I wanted to go bowling and this bowling alley was in the area. It isnt an updated bowling alley but the service is amazing here. The guys in the front were so joyful and nice. Played 2 games and had a great time. Didnt order food or drinks but they do serve them. Also they had arcade games. Id definitely be back.

I love bowling and like to visit different bowling alleys in different towns. The lanes are nice here and the snack bar has a good menu and friendly service. Plenty of parking. Please come and create your own adventure.

Had a great time! The bowling lanes were in good condition, the staff was friendly, and the atmosphere was fun. Everything was clean and well organized. We really enjoyed our visit and would definitely come back!

    Bday party!

On Monday we had my 8yr old's bday party, 330-530. Leading up to the party, I worked with Mike R. (Party coordinator) to book the date, finalize the food items, # of attendees etc. I found out Friday before the party he hadn't received the party form I'd previously sent, so I was a little nervous I was only now learning it wasn't received. He was supposed to call Saturday to finalize stuff but that also didn't happen. IT ALL WORKED OUT!, have faith :) despite a strict No Outside Food Allowed policy, he DID ok us bringing in outside fruit so I could balance pizza/tots/fries, which I truly appreciate. Thanks Mike for all your help! The party itself was great. I made sure attendees knew in advance that the bowling is only one hour, followed by an hour for food cake etc. This worked well for a dozen first graders with lots of energy and limited attention span! PARTY HOST NOAH! Dude was great. I must've missed it somewhere in the party package that we get a dedicated person helping with the party. He got shoes for the kiddos, kid-sized bowling balls, helped with the bumpers and the game console, brought the food n drinks out, sliced n served cake... he did it all and was super communicative, always helpful, and nice to the kiddos. He mentioned that the day before he hosted multiple parties at once, so I felt extra taken care of since we were the only party on the books. ALSO!, at the end of the party they have all the kids sign a Happy Birthday bowling pin... so awesome, what a great memento! Yes we had Noah sign it too :) Two hour time limit was enforced bc they had league bowling that night. Which worked well for us, kiddos were done within about 90min of arriving! Lots of parents stuck around during the party and were very complimentary of the party/alley. Maybe they'll book a couple parties now thanks to our great party experience. THANKS EA's!

To my pleasure, my fiancé and I were surprised at how crowded it was here on a weekend night! I thought bowling was a dying sport but glad to be proven wrong. Being part of a plaza with other businesses, the parking lot can get quite full during peak times. We came later in the evening around 9-10pm and there was 3 groups ahead of us on the wait list. Luckily there are 10+ lanes here so one opened up fairly quick after we grabbed some drinks and waited at a table for a moment. Decent selection of different weight and finger size bowling balls. Seems like the shoes they rent out are quite old and uncomfortable, but that's how most rentals tend to be. I enjoyed the variety of scoreboard displays, compared to other places that don't have anything special. In my opinion, I consider under $10 per game average or on the cheaper end. Some of the newer built places are much more expensive.

He made this reservation the week before and made sure to make it before 3pm so we could do their brunch menu. He confirmed the activities were open during brunch as well. The day of we were running about 10 minutes late from San Jose so I called to confirm it was okay to which the hostess said they had actually stopped brunch early since it was slow. I had called at 2:10pm and brunch was supposed to be done at 3pm. We were still going and decided it wasn't that big of a deal. Once there they told us our table still had the party before us eating so they'd have to make a table somewhere else. So not only did you give a big table away to someone else knowing our reservation was there but you also stopped brunch early without contacting us to tell us our brunch reservation was changing. Ok no big deal... Then the service. The waitress was okay. She didn't smile, didn't know the flavors of drinks, didn't know the specials. We had to ask the gentleman cleaning tables to have her come back so we can get dessert. On top of this, they told us we needed to be done eating and out by 5:15pm but we can't do this if our waitress keeps disappearing and doesn't ever bring our check. When they did come back our card was not in the check folder. When we asked them where it was they said they had to look for it. Suspicious if you ask me. My MIL works at a very fancy Santa Clara restaurant for over 30 years. She has never been so unimpressed that she wanted to speak to the manager. When she did he also seemed like he didn't care, didn't offer any other help and said they were all busy upstairs for a party. Not an excuse. Then tell my husband they don't have reservations for us if you don't workers or space to properly serve us. Will not be back again. 3 stars because the food was good. That's it.

