The chips have to be made in-house and they disappeared at an alarming rate. The salsa that came with them had this smoky, fire-roasted, chipotle flavor that kept me reaching for another chip... and then another... and then suddenly I realized I'd eaten way more chips than I intended. The bottled table salsas deserve their own paragraph because they completely confused me... in the best way. They bring three to the table... a green, a red, and a darker red. We only ended up here because another place happened to be closed, and honestly, I'm glad it worked out that way. This ended up being one of those meals we keep talked about on the drive home. Oh and the bathrooms?. I walked in and immediately thought, "Whoa... this is a cool bathroom" The lighting had this pinkish-purple glow that made me feel like I'd accidentally wandered into a trendy lounge instead of a taco shop. I honestly wasn't even sure there was regular lighting in there and I didn't look... because the vibe seemed so intentional. Finally, the music. .. upbeat, dance-worthy, the kind that had me bouncing in my seat while waiting for my food. I really enjoy this place, and the trivia service is always fantastic. However, today was a bit of a disaster, especially since it was Cinco de Mayo. I'm not exaggerating when I say it was a complete mess. We couldn't even find a spot in the dining room because it was packed, so we ended up at the bar. While we were there, I spotted our usual waitress, Ericka, who takes care of us on trivia Tuesdays. I asked if it was okay to sit at the bar openly, and she said it was fine. But once we sat down, we were greeted by a lady. I can't remember her name, and it took a while to get our drinks. We understand it was a busy day, but we've never seen the place so packed. I'm not usually one to complain about places, and I really love this one, but I won't be coming here if the bartender lady is working. Just sitting there, she was yelling at employees across the bar and even at customers, being incredibly rude because they were trying to order drinks. I asked our usual waitress, who was waiting for our drinks, to come over just to tell her how rude the bartender lady was to everyone. I've never seen her before, and she told me she usually doesn't work Tuesdays. We told her what we saw and how we felt, and she apologized on her behalf. But it shouldn't be the other employees apologizing for her behavior. Needless to say, we usually stay for at least two hours, but we just got our queso and chips and decided to leave. It was just too much. I know I may be being a bit dramatic, but attitude like this doesn't help anyone and is really bad for businesses. Others weren't worth going back for. Overall not really impressed, especially with no happy hour deals on any beer. 1-2 off draft beers during happy hour would encourage me to have more to eat, cycle repeats. This is a tale of two experiences…read more The first time we dined here was on a relatively slow Thursday night. We ordered the Carne Asada Pasilla. Basically, steak and cheese enchilada with rice and beans. We ordered Margaritas as well. We got water right away; our drinks came fast and were good. The food was not only timely and fresh...the steak was perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection...the cheese enchilada was excellent...even the rice and the grilled pepper were exceptionally good. The waiter was attentive and asked if we wanted another drink before the glass was empty. He filled our water glasses when they were low. It was a very good experience. Our next visit a little over a week later on a Friday night was something we were anticipating. We got reservations to sit outside and Ubered so we could both enjoy drinks and the experience. When we were seated, the waitress came by and took our drink order. We got our pitcher of margaritas (which had barely any tequila and full to the top with ice) before someone came by and dropped off a pitcher of water. We had to poor both ourselves. The chips and salsa came after our drinks and our appetizer came 2 minutes before the dinner. We both enjoyed the Carne Asada so much, we ordered it again. When the plates arrived, it looked like they had been sitting under the warmer for 15 minutes. The steak was so far over well done that there was no more moisture in the meat. They were essentially hocky pucks and you could tell just from looking at them. The enchiladas sauce had dried up and tasted like what you would expect after sitting under the warmer for an extended period. It took at least 5 minutes for the waitress to check on us after the food was delivered. When I told her the steak was overcooked, her response was "That is how we prepare it here." When I asked if dry and overcooked is really the standard, she offered to get a manager. The manager at least apologized and offered to get me a new steak. What she came back with was even more embarrassing than the first. This steak was unseasoned, still overcooked and had "F-you" written all over it. It looked like it had been cooked in a microwave oven. I wouldn't doubt there was spit on it. She then came back and told us she's not charging us for the Carne Asada plates. We didn't see our waitress again until she brought us the check. It is such a shame that we had such a good first experience followed by something so bad, that a return visit would be unthinkable. It's one thing to have inconsistent food or service...it is another to be inconsistent with both food and service. If you're looking for Mexican food...I would recommend you go elsewhere.

The dip was creamy and full of flavor and married perfectly with the deep fried biscuits. I ordered their loco moko and the presentation was exceptional but taste wise wasn't your traditional Hawaiian style loco moko. Wish it had more gravy and 2 eggs instead of two patties. My BF ordered the chimichanga breakfast burrito out of their special menu and that sucker was huge and quit tasty. The steak inside was juicy and was flavor-town. We definitely needed a brunch spot in Dove Valley, can't wait to try others on the menu.

The food was hot and flavorful. We had friendly service from the staff. The restaurant is clean and had very nice music playing. It was enjoyable to have a conversation. I loved the decorations and wall paintings.
