using one hand. read more

What a disappointment. We had done axes at another place in Livermore and had a blast. We came here because it's closer to home. For some reason the staff here decided that we were only entitled to order one drink. We were over charged for the number of people and they refused to refund us. Overall, a terrible experience. I will not be coming back and I will not be recommending this to any of my friends. It's sad. It could have been a good experience but clearly the staff here had no interest in service or making money. I don't expect this place to be in business very long. It was suggested to go axe throwing for a birthday and my first reaction was "Um... I'm not sure about this. Isn't it dangerous?! Have you seen those YouTube videos?" But despite those feelings, I went with the flow and figured that I should experience this at least once in my lifetime. This place is located within a plaza with ample parking, however, there are a lot of green zone spots (10-15 min parking) so make sure to keep an eye on where you're parking. The entrance is on the side of the building if you're looking at it. Once you walk in, you're immediately transformed into a cabin setting with a fairly large bar to your right ;). They have a great Instagram-able spot to take photos with neon lights and cabin furniture! It's highly recommended to make reservations if planning to visit on a weekend because this place can get busy. When you enter, you'll complete a lengthy waiver form by scanning a QR code with your phone. We had about 20 minutes before our reservation so we decided to get some drinks. The bar has a large beer and seltzer selection but all canned, nothing on tap. I imagine to limit any incidents with glass breaking and such. We ordered two rounds to try out the wide variety they had. 10 minutes after our reservation time, we were finally taken to our designated lane. There's probably about 12 lanes at this location. Each lane has a projector that displays a target on a cork board and has one axe that each player will share on their turn. There are a few different games you can select - a traditional target game, zombies, Christmas, and tic-tac-toe. A few other things to note: - There are other free games you can play like corn hole, foosball, and big connect 4. - This is an indoor activity and staff and most patrons did not wear masks. - Pricing: 30 min sessions are $25/person and 75 min sessions are $35/person. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience here, however, it would've been nice to have the full 75 minutes AFTER the instructions are given so that it doesn't eat into the time and/or have a second lane since no one was occupying the other lane next to us. Came on a Thursday night and we had the entire place to ourselves. Paige and Kayla were attentive, friendly, and provided adequate axe throwing coaching and check ins. Shout out to Kayla for fan girling over bad bunny with me. Place is very spacious in size and parking lot area. No issues finding parking. Great for groups and especially if you need to let off some steam They have an incredibly large roster of drinks that range from lagers to IPA's. I loved it when we went here first time a few months ago. The lanes are spacious and the service was good. They couldn't serve any food because of some reason but they allowed us to order food. It was my husband's first time at axe throwing and he loved it. But lately, twice we went and basically they could not take us in and the wait was too long. The price is $35 per person for an hour so it is not cheap as you will spend further on drinks and food. But, this is a great activity to do with friends/ group. Visit: 01/29/2022 This is our first time going axe throwing and Hubby and I have been so grateful to the staff over at Limitless Axes & Ales! I had made a reservation with Limitless Axes & Ales to celebrate our anniversary and on our way, we were stuck in bumper to bumper traffic. I called the first time to let them know that we were on our way, but that we were stuck in a bad traffic accident that happened on the freeway. The person who picked up the phone, I believe it was Mya(?) said that it was OK. Time went by and it felt like we were not going anywhere. I was so anxious about missing our reservation line and Hubby asked me if I wanted him to call them again to let them know. He called again and they were so kind and told us not to worry because other people had called in about the traffic as well and to get there safely. This visit was my third time. The first was for a group birthday party. The host ordered food for a group of 20 and I was not impressed by the food. In fact I remember having a bit of an upset stomach. The second visit a group of 5. It was weird ordering beer at the counter. There is a wall and a monitor blocking the view to the beers and the beer slinger was not very helpful. He was cranky. When making a reservation you have to pay in full by credit card. Reservations can be made online but we phoned. On this visit a Friday night we couldn't get in until 9:45, but we showed up early and got a cage. Evan was our host. He explained all the games, rules and safety guidelines and helped me with my beer selection. He stopped back often to check on us. Of my three visits, this was best experience. Really well done concept and very fun. Great for a small group. Imagine bowling, but with axes (really a big hatchet). A projector puts targets on the cork backstop that can be set to various games. Scorekeeping is done with a computer mouse. It's very safe and an employee gives your group a quick tutorial. It may take several throws until you start sticking in the target. From your group's area, you can order food and drinks from a small kiosk, although you can also order at the 'bar.' You do need to make a reservation, and when you arrive you fill out a liability release, which is done quickly on your phone by scanning a QR code. Beer selection is good, although it's alI canned/bottled and not on tap. Employees are friendly and helpful. I knocked off a star because the food is pretty low quality. There is no kitchen, so pizza