This time around i used my saved up tickets to get a small plush just so i can leave with a prize. Back then, you see everyone holding plushies and walking around. Now, maybe a few lucky winners? They filled a lot of the space with the mini claw machines. Do not play these!! You will not win! The claw strength for most of the machines are zero to none now and they have bumped up the prices for all of the claw machine games. They even force you to pay more for less credits now. Now it's either $120 or $140 ($110 before) and the credits definitely don't last as long anymore. Bad economy i guess. Don't come here if you actually want the prizes After using up 450 credits, i gave up and tried playing one of the marble games, the machine malfunctioned and refused to pay out the tickets. Asked someone to come look, a angry mechanic lady came by and walked around the machine, took a glance and left. I thought they needed to get help or something so i'm just sitting here and waiting for 30 minutes for them to come and try to fix it. Spoiler: they didn't come back to fix it nor come back to give an explanation to us. When i checked back at the reception, they said they sent someone to look at the machine but no one was at the machine(?) I AM LITERALLY SITTING IN FRONT OF THE MACHINE ARE YOU KIDDING ME. Then they sent the same angry mechanic to come back, who gave me a mean glare, opened and tinkered with the machine, couldn't fix anything, and proceeded to walk away without saying a word. Another 15 minutes went by, so i went back to the counter to just ask for my credits back since i don't want to wait anymore. They said they are fixing it and i will get the tickets once they finish fixing the machine. I'm like they aren't even there. But they said they can't give me back my credits -.- Ended up taking an L and just killing off the rest of the card and leaving. It's like they can't afford to let you win It's such a scam Imma just wait until I go back to Japan where it's like a dollar each play and there's actually a chance to win things. Good bye Hayward Round one.

During our visit, my 6-year-old son's arm got stuck inside the bowling ball return machine. When people rushed to the counter to alert the staff that a little boy was trapped, the employee's immediate response was completely unacceptable. Instead of rushing over or immediately hitting an emergency shut-off switch, they simply got on the loudspeaker and announced, "Don't put your hands in the machine." They completely failed to manage the situation or even figure out how to turn the machine off. Once we finally managed to get my son's arm out ourselves, the total lack of urgency continued. An employee grabbed a ziplock bag and walked--not ran--sluggishly to get ice. He then realized he forgot the key to the ice machine, turned around, and walked slowly back to get it. Watching this casual pace while my child was hurt and screaming was infuriating. I ultimately couldn't wait any longer, ran to him, grabbed the ice myself, and rushed back. Zero basic human urgency from the staff. Furthermore, these ball return machines absolutely should have weight or pressure sensors that automatically stop the internal belt when an object or a child's limb becomes trapped. The fact that the machine kept running is a massive liability. The staff here clearly has zero training on how to handle an emergency, shut down equipment, or administer basic first aid with any sense of urgency. Parents, please keep a very close eye on your kids here, because the staff will not know what to do if something goes wrong. We are only lucky that his arm is completely fine because of the quick-thinking customers who rushed to help us. To the amazing people who jumped into action to help save my son: thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Castro Valley hosts this mini golf spot that's an affiliate of the Golfland family and features its two 18-hole ranges perfect for beginners and experts alike. After a few rounds on the green, consider venturing into their arcades to play some good old fashioned video games (Time Crisis and other dual player shooters, Mario Kart and other racing games, and fighting games) and skill games (like skee ball, table air hockey, and claw machines). Be wary, however, for those who have game cards from other Golflands, they're location specific so they won't work here unless you have one from this spot. Starting from the giant parking lot which is just off of a busy street, you'll make your way through the gates and stroll up the long walkway to the front desk where you'll register to get your clubs and balls (you'll get your choice from among a few colors). From there, you'll have your pick of the two courses, one for novices and one for the more adventurous. Make your way through the obstacles and mark your scorecard to determine the winner of bragging rights! We came for a birthday party and logistically, they have the main room amongst the beginner course which is well lit from all the open windows but I believe they have another space near the arcade for those looking for a more enclosed, private gathering. Once the guests arrived, they hosted an orientation and got the members all equipped and ready to go. The youngsters had a lot of fun and can't wait to return! The staff were all very friendly and helpful. You'll interact with them more at the arcades especially if you'll be redeeming prizes with your hard-earned digital tickets. The ticket values on the top tier prizes were pretty large but for frequent visitors or lucky winners, you can get some pretty neat stuff here. The mini prizes definitely reminded me of my times at the arcades when I was a kid, very nostalgic! Overall, Golden Tee Golfland is a well-maintained, family friendly environment conducive to an awesome time outdoors as well as an exhilarating experience soaking up the old school arcade vibe. We accumulated a ton of steps during our visit here and the kids could not stop hitting the greens to get their fluorescently colored balls into the holes. The obstacles are fun - there are water effects and moving doors and bridges. While most of them functioned as expected, there were a few hiccups with some like balls getting stuck or certain doors just not functioning as expected. For wetter seasons, the holes for the balls do end up pooling which makes picking the balls out a bit of an unpleasant endeavor. For being exposed to the outdoors, the place was in pretty good shape, however. It's a bummer that the Golflands don't have a unified system for the game cards as it just incentivizes families to just pick one and stick with it instead of venturing out and exploring the other amazing locations like this one. If you're a local, this is a great place to take a date or the family - it'll tee you up for a good time!
