Bday party!

On Monday we had my 8yr old's bday party, 330-530. Leading up to the party, I worked with Mike R. (Party coordinator) to book the date, finalize the food items, # of attendees etc. I found out Friday before the party he hadn't received the party form I'd previously sent, so I was a little nervous I was only now learning it wasn't received. He was supposed to call Saturday to finalize stuff but that also didn't happen. IT ALL WORKED OUT!, have faith :) despite a strict No Outside Food Allowed policy, he DID ok us bringing in outside fruit so I could balance pizza/tots/fries, which I truly appreciate. Thanks Mike for all your help! The party itself was great. I made sure attendees knew in advance that the bowling is only one hour, followed by an hour for food cake etc. This worked well for a dozen first graders with lots of energy and limited attention span! PARTY HOST NOAH! Dude was great. I must've missed it somewhere in the party package that we get a dedicated person helping with the party. He got shoes for the kiddos, kid-sized bowling balls, helped with the bumpers and the game console, brought the food n drinks out, sliced n served cake... he did it all and was super communicative, always helpful, and nice to the kiddos. He mentioned that the day before he hosted multiple parties at once, so I felt extra taken care of since we were the only party on the books. ALSO!, at the end of the party they have all the kids sign a Happy Birthday bowling pin... so awesome, what a great memento! Yes we had Noah sign it too :) Two hour time limit was enforced bc they had league bowling that night. Which worked well for us, kiddos were done within about 90min of arriving! Lots of parents stuck around during the party and were very complimentary of the party/alley. Maybe they'll book a couple parties now thanks to our great party experience. THANKS EA's!

Bowling and beers for two

To my pleasure, my fiancé and I were surprised at how crowded it was here on a weekend night! I thought bowling was a dying sport but glad to be proven wrong. Being part of a plaza with other businesses, the parking lot can get quite full during peak times. We came later in the evening around 9-10pm and there was 3 groups ahead of us on the wait list. Luckily there are 10+ lanes here so one opened up fairly quick after we grabbed some drinks and waited at a table for a moment. Decent selection of different weight and finger size bowling balls. Seems like the shoes they rent out are quite old and uncomfortable, but that's how most rentals tend to be. I enjoyed the variety of scoreboard displays, compared to other places that don't have anything special. In my opinion, I consider under $10 per game average or on the cheaper end. Some of the newer built places are much more expensive.

I come here to watch brother and father bowl in their leagues and tournaments. I live out of town, so I personally not used the bowling facility. I however was impressed with the selection of food at this location. I was hungry and walked up dreading the fact that I would have to get friend food. To my surprise they had an entire breakfast menu available. I ordered a burrito. Got egg cheese tater tots with bacon and sausage. Very decently put together. Just wish I had some home made salsa and it would of been that much more satisfying

Update: The prices of snacks have gone up. The quality has gone down. This is the worst batch of fries i've evr gotten here. $1.00 price increase and the basket is not even filled half way. Fries were also soggy and slightly burned.

The restaurant seemed very understaffed, and throughout the two hours we were there, many of the food items stayed empty for long periods without being replenished. Since the buffet was split between two levels, our entire family, including those helping with a newborn, constantly had to go downstairs just to find available food, which was also limited at times. The protein selection felt pretty minimal with mainly prime rib and ham, while most of the buffet consisted of carbs and desserts. On top of that, three of our family members ended up experiencing stomach issues afterward, which we suspect may have come from the chocolate fountain area. We've celebrated Mother's Day here before and were really looking forward to coming back, so it was disappointing to leave feeling let down. Hoping this was just an off day, but sadly we probably won't be choosing Pinstripes again for future Mother's Day celebrations.

We were informed that adults are NOT allowed on the second story of the play structure and cannot accompany our child on the slides. Our 21 month old had to stay on the first floor the whole visit. She started getting upset that we wouldn't allow her to follow the other kids up to the slides. I asked an employee why we couldn't go down the slides with our daughter and she said per new ownership, they changed the rules. Except recent videos (as of today) on social media of people advertising this place show adults going down the slides. We also witnessed adults walking around the top floors with their kids and going down the slides. It seems that the rules aren't applicable to everyone. Tons of balls in the ball pit were deflated, the ball cannon shooters were not working and that's pretty much all there is to do if you stay on the ground floor. Older kids can play in the ball pit and it's simply way too small for that. My daughter was terrified of the older kids running and jumping into the pit around her. It was a rainy day outside and very crowded. I asked one of the floor workers if she could turn on the giant overhead fan to help move some air around since it was very muggy and warm and she said she had to ask the owner first. She even admitted she was getting hot as well. 20 minutes went by and it was never turned on. I guess it doesn't work? Not sure why you need to ask the owner for permission to turn on a fan. The layout could use a little rearranging. It's a cool concept, just not executed nearly as well as others with the same idea. For the price, $40-ish for two adults to accompany their toddler, it's absolutely not worth it. We won't be returning. Also keep in mind, if you order tickets and sign the waiver ahead of time, you'll still have to wait in line behind people who didn't. Just one person in front of us with one child took 15 minutes to buy their tickets and sign the waiver. Once we were checked in which took less than 5 minutes, the line was out the door. There are also no lockers to safely put your belongings in, just open cubby's.