and wings are done behind the counter in small appliances. The pizza is made on pre-made crust and baked in a countertop cooker that reminds me of my sister's Holly Hobby Easy-bake oven from childhood. The chicken wings are tiny (look like "chick" wings instead of a grown chicken). All in all, a fun place to do something different with friends, or a group from work. My boyfriend definitely was better than me ha ha, it takes great form, but I got a couple good hits in too! Practice makes perfect right, that and confidence?! TLDR; must try experience, great customer service. Little mask enforcement. Customer service - We had a birthday reservation snafu at another place in the area; we called Limitless Axes & Ales and spoke to Mya. She was SUPER nice and let us know that though they were fully booked, they could squeeze us in between reservations as walk-ins for a 30 min session. We arrived within 15 mins and not only did Mya squeeze us in but she was able to get us a full 75 minute session!! Mya made us feel welcome, exceeded our expectations and saved the day for our friend's bday celebration! What's included - Our 75 min session came with two "lanes" and our own seating area. There was 8 of us so this was awesome because we were able to do two teams of 4 to maximize our play time but still get to all hang out together. One thing to note, we lost about 10 mins of our 75 min session to instructions. There is a person (who was very helpful, kind and offered tips when she walked by and saw we needed axe throwing guidance) who will show you how to use the scoreboard, how to play the different games they have available and also all about axe throwing safety; this shouldn't count against your time but it does. Food/Drinks - There are little devices at each cage/station that allow you to order food/drinks which is awesome. We didn't order anything using these devices but other groups had good things to say about them. Friends in our group that had drinks enjoyed them and appreciated the wide selection of drinks offered. Alcohol and axes - I thought it possible that we would run into unruly or unsafe situations when combining alcohol with axe throwing but surprisingly we did not witness any issues midday on a Saturday. I am not sure if this is a concern on weekend nights. Other games - You can play corn hole or connect 4 (all free) while you wait for your session to start. These games are located by the cages In the back area. Covid - This place is entirely indoors and neither staff nor patrons (but for a small handful) wore masks. Pricing - the walk in 30 min sessions are $25/person and the full 75 min sessions are $35/person. Parking - plenty of parking in large parking lot. We easily found a spot right up front. Overall, the customer service was fantastic and we had a blast. Loved the experience; the lack of mask enforcement and loss of minutes during instruction are easy fixes which I hope they will address (It'd be nice if at least staff would wear masks). So much fun! For Christmas, I gave my honey a bunch of date ideas that I had written on slips of paper and mixed up in box. Last weekend he pulled "axe throwing." I immediately googled our options and then texted our friends who live nearby to see about making it a double date. While they live minutes away, they had never been and once child care was confirmed, they were in! It was very easy to book a reservation online. We arrived 10 minutes before our reservation, checked in, signed their digital waiver, and ordered wine and beer. We were then escorted to our "lane" and given a quick overview of how things work. Then we had 75 minutes to throw to our hearts content. They have fun music playing and even with all the lanes full around us, it wasn't too loud to still be able to chat and catch up between throws. The guy helping us checked in often and brought us another round of drinks when we were ready. He also offered to take a photo for us before we left. I have been to this place twice now with my best friend and wife. When you walk in it doesn't seem like much but the decor and ambiance is that of a bar. They have about 10 or more axe throwing cages that can accommodate a good amount of people. Every time we have gone we always made reservations so we were able to get a lane really quick. They have plenty of beers on hand that you can try. They are also have really good food that you can order too. This is a great place to go and have fun with friends and family. The games they have for you to play with the axe throwing are also pretty cool! I would say the more people you have the more time you would want to book in a lane. I've been to Limitless twice now - once with friends (4 of us total) and another time with my Dad. Can confirm it's fun for any crowd! You get 75 min of play time for $35 each and they've got 6(?) games you can play. They're all based on your aim and can be a lot of fun! My fav to play with friends was the zombie/duck targeting. With my dad, we loved the tic-tac-toe and connect 4 since it was just the two of us. Since the time is the same no matter how many players, less players = more playtime each. They do have the option to do half time if you have less players also. The food is like snack bar food so I would suggest eating before/after. I did see some folks bring in food from the sushi spot next door (but I'm not 100% sure if that was allowed or if the team was just cool with it). Me and my cousin and a bunch of his friends came here to throw some Axes for his birthday. This location has such a great vibe with music playing all the time, people having fun, arcade games, and drinks to go around. The building was also clean and well maintained. And I want to give a HUGE shoutout to Lexi. She explained to us everything we needed to know regarding safety, how to throw an Axe, game rules, etc. I honestly loved her energy and how genuine she was. Since it was my first time doing Axe throwing, I was embarrassingly terrible at it haha. But I eventually got the hang of it because Lexi went out of her way to teach me. She was the reason why I enjoyed that whole Axe throwing experience. Would definitely come back.