Pricing is on the higher side but man those claw machines are a bust, we kept trying and could not win anything, it seems to barley even grip. This place became so greedy. To be honest I gave it a chance , before this review I gave it a shot because I came here DEC, Jan and finally this was the last straw, during dec. I understand maybe they needed the extra revenue that's why they purposely mess up the calibration, so it won't pay out a win after a certain amount of swipes but now it's just ridicules. so please I'm warning people to please to do not come to ROUND 1 SOUTHLAND MALL. try other location maybe they are better. Castro Valley hosts this mini golf spot that's an affiliate of the Golfland family and features its two 18-hole ranges perfect for beginners and experts alike. After a few rounds on the green, consider venturing into their arcades to play some good old fashioned video games (Time Crisis and other dual player shooters, Mario Kart and other racing games, and fighting games) and skill games (like skee ball, table air hockey, and claw machines). Be wary, however, for those who have game cards from other Golflands, they're location specific so they won't work here unless you have one from this spot. Starting from the giant parking lot which is just off of a busy street, you'll make your way through the gates and stroll up the long walkway to the front desk where you'll register to get your clubs and balls (you'll get your choice from among a few colors). From there, you'll have your pick of the two courses, one for novices and one for the more adventurous. Make your way through the obstacles and mark your scorecard to determine the winner of bragging rights! We came for a birthday party and logistically, they have the main room amongst the beginner course which is well lit from all the open windows but I believe they have another space near the arcade for those looking for a more enclosed, private gathering. Once the guests arrived, they hosted an orientation and got the members all equipped and ready to go. The youngsters had a lot of fun and can't wait to return! The staff were all very friendly and helpful. You'll interact with them more at the arcades especially if you'll be redeeming prizes with your hard-earned digital tickets. The ticket values on the top tier prizes were pretty large but for frequent visitors or lucky winners, you can get some pretty neat stuff here. The mini prizes definitely reminded me of my times at the arcades when I was a kid, very nostalgic! Overall, Golden Tee Golfland is a well-maintained, family friendly environment conducive to an awesome time outdoors as well as an exhilarating experience soaking up the old school arcade vibe. We accumulated a ton of steps during our visit here and the kids could not stop hitting the greens to get their fluorescently colored balls into the holes. The obstacles are fun - there are water effects and moving doors and bridges. While most of them functioned as expected, there were a few hiccups with some like balls getting stuck or certain doors just not functioning as expected. For wetter seasons, the holes for the balls do end up pooling which makes picking the balls out a bit of an unpleasant endeavor. For being exposed to the outdoors, the place was in pretty good shape, however. It's a bummer that the Golflands don't have a unified system for the game cards as it just incentivizes families to just pick one and stick with it instead of venturing out and exploring the other amazing locations like this one. If you're a local, this is a great place to take a date or the family - it'll tee you up for a good time!

I don't get out often, usually only for appointments once or twice a month and about once a month (sometimes every other month) for a date...so when I do, it's something very special that I have to carefully plan for, and I need significant time to recover afterward. Round1 has so many fun options all in one place. There's bowling, a huge arcade with both classic and modern games, racing games, basketball hoops, rhythm and dance games, and interactive skill games. They also have karaoke rooms, ping pong, and billiards/pool tables. It's really nice because there is something for everyone and every energy level...whether you want something active, competitive, or just casual and fun. We enjoy pool, basketball hoops, racing, several other sit down games like the Top Gun game. We have yet to order snacks as we usually get there too late, but will next time. We love Karoke so we may do a little Karoke The staff has always been kind, and the customer service is consistently good. We also really appreciate the security at the front it, it makes the environment feel safe and welcoming. We haven't tried bowling at this specific location yet, but we have at another Round1 and look forward to doing it here as well. One of our favorite things is just walking around and trying different games together...it honestly feels like stepping into a playful, fun space where you can forget stress for a while. My husband is incredibly supportive and often carries me so I don't have to use my wheelchair inside, which makes it easier for us to enjoy the experience together. Even though I'm 38 and he's 42, it truly feels like being kids again, laughing, playing games, and just enjoying each other's company.
